In this case I want to mirror the contents of an entire disk containing photos (no system files) to a shared folder on an OpenMediaVault server running on my home network.
This is separate from the regular backup of the rest of my system which is done with backup software. For the contents of this disk, I don't want them compressed into a backup container file. I want them to be exact duplicates of the original files, kept up to date in that shared network location (login required).
Also, it doesn't matter if they update in real time. Once a day is fine, for example.
My Dell laptop which is windows 10 only has a chronic problem with the adapter constantly needing to be reset. Searching for similar problems led me to the possibility of a USB adapter.

After two days of enjoying Windows 10, my internet just started going out. The pc would freeze for a sec and then id get a red x in the bottom and my wifi would be gone. In device manager, it always shows my wifi network adapter operation was unsuccessful. I switched to a different adapter and installed the latest drivers, which say are compatible with windows 10, and the same issue still happens. I also tried some CMD command I found online related to old VPNs and that didn't work.
Usually it only fixes if i unplug and replug the adapter. Disabling and enabling doesn't work. I repaired winsock and renewed tcp/ icp and that didn't work.. What can I do? I cant go 20 minutes without losing internet.
My computer just won't sleep for longer than 15 minutes, I've disabled wake-timer in the advanced power options. I also disabled my keyboard, mouse, network, adapter, and everything else in my device manager that could possibly be waking my computer up without me wanting to do so. I also checked my cmd logs for devices armed to turn my PC on.Checked the Event Viewer aswell but in the log it says whatever keeps turning my PC on is 'Unknown'.
View 1 RepliesOk so got a new usb WiFi adapter. I installed the driver first which I downloaded on my phone then transferred to my pc via usb cable. Have tried reinstalling multiple times, still won't work. I'm guessing the problem is there's no win 10 drivers for it. NOTE: I did have a old usb adapter working with no driver before but not even that's working even with drivers uninstalled. The new adapter shows up in device manager with a problem indicated with a code 10.But not in network devices.

View 1 RepliesSo after 2 failed attempts at installing Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire Z5801 PC, I finally managed to succeed. However, a new problem appeared after installation.The Wireless network adapter went completely missing. Windows does not detect its existence at all, it's like the PC doesn't have one installed. It doesn't appear in Device manager + isn't listed as an "unknown device". It's simply not there at all.The wired network adapter is there, but not wireless.
Installing the driver from Acer's website - I had to select Windows 7 64-bit as the version is all that's available for my adapter.I used a USB stick to transfer the setup files to the Acer PC. It said it successfully installed but still didn't appear, even after a reboot.Used a USB wireless adapter (Netgear) to see if it was an issue with how Windows 10 handles Wi-Fi - nope, that installed and worked fine.Scanning for Windows updates after using the USB adapter. Some updates were found and installed (no driver ones though), but still no Wi-Fi.
In the end, I reverted back to Windows 7 and what do you know? The adapter got recognised again.The USB adapter isn't a viable solution since it's required by another PC. I just used it for testing purposes.
I recently brought a new wireless network adapter for usb (Asus usb N14) and since I've started using it the connection is really unstable, I'm on the same connection on my iphone and it's just fine but on my pc it's really struggling, I've ran speed tests and it'll work fine when randomly it'll just go down, I'll still be connected to the router but have no internet. Right now looking at the wifi graph in task manager it literally going straight up for a few seconds then straight back to 0 when downloading a file, and I'm unable to download any large files because it'll just fail after about 30 seconds.
I've updated it to the latest version with no change in performance or reliability. One other thing I'm at Uni so other people will be using the connection and I've no access to the router unfortunately.
I cant create a virtual wifi network using this command : netsh wlan start hostednetwork (the "set" command works)
the solution is to enable Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter which is missing , and yes i tried to show hidden devices ..
I decided to take the plunge and install win 10 on one of my machines. Used windows update to install build 10074 from windows 7.
Everything seems to have worked fine except my network adapter (onboard Realtek thing) isn't being detected.
Figured this might be a driver thing so I installed various versions of the realtek drivers both win 7 and win 8 ones and these seem to install fine but then cannot detect the card. The installer gives an error that the card may be in "Deep Sleep mode".
Once installed the Device "REaltek PCIe GBE Family Controller" appears in device manager with no issues or conflicts, but nothing is in the Network Connections window when I go through Network and Sharing centre.
I have tried booting to the trouble shooting menu and selecting load unsigned drivers but this has not worked.
I rolled back to Win 7 and the card came back and all connectivity was restored. Re-installed win10 and back to the same issue.
I have DELL Inspiron 14R N4010. Automatic upgraded to Windows 10 Home. Previously I have Windows 7 Home Premium. After upgrade I didn't see the wired network adapter. However my wifi is working fine and can access Internet. I tried to re-install the LAN driver (Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Driver); it ask for upgrade/repair/de-install means driver is already present in the system. In spite of that upgraded the dirver (got the upgraded driver setup from Dell). Unfortunately, the device is still not visible in device manager.
View 4 RepliesI have a problem with Windows 10 Network Sharing feature. It assigns fine the IP address 192.168.137.1 to the network card that acts as the bridge to connect other computers to the Internet. But it's not working, and when one goes to the share NIC adapter and right-click on it and select PROPERTIES, and then from the list of it shows one select :
"Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then you see that everything is fine, the IP address 192.168.137.1 shows there and the subnet 255.255.255.0 also there. BUT ONCE YOU CLICK ON OK in that window, another Window POPS UP and a message saying:
"The IP address 192.168.137.1 you have entered for this network adapter has already being assigned to another adapter (in parenthesis it shows the same adapter that it's assigned in the SHARING tab in the main adapter), so there is not way to get out of that 'network card properties'. further down the message in that window says: DO YOU WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE IP ADDRESS FOR THIS ADAPTER? and the choices are: YES or NO
The command Line in an MSDOS window run as administrator: IPCONFIG /ALL doesn't shows any other virtual or real NIC with the IP address 192.168.137.1 except for the one that was assigned in the "Sharing" tab in the properties of the real NIC that connects directly to the ISP box.
I don't know if I have explained well this issue, but all I can say it's that no other network adapter has that IP address. I have a VirtualBox virtual adapter that it has an IP address totally different, the same as another Virtual VMWare adapter.
I even went to control panel > Device Manager > Delete both NIC's (the one that connects directly to the Internet and the one that acts as the SHARING network, and the issue remains the same.
I cannot use the Wireless Router to connect my tablets or WI-FI Cellphones.
I have several Operating Systems in the Same Computer to boot with, and Windows 8.1 for instance Network Sharing works fine in the same computer.

Network adapters: Ralink RT5390R 8-2.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter (Date: 5/18/2015, Version: 5.0.57.0), and Realtek PCle FE Family Controller (Date: 4/01/2015, Version: 9.1.401.2015)
Problem: Every once in a while, I'll lose my internet connection. When I click the wifi icon on the taskbar, there will be no networks listed. The only way to fix the problem is to go the Device Manager, disable the Ralink Wi-Fi Adapter and then re-enable it. This fixes the problem anywhere from a of couple minutes to a couple of hours, then it happens again.
Solutions I've tried: I've tried doing a system restore but it failed and there are no more restore points. I've tried uninstalling the Ralink driver, downloading a new copy, and reinstalling it.
My laptop, an Acer, has been freezing multiple times a day recently. Sometimes I get a blue screen eventually that tells me there's been a WHEA error, sometimes none of that. Yesterday, I kept staring at the screen for a while instead of restarting, and eventually it recovered. I could see the processor activity climb to 100%, and that interrupts claimed up to 14% of the activity. Afterwards, the network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros AR956x) was turned off, apparently because of a 'code 12' - 'insufficient available resources'.
That problem was only resolved after a restart. When I shut the computer down, I got a screen telling the computer was being 'prepared' for a long time - sometimes I also see a blue screen showing the installation of updates at start-up, even if none were waiting to be installed. The drivers for the network adapter are up to date, version 10.0.0.318 (apparently dating from May 2015). I'm quite sure this is a software issue - 'chkdsk' doesn't find any problems, nor does 'sfc /scannow'. And a friend of mine with an Apple laptop running Windows 10 (we've never exchanged USB sticks or anything) has exactly the same problem since installing Windows 10 (different network adapter however, and seems to have improved recently).
Is this strange. When I change my desktop wallpaper on one PC it changes to the same picture on my second PC. and I haven't even downloaded the wallpaper on the second machine.

The time i have installed windows 10 my wifi & audio started creating some problems. Everytime I switch on me laptop i have restart it again to connect it to a LAN or a network & the same thing happens with the audio too, it automatically gets disabled & to enable it i have to troubleshoot the problems to fix it.
View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 now and my computer takes forever to go on my homepage. It says 'windows couldn't connect to group policy client services. prevents standard users from signing in'. It also takes a long time to sign out and google chrome takes forever to come up. Windows edge sometimes works a little faster. I wish I never accepted windows 10. My daughter moved away to university and I'll never be able to figure out how to fix this. I tried to use the windows 10 app 'contact support' but it didn't work.

I am asking this cause i am planning to upgrade these days, but i also have plans to upgrade my cpu during the next year which will ultimately require a new motherboard. So i just want to know if i can upgrade without worrying that once i change my motherboard that the OS will become invalid and that i will need a new one.
View 1 RepliesI had a kali linux installed in my computer. Then I tried to install Windows 10 using a bootable USB drive. (I created it by downloading the windows 10 ISO and then creating USB drive using Rufus.) But when I was trying to install windows 10, it shows my hard drive, but it doesn't installing to it. Error message is the following:

I followed all the instructions there. Cleaned my hard disk using DISKPART and formatting and stuff. Then I rebooted my machine. But, still it shows the same error.
I find myself zooming in and out of pages in chrome a lot and would like to start using the magnifier. I was just wondering if I could make it a whole lot easier based on how frequently I would be using it by being able to bind it to a single, extra mouse button. It would be quite handy if I could turn it on and off with a single button rather than a key combo shortcut, I don't want it on all the time and would most likely be turning it on and off very frequently.
View 1 RepliesI get the Driver overran stack buffer error with BSOD randomly sometimes while gaming (rust, dishonored, Skyrim, civ 5, and most any other game). I have manually updated the drivers for my motherboard, video card, and peripheries. I also randomly get the irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD during the same things (though this one appears to only happen when internet windows are open thru chrome and/or Microsoft edge). My game files are on an external Toshiba hard drive.
