I have 20 computers with oem 7.1 that need to be upgrade on each computer. Instead of going to each computer I was wondering if there is a way to do it unattended? If you can how do you handle issues that may come up during installation?
View 1 RepliesDecided to upgrade my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10 today (got the Pro 3 so this is kind of a test toy now) and after the upgrade I have no network connections.
Device manager shows it is installed and working properly however there are no network adapters listed in Network Connections.
I tried plugging my Cat5 Dongle in and it seemed to recognize and install drivers etc... but again, its listed as working properly in device manager but its not showing up in Network connections.
I m have activated my windows 7 on laptop using same shared key used for my business computers. If I will upgrade my laptop to windows 10, will it affect other computers which are using same key.
View 2 Repliesafter upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I have no internet connection.From looking around various forums the problem is usually a VPN or anti virus issue so I have used the f secure removal tool to uninstall my anti virus and used revo uninstaller to remove hotspot shield VPN from my PC before upgrading with no success. The network connections icon looks connected when the pc is first turned on then it changes to the yellow exclamation mark. I have updated the network adpater driver to the latest and also tried plugging in a USB wireless adapter which has the same problem. Will refresh your pc in windows 10 resolve this issue and does this remove all my saved files?
View 5 RepliesWindows 10 upgrade results in the Network Center not showing any network connections. The troubleshooting wizard does not detect the issue or rectify it. There are a lot of reports on the web supposedly related to pre-installed Cisco VPN or other VPN software.
The downside is that without this feature, crown jewels... Cortana and Edge do not work.
I was with win7. Everything was working fine. I upgraded to win 10. Now my computer does not recognize my wireless network. My dual display does not work.

I recently bought an Ethernet cord to enhance my gaming performance, but when I plug it in it says identifying for a little while then says unidentified network no Internet. My friend came over and tried it on his laptop and it worked for his Windows 8.1 . I have a Comcast router/modem combo and have it hooked to a western digital router which is what the Ethernet cord is run from.
View 9 RepliesSo after 2 failed attempts at installing Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire Z5801 PC, I finally managed to succeed. However, a new problem appeared after installation.The Wireless network adapter went completely missing. Windows does not detect its existence at all, it's like the PC doesn't have one installed. It doesn't appear in Device manager + isn't listed as an "unknown device". It's simply not there at all.The wired network adapter is there, but not wireless.
Installing the driver from Acer's website - I had to select Windows 7 64-bit as the version is all that's available for my adapter.I used a USB stick to transfer the setup files to the Acer PC. It said it successfully installed but still didn't appear, even after a reboot.Used a USB wireless adapter (Netgear) to see if it was an issue with how Windows 10 handles Wi-Fi - nope, that installed and worked fine.Scanning for Windows updates after using the USB adapter. Some updates were found and installed (no driver ones though), but still no Wi-Fi.
In the end, I reverted back to Windows 7 and what do you know? The adapter got recognised again.The USB adapter isn't a viable solution since it's required by another PC. I just used it for testing purposes.
I have DELL Inspiron 14R N4010. Automatic upgraded to Windows 10 Home. Previously I have Windows 7 Home Premium. After upgrade I didn't see the wired network adapter. However my wifi is working fine and can access Internet. I tried to re-install the LAN driver (Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Driver); it ask for upgrade/repair/de-install means driver is already present in the system. In spite of that upgraded the dirver (got the upgraded driver setup from Dell). Unfortunately, the device is still not visible in device manager.

All three machines can see all available network devices, including each other.All three machines can successfully access and interact with third party network devices. In this case, it is a NAS and a network printer.The windows 8.1 machine can access each of the other windows 10 machinesNeither Windows 10 machines can access any other windows share on the network.
This gets me error 80070035 with diagnostics telling me nothing
All three machines are on a Homegroup and while each can see, no one can access anything
Trouble shooting tried:
Double checked all sharing settings on all three computers. Almost everything time I try to access my htpc that has shares I get this error. I just keep clicking the folder and it will finally let me in. The PC is up and running so not sure why this does this almost everything I try to access the share.
My PC is windows 10 pro the HTPC is win7 ultimate.
I have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.
How do I automatically mirror files from a hard disk drive to a network folder?
In this case I want to mirror the contents of an entire disk containing photos (no system files) to a shared folder on an OpenMediaVault server running on my home network.
This is separate from the regular backup of the rest of my system which is done with backup software. For the contents of this disk, I don't want them compressed into a backup container file. I want them to be exact duplicates of the original files, kept up to date in that shared network location (login required).
Also, it doesn't matter if they update in real time. Once a day is fine, for example.
How do I remove "Network Locations" from Windows Explorer without turning off my network? I just don't want to view it in Windows Explorer.
View 6 RepliesEverything about my network worked fine on Windows 8. With Windows 10 I have been unable to access PC's on my router. Internet work fine, I see the PC's on network in homegroup, But gives me the dreadful and nonsensical error:
Worth noting that my windows 8 laptop can access these computers no problem. but my windows 10 pc's can access ANY pc's

I have been fighting this problem ever since Windows 7. Every time I try to access my computer from another device on my network, I find I am unable to connect. I go into the Ethernet settings, and see that Make This PC Discoverable is turned off. If I switch it on, go back, and then immediately open the settings again , it is switched off again. When I look at my Network and Sharing Center, my network is set to Public network.
The only way I've been able to successfully set it to Private and keep the Make This PC Discoverable setting turned on is to change the Category setting in the registry for my network to 1. It works, and I'm able to do whatever it was I wanted to do over the network. But then the next time I want to access my PC from my LAN again, same thing.I have tried all the suggestions I can find, most of which are mentioned here: Network Location - Set to Private or Public in Windows 8.Nothing prevents it from going back to Public again after a while.This is incredibly frustrating as it completely defeats the purpose of having a local area network!
I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre preloaded with Windows 10 Pro. Sometimes when I go to File Explorer and click on Network it shows something called "Ralink Linux Client" connected to my home network. When I select its properties the only information I get is it's MAC address. But the funny thing is when I check my router's list of connected devices the Ralink Linux Client doesn't show up on my router's list even though it shows up on Network on my computer. I am using a Buffalo WHR-300HP router. I also have a Thinkpad notebook computer running Windows 7 Pro on my home network and this phantom device never shows up on Network on the Thinkpad. This Ralink Linux Client comes and goes on my Thinkcentre showing up sometimes but not all the time.
I tried researching this on the Web and apparently others have had this problem too both with Windows 7 and Windows 8. But I am reading conflicting information about what might be going on. One forum poster suggested that this means that the router connected to the network is picking up another router within range. Someone else suggested that this is actually something to do with the local router's internal components.
edit - My Thinkcentre is connected to my router via Ethernet. My Thinkpad is connected wirelessly.

Upgrading from win 8.1 Pro to win10. Seemed to be going well and then saw lost internet connection in systray. Troubleshooting came up with "windows sockets registry entries required for network connection are missing". I can connect to the internet but not to the LAN.

Investigations revealed....one or more Network Protocols are missing on this computer, also Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing....this on both Ethernet and wireless but they had been working perfectly since the update last week.
My laptop supposedly required "Internet connections Package Version 3.0 Publisher Microsoft Windows."
After messing about for an hour without success I loaded the 1511.. ISO.. knowing that I could not connect to the internet to download anything, this seemed to solve the problem, (fingers crossed) I can only assume this made the internet connection possible.

I have two computers that I'm trying to get to communicate with each other so I can move files back and forth between them. My plan is to make one of them the home's backup and main storage system. the problem is that I can only seem to get one of them to actually communicate equally. Computer 1 is a factory Lenovo Intel i3 computer. Computer 2 is a home made AMD that I just built a few weeks ago.
Both are running Win 10 Pro.
Both are physically attached to the router. Heck, they're physically stacked on each other on my desk....
Using File Explorer, on the left side Panel under Network, it shows both computers: AMD and Lenovo.
Computer 1(factory) is able to the files on Computer 2 easily by going over through File Explorer. But, if I click on one of the files, I get the message that I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION. If I try to cut/Paste files from Computer 1 to computer 2, I get the same message.
Computer 2. I am also able to see the computer listed under Network in the left panel. When I click on Computer 1 to access it, I get a Network Error Windows cannot access Lenovo (Computer1) Error code 0x80070035
I've tried the Diagnose option and it doesn't work.
If I click on a Drive under Network on the very computer, I can see the drives, I can see the directory list. If I click on a file, I get the error. Example on the left side panel on my AMD computer I select:
>AMD
>C:
>PerfLogs
It's at this point that I get the error: Windows cannot access amdcPerfLogs as an example
I've tried running through Homegroup setup and Googled for days on setting up a network with Windows 10 and can't seem to figure out what I'm not doing here to make these computers talk and communicate with each other. I eventually, want to get all my computers to talk to the AMD so I can use it for a main storage/backup for the home network.
