Hi all - this one has me stumped... PLEASE HELP!!!
I have a back/forward navigation link that passes a URL.startrow number (lets call it n) - based on n - I only want to select the record that is the n'th record based on a sort order (gall_order) - (SQL SERVER).
<cfquery name="gallHomePic1st" datasource="id" maxrows="1"> SELECT id FROM gall_home ORDER BY gall_order asc </cfquery>
For e.g. - I want the 7th (14th - 21st etc) record based on gall_order asc.
I'm writing a script that gathers a few variables from an outside source, then queries a table and looks for a record that has the exact values of those variables. If the record is not found, a new record is added. If the record is found, nothing happens.
Basically my SELECT statement looks something like this, then is followed by an If... Else statement
SELECT * FROM TableName WHERE LastName = varLastName AND FirstName = varFirstName AND Address = varAddress
If RecordSet.EOF = True Then 'Item Not Found, add new record 'code to add new record...... Else 'Item Found, do nothing End If
RecordSet.Update RecordSet.Close
Even when I try to delete the If.. statement and simply display the records, it comes up as blank. Is the syntax correct for my SELECT statement??
Generating the 4 lines is not the issue; I call 3 functions to do that together with cross apply. One function to get all dates between the start and end date (dbo.AllDays returning a table with only a datevalue column); one function to have these dates evaluated against a work schedule (dbo.HRCapacityHours) and one function to get the absence records (dbo.HRAbsenceHours) What I can't get fixed is having the correct hours per line.
how to select record from the table where the data between a range. example between 2/16/2005 and 12/16/2005. the data record in the table formated like this ( 2/16/2005 11:44:38 PM). help me with some sql code, thanks
I have a base query that will return the ID, StartDate and Code for all IDs. I SELECT only for Codes 5 and 9. For most of the IDs I return a record for both a Code 5 and Code 9. They will have different dates however. How could I select from this base query one record for each ID with the oldest date? The items in yellow are the ones that I would want to return to a report in SSRS. Is there a way to put this data in a temp table and read through it to compare IDs and grab the one with the older date?
I'm very green with SQL so I could do with some advice please.
I need to pull some data from a table based on the year portion of a datetime field, so far I've got this...
USE MfgSys803
SELECT orderdate, ordernum FROM orderhed
WHERE ((SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(4),GETDATE(),111)) = (SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(4),ORDERDATE,111) FROM orderhed))
... the field 'orderdate' is the datetime. The purpose of the WHERE statement is to get the current year fromt he system and then compare this to the current year of the field 'orderdate'.
Unfortunately I get the error...
Msg 512, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
... the 'SELECT CONVERT' portions of the WHERE work fine on thier own but I can't use them together.
I used this statement, select * from table1 where date1 = null, in SQL Query window and got a few records back. Now, I used the same statement in my VB 5 code and no record is found. How do I select all the records in table1 which do not have values in field date1? Thanks for the help.
I have a situation where an agent has number of activities for a certain date range. If an agent has multiple activities within certain date range, I would like BALANCE BEFORE from the first activity and BALANCE AFTER from the last activity. Here is my current SQL query that returns the following data:
DECLARE @BeginDate Datetime DECLARE @EndDate Datetime Set @BeginDate = '05-1-2015' Set @EndDate = '05-31-2015' SELECT a.AgentName, R.BALANCEBEFORE,
[Code] ....
AGENTNAME BALANCE BEFORE BALANCE AFTER DATE DOUGLAS 9738.75 9782.75 2015-05-11 DOUGLAS 9782.75 9804.75 2015-05-12 DOUGLAS 9804.75 9837.75 2015-05-13
In the sample data above, ideally I would like my query to return data as follow:
AGENTNAME BALANCE BEFORE BALANCE AFTER DOUGLAS 9738.75 (from first activity) 9837.75 (from last activity)
Not sure how I can write sql query to accomplish this.
Hi All, Here is my story, how to change a column called Flag_Status based on the maximum Updated date. i.e. i want to make Flag_Status be 1 for the records which have maximum Updated_date (current record) and the rest to make it 0. for example accountID 1 has three records updated, but only one is current the rest are historical, thus i want the history record to be Falg_status 0 and the current record be 1. Note that Inserted_Date and Updated_Date are created using SSIS Derived column During loading the source table, it helps me when each record is inserted into the Data warehouse.
I am trying to match records that are >= the current date. I have tried using: SELECT DISTINCT name FROM table WHERE datefield >= DATEPART(month, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(day, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(year, GETDATE()) ORDER BY name but this is not giving me the result that I am looking for. What is the best way to match a DateTime field type using the current date without the time?
I need to sum these amounts running from July to the month prior to whatever the current month is. So if it was August, it would only be
Code:
SELECT (JUL_CURR_CREDITS + JUL_CURR_DEBITS) as CURR_AMT
Is there a cleaner (shorter) way to iterate through the twelve months than either writing the query 12 times in an IF statement, or 12 CASE statements? This is only part of a query that joins several tables (not shown).
Any suggestions on the best way to write this would be valued.
Hi, I have 1 table with 5 rows. One of the rows has dateTime values. I want to know how many rows there are with a value in that column < today AND how many rows there are with a value in that column > today. I'm not sure how to do this.
SELECT Count(*) WHERE dateColumn <= today AND dateColumn > today gives me everything. I like to end up with a column containing the count of rows <= today and a column with rows where date > today.
Is this possible in SQL or do I have to retrieve all rows and then loop over the resultset and check each row?
I am working on a query that needs to return the record order number with the most recent requested delivery date.
It seems to work most of the time, but I have found some glitches for some of the items.
example is my item 10702, it is showing 2 records (both valid ones) Record 1 is order # 10450-0, requested delivery date 03/21/2014 Record 2 is order # 10510-0, requested delivery date 04/29/2014
I need to only get the records with the most recent delivery date, in this example that would be 04/29/2014
This query is what I have so far:
SELECT s.PriorQuoteNumber ,s.PriorItemNumber ,s.PriorQuoteDate FROM ( SELECT s.SalesQuoteNumberAS 'PriorQuoteNumber'
[code]....
WHERE s.rn = 1What am I missing in my query> how can I change it so it only returns the most recent date?
I have a table like the following (with much more data, but the concept is the same) with Dates and Actions for People and a column called Action with beginning Dates and end dates.
(I attached a picture because I could not figure out how to Format it)
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
I need the query to be like this. The idea is to have the query grab the next 'END' not all Ends, which my attempts have done i.e. I get not just the closest end to the begin date, but ALL Ends with the same Person.
I Need it to look like this:
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
There can be different People so the query Needs to return the beginning and end rows for the Person in sequential order.I can't figure out how to select only the 'next' end. My query always gets 'end' values that have a 'begin'. I
I have a table in which each record has a initial date and a final date. I would like to create I query that gives me one row for each month between the initial date and the final date. It would be something like this:
I would like to do that, because these dates correspond to the time in which the products are in possession of sellers, so I would to use this resulting query to generate a pivot chart in Excel to illustrate the value of the goods that are with our sellers in each month.
Is it possible to do it? I think I could do that direct in VBA, but I think that maybe it would be faster if I could do it directly in SQL.
By the way, I am using MS SQL Server and SQL Server Manegement Studio 2012.
Hi All,I have a table in SQL Server 2000 that contains several million memberids. Some of these member ids are duplicated in the table, and eachrecord is tagged with a 1 or a 2 in [recsrc] to indicate where theycame from.I want to remove all member ids records from the table that have arecsrc of 1 where the same member id also exists in the table with arecsrc of 2.So, if the member id has a recsrc of 1, and no other record exists inthe table with the same member id and a recsrc of 2, I want it leftuntouched. So, in a theortetical dataset of member id and recsrc:0001, 10002, 20001, 20003, 10004, 2I am looking to only delete the first record, because it has a recsrcof 1 and there is another record in the table with the same member idand a recsrc of 2.I'd very much appreciate it if someone could help me achieve this!Much warmth,Murray
I have table "Clients" who have associated records in table "Mailings" I want to populate a gridview using a single query that grabs all the info I need so that I may utilize the gridview's built in sorting. I'm trying to return records containing the next upcoming mailing for each client.
The closest I can get is below: I'm using GROUP BY because it allows me to return a single record for each client and the MIN part allows me to return the associated record in the mailings table for each client that contains the next upcoming 'send_date'
SELECT MIN(dbo.tbl_clients.client_last_name) AS exp_last_name, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.send_date) AS exp_send_date, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id) AS exp_user_id, dbo.tbl_clients.client_id, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.mailing_id) AS exp_mailing_idFROM dbo.tbl_clients INNER JOIN dbo.tbl_mailings ON dbo.tbl_clients.client_id = dbo.tbl_mailings.client_idWHERE (dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id = 1000)GROUP BY dbo.tbl_clients.client_id The user_id set at 1000 part is what makes it rightly pull in all clients for a particular user. Problem is, by using the GROUP BY statement I'm just getting the lowest 'mailing_id' number and NOT the actual entry associated with mailing item I want to return. Same goes for the last_name field. Perhaps I need to have a subquery within my WHERE clause?Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely..
I hope you can help me. I posted this in the microsoft sql server newsgroupa few days ago and got no response so I thought I'd try here. If I canprovide any clarification I'll be glad to do so.I'm trying to calculate a column based on the value of the previous record.I'm not very experienced with SQL-Server.I'm using the following table:CREATE TABLE tblPayment([PaymentID] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL ,[LoanID] [int] NULL ,[PaymentPeriod] [int] NULL ,[PaymentRecDate] [datetime] NULL ,[PaymentAMT] [money] NULL)I have a view based on this table. That view has the following calculatedcolumnsBeginningBalance: For the first record, this is equal to the loan amountfrom the loan table. For each additional record this is equal to the endingbalance from the previous payment record.Interest: BeginningBalance * the monthly interest rate from the loantablePrincipal: PaymentAMT - InterestEndingBalance: BeginningBalance - PrincipalIt might seem I could use a subquery to calculate the Beginning Balance asin:SELECT LoanID, PaymentPeriod, PaymentAMT,(SELECT SUM(PaymentAMT) FROM tblPayment AS tbl1WHERE tbl1.LoanID = tblPayment.LoanID AND tbl1.PaymentPeriod <tblPayment.PaymentPeriod) AS BeginBalanceFROM tblPaymentWHERE (LoanID = @LoanID)But this will not work, because the interest is calculated on the previousmonth's balance. I need to find a way to loop through the recordset. Isthis possible?Thank you,--Derek CooperDatabase9www.database9.com
Can anyone advise me as to how I can add the date and time to 2 columns in the sql server database for each record that is added. I'd prefer not to use the webform. Can sql server add the date automatically to the row? thanks
I have soma ado.net code that inserts 7 parameters in a database ( a date, 6 integers). I also use a self incrementing ID but the date is set as primary key because for each series of 6 numbers of a certain date there may only be 1 entry. Moreover only 1 entry of 6 integers is possible for 2 days of the week, (tue and fr). I manage to insert a row of data in the database, where the date is set as smalldatetime and displays as follows: 1/05/2007 0:00:00 in the table. I want to retrieve the series of numbers for a certain date that has been entered (without taking in account the hours and seconds). A where clause seems to be needed but I don’t know the syntax or don’t find the right function I use the following code to insert the row :
and the following code to get the row back (to put in arraylist):
“SELECT C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 FROM Series WHERE (LDate = Today())? WHERE LDate = '" + DateTime.Today.ToString() + "'"
Which is the correct syntax? Is there a better way to insert and select based on the date?
I don’t get any error messages and the code executes fine but I only get an empty datatable in my dataset (the table isn’t looped for rows I noticed while debugging). Today’s date is in the database but isn’t found by my tsql code I think.
I have a query to run a report where the results has a column named “Due Date” which holds a date value based on the project submission date. Now, I need to add 4 columns named, “45 Days Expectant”, “30 Days Overdue”, “60 Days Overdue” and “90 Days Overdue”.I need to do a calculation based on the “Due Date” and “System (I mean default computer date) Date” that if “System Date” is 45 days+ to “Due Date” than put “Yes” in “45 Days Expectant” row.
Also, if “Due Date” is less than or equal to system date by 30 days, put “Yes” in “30 Days Overdue” and same for the 60 and 90 days.how to write this Case Statement? I have some answers how to do it in SSRS (Report Designer) but I want to get the results using T-SQl.
I have a QA Deployment Date field that is being returned in a custom report I created. I also found a sample date range parameter:
What I want to accomplish:
I want to select a From and To Date and filter the report to only display the rows that have the QA Deployment Date within the selected range.
For example.. I want to select From Date (8/1/2105) and To Date (8/31/2015) and I only want to return only the results that have a QA Deployment date between that selected range.
