SQL Server 2008 :: Query To Select Every 2 Rows Based On A Date?
Sep 6, 2015
I have a table like the following (with much more data, but the concept is the same) with Dates and Actions for People and a column called Action with beginning Dates and end dates.
(I attached a picture because I could not figure out how to Format it)
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil
begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil
begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
I need the query to be like this. The idea is to have the query grab the next 'END' not all Ends, which my attempts have done i.e. I get not just the closest end to the begin date, but ALL Ends with the same Person.
I Need it to look like this:
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil
begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil
begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
There can be different People so the query Needs to return the beginning and end rows for the Person in sequential order.I can't figure out how to select only the 'next' end. My query always gets 'end' values that have a 'begin'. I
Hi, I have 1 table with 5 rows. One of the rows has dateTime values. I want to know how many rows there are with a value in that column < today AND how many rows there are with a value in that column > today. I'm not sure how to do this.
SELECT Count(*) WHERE dateColumn <= today AND dateColumn > today gives me everything. I like to end up with a column containing the count of rows <= today and a column with rows where date > today.
Is this possible in SQL or do I have to retrieve all rows and then loop over the resultset and check each row?
I have a table in which each record has a initial date and a final date. I would like to create I query that gives me one row for each month between the initial date and the final date. It would be something like this:
I would like to do that, because these dates correspond to the time in which the products are in possession of sellers, so I would to use this resulting query to generate a pivot chart in Excel to illustrate the value of the goods that are with our sellers in each month.
Is it possible to do it? I think I could do that direct in VBA, but I think that maybe it would be faster if I could do it directly in SQL.
By the way, I am using MS SQL Server and SQL Server Manegement Studio 2012.
I have 2 tables, one is table A which stores Resources Assign to work for a certain period. The structure is as below
Name StartDate EndDate Tan 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000
The table B stores the item process time. The structure is as below
Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate V 2015-04-01 09:30:10.000 2015-04-01 09:34:45.000 Q 2015-04-01 10:39:01.000 2015-04-01 10:41:11.000 W 2015-04-01 11:44:00.000 2015-04-01 11:46:25.000 A 2015-04-01 16:40:10.000 2015-04-01 16:42:45.000 B 2015-04-01 16:43:01.000 2015-04-01 16:45:11.000 C 2015-04-01 16:47:00.000 2015-04-01 16:49:25.000
I need to select the item which process in 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and 2015-04-01 17:30:00. Beside that I need to know how many resource is assigned to process the item in that period of time. I only has the start date is 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and end date is 2015-04-01 17:30:00. How I can select the data from both tables. There is no need for JOIN, just seperate selections.
Another item process time is in 2015-04-01 10:00:00 and 2015-04-04 11:50:59.
The result expected is
Table A
Name StartDate EndDate Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000
Table B
Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate A 2015-04-01 16:30:10.000 2015-04-01 16:32:45.000 B 2015-04-01 16:33:01.000 2015-04-01 16:35:11.000 C 2015-04-01 16:37:00.000 2015-04-02 16:39:25.000
Scenario 2 expected result
Table A
Name StartDate EndDate Tan 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
ProdName Amount TranType P1 100 A P1 100 S P2 200 A P2 205 S
In case the ProdName is same, and Amount = or (within +/- 5%) of Amount, I have to update the TranType column as IN/OUT respectively as shown below in the tables.
I am okay with using 2 different tables if needed as in the records comes in one table and then i can reference that table to upload the values in another.
ProdName Amount TranType P1 100 IN P1 100 OUT P2 200 IN P2 205 OUT
The order of the records coming in can be different order, they need not be subsequent.
Deciding whether or not to use a CTE or this simple faster approach utilizing system tables, hijacking them.
SELECT s.ORDER_NUMBER, s.PRODUCT_ID, 1 AS QTY, s.VALUE/s.QTY AS VALUE FROM @SPLITROW s INNER JOIN master.dbo.spt_values t ON t.type='P' AND t.number BETWEEN 1 AND s.QTY
Just wanted to know if its okay to use system tables in a production environment and if there are any pit falls of using them ?
Part 1: When there is ~ (tilde) and has any value after it then it goes into a new row and duplicating the other columns like the facility in the screenshot attached and new column having the sequence.
Part 2: When there is ^ (Caret) its a new column irrespective of a value present or not
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Equipment]( [EQU] [VARCHAR](50) NOT NULL, [Notes] [TEXT] NULL, [Facility] [VARCHAR](50) NULL) INSERT INTO [dbo].[Equipment] ([EQU] ,[Notes] ,[Facility]) SELECT '1001','BET I^BOBBETT,DAN^1.0^REGULAR^22.09^22.090~BET II^^^REGULAR^23.56^0~','USA' union SELECT '998','BET I^JONES, ALANA^0.50^REGULAR^22.09^11.0450~BET II^^^REGULAR^23.56^0~','Canada' UNION select '55','BET I^SLADE,ADAM F.^1.5^REGULAR^27.65^41.475~','USA' SELECT * FROM dbo.Equipment
I created the table in excel and attached the screenshot for a clear picture as to what is required. I use text to Columns in excel to achieve this not sure if there is anything similar in sql.
ID Description ParentID Level B.01 Parent 1 H B.01.01 Parent 1.1 B.01 H B.01.01.01 Parent 1.1.1 B.01.01 H B.01.01.01.01 Detail 1 B.01.01.01 D B.01.01.01.02 Detail 2 B.01.01.01 D
[Code] .....
That means, only select Level=H, and display the last record of H with concatenated the description of each rows delimited with comma.
Select p.Id [SenderId], p.Username, up.PhotoId, CASE WHEN mr.ReadDate is null then 1 -- New message ELSE 0 -- Message has been read END AS NewMessage, p.LastLoggedIn, p.LoggedIn
[Code] ....
The above query returns me all messages (inbox functionality) that have been sent to mr.ReceipientId, the issue I have is when I send another email to the recipient the readdate field will be null, and the other emails linked to the recipient which have also been sent via me will have a readdate date. This causes duplicate rows to appear due to the case statement, I'm trying to figure out if / how it is possible to only display the one row per conversation and set newmessage to 1 if there is an un-read message otherwise show 0 ?
I get records from a query whose status is "Marked". I need another column to be added to result set which just says "Marked" for every record. Is that possible in query?
I need to remove "rows affected" text from results as shown below from posted Sp. I am using set nocount on but its not working as expected.
Create Procedure DailyCheckList As SET NOCOUNT ON Declare @EmailSub varchar(500),@dt varchar(100),@Msg varchar(max),@M varchar(max) set @dt= convert(varchar(20),GETDATE(),107)
I only want to UniqIds that only have the CODE of ABC... and if it contains ANYTHING other than ABC then It doesnt return that UniqID... Now keep in mind there's multiple different codes.. I'm just looking for a bit of code that drops any ID's that don't have my criteria.
SELECT RN_TEST_ID AS 'Test ID', MAX(RN_EXECUTION_DATE) AS 'Last Execution Date', MAX(RN_EXECUTION_TIME) AS 'Execution Time', RN_DURATION AS 'Run Duration' FROM RUN
1. The query should only return one record for each test id
2. The record returned should be the most recent. By most recent I mean the RN_EXECUTION_DATE and RN_EXECUTION_TIME of the returned row should be the most recent in time.
For example, in the sample data there are multiple rows with the same test id (for example 10668 and 10525. The 10525 is even more problematic since its execution date is the same for both rows returned - the execution times differ. Again, I want one record per test id and that record should be the most recent in time.
I have a below query which have a date filter like "EST_PICK_DATE between '2015-02-01' and '2015-06-01'", where the logic is EST_PICK_DATE should be 3 months from the current month and 1st date of next month. Ex for current month MAY, EST_PICK_DATE shoulc be between '2015-02-01' and '2015-06-01'. I need to write below query dynamically. In below query i have hardcoded the value ("EST_PICK_DATE between '2015-02-01' and '2015-06-01'"), but it should take dynamically. How to achieve this?
I am using this query in SSIS package, So Shall i do in SQL level or we should implement this logic in package? If yes, How?
INSERT INTO STG_Open_Orders (Div_Code, net_price, gross_price) SELECT ord.DIV_CODE AS Div_Code, ord_l.NET_PRICE AS net_price, ord_l.gross_price AS gross_price, FROM ORD ord inner join ORD_L ord_l ONord.ORD_ID=ord_l.ORD_ID WHERE ord_l.EST_PICK_DATE BETWEEN '2015-02-01' AND'2015-06-01'
Here's my statement below. What I'm trying to get is joining the name column in master.sys.databases with a sub query for the database name, file location and backup start date from the MSDB database. The reason for this, if a new database has never been backed up, It should be returning as a NULL value, which is my goal. However, I'm getting multiple results for the backups.
select CONVERT(CHAR(100), SERVERPROPERTY('Servername')) AS Server,a.name,File_Location=b.physical_device_name,backup_start_date=max(backup_start_date) from master.sys.databases a left join(select c.database_name,backup_start_date=max(backup_start_date),b.physical_device_name from msdb.dbo.backupmediafamily b join msdb.dbo.backupset c on c.media_set_id=c.backup_set_id where c.type='D'
So my data column [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is defined as a DATE column. I am trying to SELECT from my table where [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is today's date.
Is this not working because GETDATE() is like a timestamp format? How can I get this to work to return those rows where [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is equal to today's date?
I wish to build a table based on values from another table.I need to populate a table between two dates from another table. Usingthe START_DT and END_DT, create records between those dates.I need a new column that is the days between the date and the MID_DTThe data I wish to end with would look something like this:PERIOD DATE DAY_NO200602 2005-07-06 -89200602 2005-07-07 -88200602 2005-07-08 -87<...>200602 2005-10-02 -2200602 2005-10-03 -1200602 2005-10-04 0200602 2005-10-05 1<...>200602 2005-12-18 75CREATE TABLE "dbo"."tblDates"("PERIOD" CHAR(6) NOT NULL,"START_DT" DATETIME NULL,"MID_DT" DATETIME NULL,"END_DT" DATETIME NOT NULL)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200505',2005-04-12,2005-07-05,2005-09-12)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200602',2005-07-06,2005-10-03,2005-12-18)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200603',2005-10-04,2006-01-17,2006-03-27)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200604',2006-01-18,2006-04-10,2006-06-19)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200605',2006-04-11,2006-07-04,2006-09-11)INSERT INTO tblDates VALUES('200702',2006-07-05,2006-10-02,2006-12-18)
I have a column colC in a table myTable that has a value (e.g. '0X'). The position of a non-zero character in column colC refers to the ordinal position of another column in the table myTable (in the aforementioned example, colB).To get a column name (i.e., colA or colB) from table myTable, I can join ("ON cte.pos = cn.ORDINAL_POSITION") to INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS for that table catalog, schema and name. But I want to show the value of what is in that column (e.g., 'ABC'), not just the name. Hoping for:
COLUMN_NAME Value ----------- ----- colB 123 colA XYZ
I've tried dynamic SQL to no success, probably not executing the concept correctly..Below is what I have:
I want to delete all backup files from a folder older than a specific date. But if I use the beklow query, I need to pass how many days of older backup files I need to delete whereas in my case, I dont know how many days/month/syears of old backup files are there in the backup folder.
I have two tables .. in one (containing user data, lets call it u).The important fields are:u.userName, u.userID (uniqueidentifier) and u.workgroupID (uniqueidentifier)The second table (w) has fieldsw.delegateID (uniqueidentifier), w.workgroupID (uniqueidentifier) The SP takes the delegateID and I want to gather all the people from table u where any of the workgroupID's for that delegate match in w. one delegateID may be tied to multiple workgroupID's. I know I can create a temporary table (@wgs) and do a: INSERT INTO @wgs SELECT workgroupID from w WHERE delegateID = @delegateIDthat creates a result set with all the workgroupID's .. this may be one, none or multipleI then want to get all u.userName, u.userID FROM u WHERE u.workgroupIDThis query works on an individual workgroupID (using another temp table, @users to aggregate the results was my thought, so that's included) INSERT INTO @users SELECT u.userName,u.userID FROM tableU u LEFT JOIN tableW w ON w.workgroupID = u.workgroupID WHERE u.workgroupID = @workGroupIDI'm trying to avoid looping or using a CURSOR for the performance hit (had to kick the development server after one of the cursor attempts yesterday)Essentially what I'm after is: SELECT u.userName,u.userID FROM tableU u LEFT JOIN tableW w ON w.workgroupID = u.workgroupID WHERE u.workgroupID = (SELECT workgroupID from w WHERE delegateID = @delegateID) ... but that syntax does not work and I haven't found another work around yet.TIA!
I'm very green with SQL so I could do with some advice please.
I need to pull some data from a table based on the year portion of a datetime field, so far I've got this...
USE MfgSys803
SELECT orderdate, ordernum FROM orderhed
WHERE ((SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(4),GETDATE(),111)) = (SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(4),ORDERDATE,111) FROM orderhed))
... the field 'orderdate' is the datetime. The purpose of the WHERE statement is to get the current year fromt he system and then compare this to the current year of the field 'orderdate'.
Unfortunately I get the error...
Msg 512, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
... the 'SELECT CONVERT' portions of the WHERE work fine on thier own but I can't use them together.
I am trying to match records that are >= the current date. I have tried using: SELECT DISTINCT name FROM table WHERE datefield >= DATEPART(month, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(day, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(year, GETDATE()) ORDER BY name but this is not giving me the result that I am looking for. What is the best way to match a DateTime field type using the current date without the time?
I need to sum these amounts running from July to the month prior to whatever the current month is. So if it was August, it would only be
Code:
SELECT (JUL_CURR_CREDITS + JUL_CURR_DEBITS) as CURR_AMT
Is there a cleaner (shorter) way to iterate through the twelve months than either writing the query 12 times in an IF statement, or 12 CASE statements? This is only part of a query that joins several tables (not shown).
Any suggestions on the best way to write this would be valued.
Hi, not exactly too sure if this can be done but I have a need to run a query which will return a list of values from 1 column. Then I need to iterate this list to produce the resultset for return. This is implemented as a stored procedure
declare @OwnerIdent varchar(7) set @OwnerIdent='A12345B'
SELECT table1.val1 FROM table1 INNER JOIN table2 ON table1. Ident = table2.Ident WHERE table2.Ident = @OwnerIdent
'Now for each result of the above I need to run the below query
SELECT Clients.Name , Clients.Address1 , Clients.BPhone, Clients.email FROM Clients INNER JOIN Growers ON Clients.ClientKey = Growers.ClientKey WHERE Growers.PIN = @newpin)
I have here a query which delivers me the user data from the last month. The problem what I have is, if employee have more then one rows in this month, they will be also deliverd. But exactly this is not needed. I need only the last record from last month.
SELECT a.FIRMA, a.PSNR, a.FELDNR, a.PFLFDNR, a.INHALT AS FTE, a.PFGLTAB,
As you can see, PSNR=364 has two rows and i need only the row from last month and last date.Maybe we can use Field PFLFDNR as counter. get only one row for every employee?
