Installed Windows 10 on HP Pavillion p7-1262 about 2 weeks ago. Worked fine up until last Friday, screen went black, no keyboard entry, no mouse cursor. Can't enter BIOS. Whats wrong?
View 3 RepliesOkay, so I reserved my free copy of Windows 10 a few days ago, and tried to install this morning. It all seemed to be going smoothly... then everything disappeared, and I was left with a black screen for three hours. Finally in frustration I powered off and on again; The blue windows 10 logo appeared, and the loading wheel span for a few seconds, followed by the black screen again - no cursor or anything. I can't enter safe mode, either - it makes a really violent buzzing sound whenever I hit F8. I'm worried my laptop is irreparably damaged... I'm upgrading from Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron laptop (or trying to).
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded to window 10 from window 7 with iso file. I didn't had internet access then, but my window run successfully. Later, when i tried to attach another display with Laptop it did not detect it. So, i installed the windows updates. But after installing i was unable to boot into windows. A black screen with blinking cursor appears right after the Dell Logo. I am only able to go into bios setup by pressing F2, no safe mode option. I tried making a bootable Pen drive for repair but even it wasn't detected. I already change the boot priority in bios menu. Therefore i am unable to fresh install the window as laptop cd drive is not functioning from quite some time.
View 3 RepliesI upgraded a desktop computer from Windows 7 ultimate to Windows 10 and there seems to be an annoying black screen issue which happens before the login screen.
After the Windows loading logo, the screen stays black for about 60-80 seconds (and all I can see is the mouse cursor). After 60-80 seconds, the login screen pops up and everything works fine and I can login.
I already tried the following:
- Updated NVIDIA drivers
- Completely removed NVIDIA drivers to see if it was a drivers problem
- Booted into safe mode, still happens
- Checked event viewer, nothing weird in the logs
- Made the PCIE slot the default slot for the primary monitor in the BIOS
- Ran the sfc /scannow command, no violations found
- Ran all Windows updates
- Took a look at the services and startup processes, nothing weird here
- Turned fast boot off/on, no change
- Full Malwarebytes scan, no infections found
I ran a xbootmgr trace log, here's the summary XML file: processSummary numProces - Pastebin.com
I'd like to keep the fresh installation option as a last resort.
i upgraded my windows from 8.1 to 10.evrything seems fine but when i launch my games it won't run.i run dxdiag then i noticed that my intel vga and nvidia 840M's driver were uninstalled. I open the ASUS installer and installed my display driver.when i reboot, the screen goes black with the mouse cursor in it after ASUS logo.3 leds were lit.the hdd led is blinking. i reboot several times and hit F8, unfortunately nothing happened.
View 1 RepliesMy PC was working fine until today. Now when I boot up the lights on my razor keyboard illuminate but when it gets past the bios the lights turn off.
When the login screen for w10 comes up I can't login because both the keyboard and mouse are not responding.
They work fine in the bios. I am using a custom built PC (a88x-gamer MOBO) and a corsair m65 mouse with a razer black window 2015 keyboard and running Windows 10.
So my computer started running a bit slower then it should be, at the point where my computer to open would take half a min, so i did fresh install. So i left installation overnight, i wake up in the morning and it say "Hi there" installation menu where you choose Country, language, keyboard layout and timezone, but it's totally froze, i can not see mouse cursor or use my keyboard, if my monitor goes to sleep i can't turn it on back. I did read that it's problem with drivers not installed. I've tried restarting pc few times. Is it true that problem is with drivers not installed correctly or at all?
View 1 Repliesturned my computer on yesterday and it loaded up fine, apart from there was no cursor and my keyboard wouldn't work. I have a R.A.T. 5 mouse and a Coolermaster QuickFire keyboard. I know that they're on and working because their LED's are on. I decided to plug in my old ps2 keyboard and restart my PC to enter BIOS. I checked and it recognises that the keyboard and the mouse are connected into the USB hub and says they're working. Another thing, even my ps2 keyboard doesn't work when my computer gets past the start screen!

Also sometimes my computer will just freeze, mouse cursor and keyboard not working and I have to hard boot. Also some times when it freezes, a stutter/buzzing noise is head through my headphones. View 3 RepliesI did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.
I was using Windows 7 for about 2 years until I stumbled upon Windows 10 last month.I upgraded to it and used it happily for 2 weeks,give or take.Then the problems occur.
One day,after loading to BIOS,it booted to a black screen.No login screen,no cursor,nothing.I tried using the Windows troubleshooting utility and I've exhausted every option besides the wipe all your data option.
I tried booting with cmd, but it didn't do anything.Resetting PC with files intact also did nothing.Startup repair was the same case.System restore did not let me roll back due to some technicality.
In the meantime,I've tried installing Windows 10 on my other HDD,only to face the same issue after I rebooted.The Windows Media USB also did not work.
I'm really out of options here as I need to get some of my files out from my Caviar Black before I reformat it if I have to.
EDIT:For context,I sold my SSD and got a Caviar Blue 1tb.
I currently have a Windows 10 laptop that was working without issues for a while, however after a restart the laptop appears to load windows but never get to the login screen, only show a blank screen with only a mouse icon visible.
I have tried various Windows supplied options with the following outputs:
1. Boot into safe mode (with and without network) - this again only loads to a blank screen with only mouse icon visible
2. Window reset - appears to get stuck on 8% - only to show an error saying reset could not happen, reverting changes (option to reset with files saved was chosen - as current files are required)
3. Start Up Repair - issue not resolved
4. System Restore and System Image Recovery - N/A as Windows cannot find previous image or restore point
5. Booted in Low-Resolution video - again same
I cant find a fix to my computer with my Nvidia graphics card here's what happened.
- Windows 8.1 update to windows 10 happens.
- Successful upgrade so i start up games to see changes into fps.
- Graphics card is not working so i uninstall them and try to reinstalled them again but to no avail ( should have restarted my PC i know).
- Get message to start restart on safe mode and so i do so.
- Suddenly I receive a black screen to which after many attempts to fix it via online including the installation media flash drive and the start+P key bind whatever thing.
I am not able to play my games, talk to my family and study for my ISU for my school which i need now because the work is inside! I need to fix this but am running out of options.
Also i wouldn't say am bad with computers I do know how to get to control panel, run commands on cmd, etc. But some detailed course of action explaining what do would useful.
Any link on how to downgrade to windows 8.1 or even 7 would be useful but not necessary, don't want my computer updating something I don't know.
I tried to upgrade to windows 10 from 8.1 and i tried 3 times and all I get is BLACK SCREEN after logging in task manager won't work, so i cant check is the explorer.exe isn't working or what. Also the same thing on safe mode black screen with cursor and nothing else.

View 1 RepliesEarlier on my Win 10 computer I did a command prompt, sfc scannow. So I waited for the scan which fixed a problem/corrupt file.
Afterwards it said computer needed restarting so I did just that, but after the windows logo the screen just stays black with the cursor showing.
Ctrl alt del to bring up task manager etc does nothing at all. Tried simply restarting pc again but it's the same every time.
Solved - On a different computer I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file and burned on to a blank DVD.
I got into the BIOS to change the boot order to CD/DVD first, then inserted the dvd. (you DO get the option to keep or delete your files) The Repair option didn't work, but using a Restore Point did. My files-documents, pictures etc WERE kept.
I've been having some issues to get Windows 10 installed. I've got an ASUS ROG G20AJ desktop computer running an i7 processor and a GTX 760 graphics card. I got my Windows 10 update and everything went fine, and the installation process began. The problem is, when it gets to the 32 % of"Installating drivers and features", the screen goes black and I can only see the cursor. The installation process won't complete and it's been like 8 hours now. What should I do??
View 2 RepliesMy Windows 10 was running perfectly well for one full week. Then this morning I noticed it installed some update and after reboot the screen went black and the cursor appeared.
I tried every thing but nothing worked. I cannot even access the troubleshooting, bios, repair, etc... Nothing.
After it reboots I noticed that if I type my password blindly the HDD LED starts to blink wildly as in loading my start up programs etc....
But nothing else happens when I try Ctrl-alt-del or win-r and type explorer.exe or whatever I can think of.
Installed the 'Windows 10 Login Screen Changer' that I found on this forum, clicked 'change background' and bam...black screen. I turned the computer off and on again and still black screen with a Cursor.Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. My keyboard still lights up, and pressing Windows + P brings up the project menu but doesn't solve the issue. Forgot to mention I'm running the newest build of Windows 10 and have been for several weeks without any problems.
View 1 RepliesThis has been happening ever since I upgraded to 10 about 2 weeks ago. I start the computer, 3 second ASUS logo, then windows 10 logo comes up and it loads for about 10-20 seconds, then I get a black screen with a cursor for 30-60 seconds, followed by another loading screen and finally the login screen. About the same boot time I had on 7 except for the long black screen. I can move the cursor around during the black screen, and it sometimes has the blue loading circle next to it. I've tried disabling fast startup and my video drivers are up to date.
Device manager doesn't show more than one display adapter, but it does show 4 monitors if I show hidden devices. My BenQ monitor in DVI-D and Generic PnP monitor, which is my TV plugged into the DVI-I port on my 770, and then a hidden copy of each of those. I usually have the TV off with display on my BenQ, but windows seems to think the BenQ is the second monitor, calling the TV the PC screen when I check windows key + P. I don't know if that's relevant or not, but it caused a problem during my win10 install (windows switched to the TV display mid-install.) I tried switching the display ports while booting up but I still had the black screen.
I installed Windows 10 yesterday and I had kept my laptop on power and I went away for a bit and when I came back a couple of hours later, my laptop's screen was black but the lights on the laptop blinked so as to show that it had just restarted. So I waited for it to start, however the screen is black and there's absolutely nothing happening.
I googled the problem and found that people could see a cursor or a pointer on their screen but it's not coming for me. Also, my laptop is a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 14z. I need to access my computer, I have to travel in a week. Also, I was updating from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, and I don't have any CD for Windows 8 as it came pre-installed with it, with the shopkeeper telling me that Windows 8 comes installed in the BIOS so there's no CD. Anyway, I really need to access my laptop asap? I have got absolutely no clue as to what I should do.

Specs = 4gb Ram Intel i5 4210U.
Problem = When I boot up my pc after logging in and entering my password , i get a black screen with only my cursor. After 30-60s the screen flickers and everything becomes normal and works fine.
I recently tried to reset Windows 10, but it wouldn't let me. So I started up my pc after and now it's just a black screen. Before all this I was trying to fix my nvidia drivers, and someone recommended me to reset Windows and now Windows won't even start.
