Jun 9, 2015I am running backups on SQL Sever express and I take backups via the batch file executing the TSQL as below. This works perfectly fine, I just need to be able to spool out the backup completion log. What TSQL command can I use to do that?
My batch file looks like this:

Usually if we schedule the backups using the maintenance plan, we can chose reporting options that can spool the result of the backup to a text file. What is the T-SQL for the spool report to a text file.
This option produces a file that writes logs with the details I posted below. I would like to do the same or similar using T-SQL in my code.

I choose Query select to a file
then when I tried to open the customer.rpt from the c drive I got this error message. I am not sure why this happend

Is there a way to get rid of the extra space between two columns? Sometimes it's more than the width of my screen between columns

SSMS Truncating Result Text In Select Query
Apr 20, 2015The value of one of the columns in my table is 14000 lines(678913 characters). The datatype of that column is varchar(MAX). I am doing the following select query but its truncating the results.
select value -- this is truncating the text.
from dbo.GUISETTINGS
The length is shown as below when I do the query:
SELECT DATALENGTH(VALUE) from dbo.GUISETTINGS -- return 707951 as the length.
I even tried running the query below but still the value is getting truncated. However, if I right-click and select "Save Results As" a file, then it shows all the lines/characters fine.

SQL Server 2008 :: Speed Up Text Search In Large Result Set?
Jul 14, 2015I have a query below which filters detail field in the #TempLogins table. The details field is a text field which contains many types of text strings, some containing urls that have parts like "ResultID=5" which is what is contained in the ResultIDSearch and ResultSetIDSearch fields. The records with entries like "ResultID=5" are the ones I'm trying to filter for.
The problem I have is that the query takes way too long to run. The TempLogin table has around 200 K records and the TempSearch table has around 80 K records.

Similar to a previous post (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=244646&SiteID=1), I am trying to import data into a SQL Table.
I am trying to program a small application that will import product data obtained through suppliers via CD-ROM. One supplier in particular uses Fixed width colums, and data looks like this:

My Table would then have:
ProductID as int
Name as text
Cost as money
How would I go about extracting the data with an XML Format file? I am stumbling over how to tell it where to start picking up data for a specific column.
Is there any way that I could trim the Name column (i.e.: "Mango Carton " --> "Mango Carton")?
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I've been calling SQL from my code by doing this:

I am createing one task (user control) in SSIS. I have property grid in my GUI and 2 buttons (OK & Cancle).
PropertyGrid has Properties like SourceConnection, OutputConnection etc....right now I am able to populate Connections in list box next to Source and Output Property.
Now my question to you guys is depending on Source Connection it should read that text file associated with connection manager. After validation it should pick header (first line of text file bases on record type) and write it into new file when task is executed. I have following code for your reference. I want to run these 4 sp calls--

exec EAUI_SP4 5507,'live'
And save the results of each one of those calls to the same file, in other words, an APPEND
Is this or something like it possible in TSQL?
