Transact SQL :: Comparing Previous Records Based On Each ID Column
Aug 21, 2015
I have a scenario to compare previous records based on each ID columns. For each ID, there would be few records, I have a column called "compare", We have to compare all Compare 1 records with Compare 0 Records. If Dt is lesser or equal to comparing DT, then show 0. Else 1
We always only one Compare 0 records in my table, so all compare 1 columns will compare with only one row per ID
My tables look like
Declare @tab1 table (ID Varchar(3), Dt Date, Compare Int)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('101','2015-07-01',0)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('101','2015-07-02',1)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('101','2015-07-03',1)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('101','2015-07-01',1)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('101','2015-06-30',1)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('102','2015-07-01',0)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('102','2015-07-02',1)
Insert Into @tab1 values ('102','2015-07-01',1)
select * from @tab1
1.) In the above scenario for ID = '101', we have 5 records, first record has Compare value 0, which mean all other 4 records need to compare with this record only
2.) If Compare 1 record's Dt is less or equal to Compare 0's DT, then show 0 in next column
3.) If Compare 1 record's Dt is greater than Compare 0's DT, then show 1 in next column
My expected result set should be like ....

Below is the resultset I got using the following SQL statement
SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY create_date DESC) AS RowNum
,ID
,create_date
,NULL AS end_date
FROM dbo.Table_1
Resultset:
RowNum ID
create_date end_date
1 0001
2015-02-18 NULL
2 0001
2014-04-28 NULL
[Code] ....
Now, I want to update the end_date column with the create_date's values for the next row_number. Desired output is shown below:
RowNum ID
create_date end_date
1 0001
2015-02-18 NULL
2 0001
2014-04-28 2015-02-18
[Code] ....

I have a requirement where i want to delete the records based on the Date column. I have table which contain the columns like machinename ,lasthardwarescandate
I want to delete the records based on the max(Lasthardwarescandate) i.e. latest one, column where the machine name is duplicate menace it repeats. So how would i remove the duplicate machine names based on the Lasthardwarescandate column(There are multiple entries for the Lasthardwarescandate so i want to fetch the latest date column).
Note: Duplication should be removed based on “Last Hardware Scan” date.
Only latest date should be considered from multiple records for the same system. "

I'm storing records that contain a date/time data type. I am needing two links on a reports page (asp), the first should return all records for the current month and the second link should return all records for the last three months (including current month). I have no idea how to just sort by month.
I'm also not sure what to include here in this post to help you answer my question. On the form that is submitted initially the text field is named "txtSubmitDate" and in the database it's stored in a field called "submitdate" and is 8 characters in length.
I've tried:
'SELECT TODAY'S MONTH
SqlJunk = "SELECT * FROM eom WHERE MONTH(submitdate) = MONTH(GETDATE())-1"
'SELECT TODAY'S MONTH and the last 2 months
SqlJunk2 = "SELECT * FROM eom WHERE MONTH(submitdate) = MONTH(GETDATE()) OR MONTH(submitdate) = MONTH(GETDATE())-1 OR MONTH(submitdate) = MONTH(GETDATE())-2 ORDER BY submitdate ASC"
These are not working because it can't handle the change in year (going from january 2005 back to december 2004, etc).
Any ideas?

I need to compare records between two tables. There is no ID in the tables to do a simple join between them. So, what I'm looking for is: get the first record from table1 and read all record from table2 and give me back the most similar record. The String Distance is a predefined function.
Select a.table1
,b.table2
from table1 a, table2 b
where StringDistance (''a.table1,'b.table2') >90

I have this 40,000,000 rows table... I am trying to clean this 'Contacts' table since I know there are a lot of duplicates.
At first, I wanted to get a count of how many there are.
I need to compare records where these fields are matched:
MATCHED: (email, firstname) but not MATCH: (lastname, phone, mobile).
MATCHED: (email, firstname, mobile)
But not MATCH: (lastname, phone)
MATCHED: (email, firstname, lastname)
But not MATCH: (phone, mobile)

I have a table with 1 million records. I want to update only 400 records. The update statement is provided by a 3rd party vendor. Once i run the update statement it will update all the 400 records. Once the table is updated the users will validate the table
if the update is successful or not. What i'm looking for is:
1) Is there a way to identify what records were updated.
2) If the update done is not what the users wanted i need to undo and bring back the 400 records to their previous values.
I'm on sql server 2008.

I have a problem where I have 2 compare 2 records from the same table. This part looks easy but the problem is for a User there can be multiple records and I have 2 compare each record with its previous instance based on the timestamp. Not only I have to compare I have to perform some analysis. Below is the Table script and sample output.
Givens: All SQL Server 2008 or 2012 tools at your disposal.
Production database contains the following tables (simplified for example: constraints ignored, etc.) associated with a racing video game’s server.
-- A player of our game
-- Table greater than 10 million rows
CREATE
TABLE [dbo].[User]
(
[UserId]
[bigint] NOT
NULL
,[country]
[int] NULL
-- User’s home country
,[name]
[nvarchar](15)
NULL -- User’s displayable name (‘John’, ‘Bill’)
,[subscriptionTier]
[int] NULL
)
-- 0 == free, 1 == paid, for instance
Assume that rows get written into the event tables at a rate of 1,000 a minute, are never updated once written and currently are only read on a replica/reporting server.
Question Background: Write up a single query that would return the following: List of users and whose “TotalMoneyEarned” value ever grew (between logon events) at a rate of more than 1,000 per minute (we’d consider these suspicious and flag them for later investigation).
For instance, if the sample data were:
-- example of [Events.UserLogon] data -- not the query output we want
EventId UserId TotalMoneyEarned LogonDate
----------- -------------------- ---------------- -----------------------
1 1 1000 2010-10-16 00:19:56.460
2 1 1500 2010-10-16 00:20:56.460
3 1 3000 2010-10-16 00:21:56.460
4 1 10000 2010-10-16 00:29:56.460
Event 1 is okay because there’s nothing to compare it against
Event 2 is okay because the TotalMoneyEarned only grew 500 in a minute
Event 3 should be flagged, as the value grew 1500 in a minute
Event 4 is okay, as it grew 7,000 in 8 minutes (< 1000 per minute)
Query Output (your query should return data in a format like this):
User Flagged Logon Time Rate Since Last Logon (money/minute)
John 2010-10-16 00:21:56 1500
Dave 2010-10-16 00:30:50 3200
Bill 2010-10-16 00:35:23 1000
It is likely that you will need to create sample data for both the User and [Events.Logon] tables. We are looking for a single query that returns data like what is represented in Query Output.

I have a question about SQL Server.
Table patient:
create table patient (pn int, code int, date date, doctorcode int)
insert into patient (pn,code,date,doctorcode)
values
(1,10,'2015-02-19','100),
(1,10,'2015-02-19','101),
(1,10,'2015-02-19','102),
[Code] ...
Table Patientref:
create table patientref
(pn int,code int, sdate date,edate date,status int)
insert into patientref(pn,code,sdate,edate,status)
values
(1,10,'2015-02-13','2015-02-19',1),
(1,10,'2015-02-19','2015-03-24',2),
[Code] ...
Here we need consider patient dates that fall between sdate and edate of the patientrefs table, and then we need to consider the highest status values in order (for example, the highest values in order - 2 is first highest, 4 is second highest, 3 is third highest, and 1 is fourth highest value)
If the date falls between multiple different sdate and edate with the same status values, then we need to consider the latest sdate value and from that entire record we need to extract that value.
Examples: patient
pn | code | date | doctorcode
2 | 10 |2015-02-12 | 101
2 | 10 |2015-02-13 | 102
2 | 10 |2015-02-14 | 103
Table : Patientref:
pn | code | sdate | edate | Status
2 | 10 |2015-02-08 | 2015-02-19 | 4
2 | 10 |2015-02-09 | 2015-02-19 | 2
2 | 10 |2015-02-10 | 2015-02-19 | 2
2 | 10 |2015-02-11 | 2015-02-18 | 1
Here, pn=2 values have dates which fall between sdate and edate of patientref table. Then we give highest values status is 2, and status 2 values have two records, then we go for max sdate(latest sdate). Then this pn=2 latest sdates is 2015-02-10 and we need to retrieve the corresponding edate and status values.
pn = 4donot have sdate and edate and status values dut not fall conditon
Based on this, the desired output is below:
pn | code | date | doctorcode | sdate |edate |status
1 | 10 |2015-02-19 | 100 |2015-02-19 |2015-03-24 | 2
1 | 10 |2015-02-19 | 101 |2015-02-19 |2015-03-24 | 2
1 | 10 |2015-02-19 | 102 |2015-02-19 |2015-03-24 | 2
2 | 10 |2015-02-12 | 101 |2015-02-10 |2015-02-19 | 2
[Code] ...
I tried it like this:
select p.pn,p.code,p.[date],p.doctorcode,pr.sdate,pr.edate,pr.[status] from patient p
outer apply (select top 1 pr.pn,pr.code,pr.sdate,pr.edate,pr.[status] from patientref pr
where pr.pn=p.pn and pr.code=p.code and p.date between pr.sdate and pr.edate
order by case when pr.status=2
then 1 when pr.status=4 then 2
when pr.status=3 then 3
when pr.status=1 then 4 end ,pr.sdate
)pr
but this query not given expected result.here when dos not fall between sdate and edate that records not given in the above query. I required that records also.if not fall b/w condition then we need retrive that records empty values for that records.

1.) Latest Product type PFE should be A (active) status for the particular ID
2.) At the same time ALL the latest PRI should be C(closed) status for the same ID
I have give example with 3 scenarios and desired output
1.) For ID 101, Latest PFE is active and all latest PRI is closed ----> Should come in result
2.) For ID 102, Latest PFE is Closed and all latest PRI is closed ---->Should NOT come in result

I need to compare the contents of a column.
I have a table with 1 column. Below are the sample contents..
DateInterval
2012-06-01 00:30:00.000
2012-06-01 01:00:00.000
2012-06-01 01:30:00.000
2012-06-01 02:00:00.000
2012-06-01 02:30:00.000
[code]....
as you can see, the records have a 30minutes time interval. i need to create a query to know if there are missing records in the table. so basically the result should be this:
DateInterval
2012-06-01 18:00:00.000
2012-06-01 20:30:00.000
if it is not doable, we can get the nearest record of all missing records like this:
DateInterval
2012-06-01 17:30:00.000
2012-06-01 20:00:00.000
or this:
DateInterval
2012-06-01 18:30:00.000
2012-06-01 21:00:00.000
or this:
DateInterval
2012-06-01 17:30:00.000
2012-06-01 18:30:00.000
2012-06-01 20:00:00.000

I have a MS SQL table with a derived column, for date the records were imported, and need to delete records, based on the content of this column. What I need to do is delete all records from the table with a date of '2011-11-18'. Now this column is a datetime column, so it contains the time info after the date, i.e. 2011-11-18 09:29:38.000, but no matter what command I try for this:
-Delete from table where Date_Imported like '2011-11-18%'
-Delete from table where Date_Imported like '2011-11-18'
-Delete from table where Date_Imported = 2011-11-18
It comes back saying "0 rows affected", even though I know there are records with that date in the table.

declare @hp tinyint
select @hp=lists.classes.hp from lists.classes where lists.classes.classID=inserted.classID

Ticket Type | Company A Count | Company B Count | Company C Count
I can get the information individually for each company, but if a company doesn't have a ticket in one of the ticket_types, then it isn't displayed in a row. So, I tried to write the following, which isn't pulling back any data.
DECLARE @startdate date = '20150306'

DECLARE @AcctGrp varchar(20) = '111'
;WITH TType
AS
(
SELECT ctp.description as TicketType
[Code] .....
If I run each SELECT individually from above (excluding the last SELECT), it works and I get the following:
TicketType
AR Request Credit
Availability/Rush
Cancel Order
Credit Card Payment
Expedite Order
Freight Quote
[Code] ...
How to get the query results? Am I even close to getting it right?

The data I have is as follows -
ID1 ID2 Date Action
100 500 09/08/14 Open
100 500 09/24/14 Close
101 510 07/10/15 Open
101 510 07/19/15 Close
The output I want in a single result set is -
ID1 ID2 Open_Date Close_Date
100 500 09/08/14 09/24/14
101 510 07/10/15 07/19/15
Any way to do this in T-SQL .

Below is the SQL Query i am currently having
SELECT IG_FinancialTransactionSummary.ClaimNum,IG_FinancialTransactionSummary.TransactionCode,
IG_FinancialTransactionSummary.TransactionDate,IG_FinancialTransactionSummary.Username,
FinancialTransactionSummaryTest.ClaimNum,FinancialTransactionSummaryTest.TransactionAmount,
FinancialTransactionSummaryTest.UserName--,FinancialTransactionSummaryTest.TransactionDate
[Code] ....
And here is the result dataset
ClaimNumTransactionDateUsername ClaimNum TransactionAmountUserName
2000074 20150209jerry.witt 2000074 -10000DATAFIX INSERTED ON 20150626 AT 162152493 LOCAL
2000074 20150626DATAFIX INSERTED ON 20150626 AT 162152493 LOCAL 2000074 -10000DATAFIX INSERTED ON 20150626 AT 162152493 LOCAL
[Code] .....
So,if we look at the result set, we notice 2 conditions where the IG_FinancialTransactionSummary.Username is like 'Data' and if we see the transaction date then sometimes that is the max transaction date or sometimes there are transactions that happened after but that doesn't have like '%data%' in username . So, i need to add a new column to my sql query which should basically verify if the username is like '%data%' and if that is the max(transaction date) or even if there are any transactions after that doesn't have like '%data%' then YES else No.

I have a table that is used to build rules. The rules point to other columns in other tables and usually contain only one value (i.e. ABC). But one of the options is to add a comma-separated list of SSNs (i.e. 123123123,012012012,112231122). I am trying to build a single query that allows me to leverage that list to get multiple rows from another table.
This obviously works:
SELECT * FROM vw_Person_Profile P (NOLOCK)
WHERE P.PrsnPIISSN_Chr IN ('123123123','012012012','112231122')
But this does not:
SELECT * FROM vw_Person_Profile P (NOLOCK)
WHERE P.PrsnPIISSN_Chr IN (
SELECT '''' + REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(4000),txtFieldValue), ',', ''',''') + ''''
FROM MassProcessing_Rules PR
WHERE PR.intRuleID = 10
)

See below example .....how should i write the query which will give me the desired output. i.e., get min(effdate) and max(termdate) if termdate is one day less than the effdate of next record.
