I am not sure this is the right place to post this, but I could find a better place.
I uploaded a document in the SQL Server (image datatype), but I was not able to save file Type since there is no field for that, and cannot change the database.
Now I download the saved file. Is there any way to extract file Type from the saved file (like from file header?) and open it with an appropriate program such as doc file with MS Word?
My situation is that Excel files are to be downloaded into a SQL Server 2005 table (perhaps as type image or nvarchar), which serves as a document repository. From there, they should be converted to XML. Use of an NT file directory is strongly discouraged. I would like to have SSIS read the Excel from one field in a table and then write the XML into another field in the same (or perhaps another) table. Is this possible? If not, is the a strait-forward way to do this?
Also, I€™m hoping to invoke the SSIS script from a SQL Server INSERT trigger so the conversion is done during the INSERT.
I have a report that is scheduled to run a once a week. This works fine. But now I would like this report to be saved as an Excel file automatically when it runs. how / where do I do this?
This is a pretty simple question, but I'm going nuts trying to find the answer. After creating an SSI package, I told it to save to the SQL server... Now where do I go to pull that package up again and make changes and/or execute the package?
I hope someone can help me with this - I started receiving this error message in the past month or so when I open a csv report and save it as an Excel file in a folder I use on my VPN and in My Documents. It does not show up when I save it to my Desk Top.
I have Microsoft Office Student and Teacher and Office XP Professional installed on my notebook. I tried to uninstall Office XP and it would not let me. Something about a "patch could not be opened......"
I am calling a procedure that will save a file to PDF. It runs successfully. When I go to look at the PDF, I get a message, "Acrobat reader could not open 'Doc.pdf' because it is either not a support file or because the file has been damaged."
Hello everyone. I have an interesting problem. We have a SQL database with a field that is an image type. In it are records where the image field are text files. What I would like to do is look at these files and stream them line by line and do some processes for each line read. So let's say a client machine uploaded a file called myfile.txt into this database. I would like the asp.net (vb) application tkae this file and read each line and do some processing. I looked at memorystream and streamreader but just can not figure this out. Can you please help? Thank you Kameron
I have an SSIS package that pipes data from an iSeries data source to a SQL Server table. The connection manager I am using is the .Net ProvidersOdbc Data Provider
When I run this SSIS package on my developer PC (from inside BIDS or using the Management Studio Execute Package Utility) it works. However when I run the package from within a SQL Server Agent Job it fails.
I have enabled logging and the error message given is: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [28000] [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver]Communication link failure. comm rc=8002 - CWBSY0002 - Password for user MALLPRESS on server SMICHC is not correct, Password length = 0, Prompt Mode = Never, System IP Address = 172.16.0.4 ERROR [28000] [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver]Communication link failure. comm rc=8002 - CWBSY0002 - Password for user MALLPRESS on server SMICHC is not correct, Password length = 0, Prompt Mode = Never, System IP Address = 172.16.0.4 It gives the message €śPassword length = 0€? despite the fact that I have specified a password in the package.
To try to get around this I have added an XML configuration file to the SSIS package. In this configuration file I€™ve set values for the ConnectionString, UserName, and Password. I still get the above error about a password length of 0.
I have also tried to execute the package using dtexec, but this gives a similar error. The SQL used to run this is: xp_cmdshell 'dtexec /sq "SCSRV-06DTS PackagesStagingStagingBranchImport"'
This has got me stumped, and I€™m not sure where to go from here as these packages need to be programmatically run each morning. At the moment I am manually running them from within BIDS. All packages that don€™t use an iSeries connection manager run successfully in SQL Agent jobs. I have also tried using the OLEDB connection manager (ibm db2 udb for iseries ibmda400 ole db provider) without success.
I am trying to locate the solution file for the Adventure works DW included as part of the installation of SQL Server 2005 to be opened in Business Intelligence Development Studio, But where is the solution file saved? I can see its database from Management studio but I need to know its solution file to locate it in Business intelligence studio. Please could anyone here give me some idea about that. Thanks a lot in advance for any help and guidance for that.
hi i have question can sql server know when the row in table Saved add new field call "date_row_save" date+time inside the my table in the sql server i need to know whan the row last Saved evry row put date time TNX
Eventually with hosting in mind, what are the pros and cons of designing one's backend as a file ( within the Website directory) as compared to creating the database onthe egistered SQL server of the development machine? e.g. If I go thru SQL Server express 2005 and create a new db say MyDb, it creates it on the default SQL server of my machine, (without prompting for the DB files physical location.. I'm sure one would have to search) Is it the same as choosing between MSDE Vs SQL Server 8 in the VS 6.0 era? oris there more than meets the eye? Any known best practices, performance issues etc? Thanks ----------- Too many clicks, spoil the browse -------------
I have saved an SSIS pacakage on my sql server. I am able to see and run the package through Integrations services. My question is, is there a way to edit the package through Management studio?
Is it possible to open a package that is saved to a server??
The reason being is I develop on desktop but some of the development I cannot do due to access restrictions.... So I want to save the package to the server then do the final creation there...
Please can anybody help me in transferring existing SSIS Packages saved in a shared folder location from development server 2ED to Live server TWD1. Both has SQL server 2005 running and has visual studio 2005 Currently about 25 SSIS packages are executed from the development server transferring data on Live server TWD1...these ETL process is called from development server but executed on live server. Now the problem is when i call these packages from the shared folder from live server it crashes.....i need to changes something to shift the whole package to the live server..and execute on live server itself instead of recreating the whole 25 process from scratch.....also i use optimize for many tables ..and run in a single trancastion....so how can i see the mappings of source and destination tables.
Please let me know the process how i can achieve this. Thanks George
I have exported data usinng SQL Export Data wizard. I saved in the database, but now I can not see where it is. What option in SQL Manager to see/open the package?
can sql server know when the row in table Saved CREATE TRIGGER date time on the ROW ? add new field call "date_row_save" date+time inside the the sql server i need to know whan the row Saved is it possible to do this in TRIGGER ? TNX
I have one column in SQL Server 2005 of data type VARCHAR(4000).
I have imported sql Server 2005 database data into one mdb file. After importing a data into the mdb file, above column data type converted into the memo type in the Access database.
now when I am trying to import a data from this MS Access File(db1.mdb) into the another SQL Server 2005 database, got the error of Unicode Converting a memo data type conversion in Export/Import data wizard.
Could you please let me know what is the reason?
I know that memo data type does not supported into the SQl Server 2005.
I am with SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with SP2.
Please help me to understans this issue correctly?
I have a XML file (download XML File below at URL) stored in a SQL Column of XML type. The column with the XML file is named CurrentPackageXML in a table called dbo.
I am currently working on project where I need to insert, delete and update data from a text file I receive into multiple tables. So the file has multiple recordset types(50 to be exact) and each record has a a code to perform an -Update, Insert, or Delete to the destination table. Also when I receive the records they are not sorted. I need to sort the sets for each destination table and then read the the sorted set sequentially and perform the correct action.
Currently I am importing the record via flatfilesource into one column. I am using a script component here that would consist I guess 50 outputs including the fields needed for each table. The outputs are sorted by sortkey field and when I add the record to the output I perform data type transforms needed for each field(most are strings but I need to convert some dates, numbers ect..).
***is there a better way of accomplishing this?***
(ps. I could use the conditional split and the derive column into the 50 different table but it was giving me errors that were almost forcing me to use a nvarchar type instead of a varchar type during some of the field transformations.)
At this point I would need to read through each of the outputs sequentially and perform the update, insert or delete into the needed table. Would I have to create 50 script components with an ADO.net recordset adapter to update the tables for each of the outputs? I am hoping you can help come up with a better way to accomplish all of this.
Also if I do need to update the tables with the script component could someone point me to an example of how to programmatically accomplish that. Thanks for any help of suggestions that you may provide as I am feeling kind of stuck.
Hi, I have a script written in ASP to load data file (.csv) to ms sql. In the script, I have a portion of script looks like taht : ..... Do While NOT oInFile.AtEndOfStream oOutFile.WriteLine Replace(oInFile.Readline, chr(13), vbcrlf)Loop ..... After that, I will use a BULK INSERT to input data to ms sql. I am wondering how do I convert each row (data) to vbcrlf in Stored Procedure? Coz' I did not compose the convertion part, and I got no error when running BULK INSERT, but no rows are inserted :( HELP!!!! I guess it's because the file is not being converted into a correct format??
I've a text file which having a datetime column value like YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS.XXXXXX. I cannot convert this is to datetime format from text file using BCP utility.Â
Presence of hypen "-" between DD and HH, the SQL server does not accept this is as Datetime.
Is there any option to covert the date value in format file in BCP.
I have excel column with numeric and special character values , when I take that into SQL table using SSIS, the special character values enter as null value. the example column values are given bellow
1 2 2/1Â 1/2 1/2 means 1 or 2 ,
how can I read this values exactly into SQL table?
When I submit data through my website one particular field which is drop down field and has 4 values (5, 10, Fee, other) saves as "undefined" I get no errors through the web site.
I recently viewed an application which included customizable savable reports. In the first step, the user selects from a very large (probably over a hundred) set of variables to include in the report (these would be the columns displayed in the report). In a second step, the user selects (from the same set of variables) which variables they want to set as criteria indicators (these would then be dropdowns and text boxes on the report that would filter the query results).
So, how do they do this? Lets take the AdventureWorks database as an example. Lets say the user can select the following variables to include in their report:
How do you design this in the database? If you have a table that holds all of the possible variables, and a table that connects the user-selected variables to the user – how then do you construct the query that pulls it all together? For example, what if a user wants only these two variables in their report:
Product.Name Vendor.Name
Here is the query:
select p.name as ProductName, v.name as VendorName from Production.Product as p inner join Purchasing.ProductVendor as pv on pv.ProductID = p.ProductId inner join Purchasing.Vendor as v on v.VendorId = pv.VendorId
How do you build that query from just getting two variable names?
