Jan 17, 2016I have had persistent problems recently with my computer freezing/crashing. This is an HP Pavilion, model 500-123a, running Windows 10 (recently upgraded from Windows 8). What's been happening is that it's been stalling out, both in Word (without broadband on) and on the Web (eg Yahoo, Yahoo Mail). In Word the cursor freezes and will not move, the screen goes opaque white, the blue circle whirls, can't do anything with it, can't shut down, and I have to unplug it and reboot.
This can happen 3 or 4 times a day. In Yahoo, similarly, the screen freezes, the cursor won't move at all, and have to unplug. I used software, PC Health Advisor, to try to diagnose the problem, and it hasn't signalled up anything specifically. From checks I've done, it doesn't look like fragmentation, nor RAM (8GB), nor registry issues, nor a monitor problem.

Jan 19, 2016I have an HP Pavilion 500-123a PC running Windows 10 which has been freezing and crashing frequently.I have attempted several diagnostic and fix options about which I have posted to this forum before, though the difficulty thus far is unresolved.In particular sfc/scannow does not complete; halts at 56% with the message Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
I also attempted a Repair Install using the Media Creation Tool iso file. This was initiated in the administrator account (PC has two accounts) and got to 97% when it failed with the error message We couldnt install Windows 10, The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation error code 0x8007002C-0x4001E.The diagnostic software PC Health Advisor only came up with 2 registry issues, without specifying further.The Dism tool was OK however reporting.The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully.Given that the PC is still freezing/crashing at this stage I am perplexed regarding how to arrive at a diagnosis and fix and, again,

Nov 11, 2015My computer has always crashed frequently since I built it a few months ago. I finally did a clean Windows 10 install to see if that would sort it out but it didn't. It appears random. It crashes during resource intensive games, not resource intensive games, browsing, watching a video, or even just idling once every 2 to 6 hours of use. BSOD point their fingers at the RAM (which has tested fine), my graphics driver (the latest), and other things I'm not sure about.

Jul 31, 2015so 2 days ago was the scheduled day for the windows 10 free upgrade. I was on vacation and didn't get to my laptop that day. So I come back the next day and my windows 8.1 computer keeps freezing and freezing and FREEZING . I then decide to reset it to factory settings and I don't see the free upgrade button next to my date in time so I think maybe I have to update to windows 8.1 sense when I reset it it reset to windows 8.0 . so I spend a whole day updating to windows 8.1 . Now its day 2 and I still cant see the free upgrade button...

Aug 5, 2015I've been trying to fix this for a while, but I have had no luck. My sister for her birthday got a new laptop (Dell Latitude E6420 Intel i5 2540m at 2.6 ghz). I did the free Windows 10 upgrade for her, and when the computer is starting from a shut down, it goes to a black screen with the mouse, and the mouse is frozen. There is nothing I can do but hold down the power button to shut it down.

Aug 26, 2015Just to preface this I have not received a BSOD when this happens so I hope I'm still posting this in the correct location. However my laptop just freezes completely and I have to do a hard shutdown (holding the power button until it shuts off) whenever I wake my laptop up from sleeping or even when I cold boot it.
I have checked Event Viewer and I see that I have a couple of recurring errors, the first being:
"DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service lfsvc with arguments "Unavailable" in order to run the server:
{08D9DFDF-C6F7-404A-A20F-66EEC0A609CD}"
Wit the second being:
"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start."
However I am able to boot into safe mode just fine, even safe mode with networking and everything behaves normally. I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on ...
I forgot to add that I did the upgrade from Windows 7 originally and had the problem so I figured it might have been an issue with the upgrade itself causing some kind of problem so I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on it and the issue still existed afterwards as well.
Computer Keeps On Freezing Or Restarting When Playing Games
Aug 12, 2015Ever since I installed Windows 10 on release, I have been having problems with my games. Before it was just games like Counter-Strike 1.6, Half-Life 1, Half-Life 2 / EP1 / EP2, Left 4 Dead or Garry's Mod that froze my computer or sometimes it would just say "AMD driver has stopped working and successfully recovered". Last night it happened when I was playing Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing and I was just trying to finish a race when the screen turns black and brings up a message saying "Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing has stopped working". This has never happened to me before and I thought it had something to do with plugging my Xbox One controller in when Windows already started up when usually I just leave it plugged in before turning on my computer. I launched the game again and had Spotify playing music at the same time. I needed to check something on the internet and I pressed the Windows key and opened Google Chrome then everything stops and the music just freezes and has a constant stuttering sound. I think it could of been that the graphics card stopped working but it didn't recover.

Random Computer Freezing - Need To Hard Restart / No BSOD
Feb 10, 2016Two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers.The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.
I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.
I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen.

Dec 7, 2015For a while now, I have had problems with Windows 10 every now and then where all of a sudden my computer will freeze for seemingly no reason.
Previously I posted this forum thinking it was my NVIDIA divers (because I didn't actually need them). BUT, today my computer froze again, and I have noticed something odd but common with all the times it has frozen. Allow me to explain:
I was on Facebook today searching through as you do, and my small (not smart) phone started ringing. As always, my acer speakers pick up this signal for some reason and start buzzing. I turn my speakers off and answer my phone, walking away from the computer. After about 5 mins, I come back to find my computer frozen.
This interaction with speakers seems to be common in the freezing of my computer. I can recall other times answering a call and coming back to find my computer frozen. Also, if I am watching a youtube video, and my computer freezes whilst the speakers are on, the speakers will make a loud noise (this hasn't happened so recently, can't quite remember noise to describe).
This MIGHT be the cause, however, this is still unknown, if even linked! This sound problem may even be linked with my previous NVIDIA problems (which I thought were causing this freezing) as on previous thread.
Computer Has Been Crashing After Login
Nov 13, 2015I updated to windows 10 around a month ago. Recently, the computer has been crashing after I log in. I've had this problem twice before, and the problem was fixed by going into the settings and updating the computer. This time, however, it is not giving me time to update. Once the computer crashes, i can only move my mouse. On previous occasions, I managed to get a video up and it would freeze, then continue to play the last 10 seconds of audio on repeat.
The computer comes up with a script error. It appears to related to microsoft one drive though, and it doesn't show up if i unplug my router. Anyways, here's the link it comes up with: [URL] ....
If I wait long enough, it comes up with the alert that tells you that a program has crashed. Except this one is tell that microsoft windows has crashed. It then asks me if I want to end the process. I can't actually press either button since nothing works, but I thought I might mention it.
Computer Crashing Randomly
Dec 29, 2015This is a brand new computer, everything newly installed. My computer has recently been crashing. It happened 3 times in 3 days. The crash happens randomly and when it does it bluescreens with an error i can't remember but it says something like 'your computer crashed, please wait for us to gather data ;(' and then it counts up to 100%.

Feb 9, 2016I recently built a computer about two weeks ago. Everything had been great up until today. These are the following error messages that occur about 10 seconds after seeing the windows 10 desktop and all the way until the starting of windows.

Dpc watchdog violation
Kmode exception... (I couldn't get the rest)
I have about 10 seconds of desktop before a error message or a freeze. I've tried safe mode and it locks up, ive tried trying to repair windows from the boot disk and it loads forever or locks up. Maybe the two week old hardrive has failed?

This happened with both Utorrent and Deluge. Nothing else elicits this reaction. I didn't know Event Viewer was a thing until I started to look this up so I hope these are the relevant dump files.

Computer Freezing - Processor 100% Network Adapter Turned Off / Occasional WHEA Blue Screens
Oct 16, 2015My laptop, an Acer, has been freezing multiple times a day recently. Sometimes I get a blue screen eventually that tells me there's been a WHEA error, sometimes none of that. Yesterday, I kept staring at the screen for a while instead of restarting, and eventually it recovered. I could see the processor activity climb to 100%, and that interrupts claimed up to 14% of the activity. Afterwards, the network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros AR956x) was turned off, apparently because of a 'code 12' - 'insufficient available resources'.
That problem was only resolved after a restart. When I shut the computer down, I got a screen telling the computer was being 'prepared' for a long time - sometimes I also see a blue screen showing the installation of updates at start-up, even if none were waiting to be installed. The drivers for the network adapter are up to date, version 10.0.0.318 (apparently dating from May 2015). I'm quite sure this is a software issue - 'chkdsk' doesn't find any problems, nor does 'sfc /scannow'. And a friend of mine with an Apple laptop running Windows 10 (we've never exchanged USB sticks or anything) has exactly the same problem since installing Windows 10 (different network adapter however, and seems to have improved recently).

Feb 10, 2016My computer is crashing every time I turn on my computer. It crashes after around 15 minute. After it crashes once, it crashes right away right before or after the welcome screen. Before it crashes, my screen fuzzes, sometimes it doesn't. I tried a lot of things by deleting my graphics driver completely using ddu program or something like that and reinstall only the display driver.

Computer Crashing While Idling Or Playing Music
Nov 3, 2015It used to only freeze once every few months, but now it seems that it mostly happens when it idles, or when i'm just playing spotify and not doing much. It rarely happens while I game, more when i'm not actually moving the mouse or anything. I have my settings set to never hibernate though, to eliminate that option. When I check my event log, this is my error.
I tried to run a reset of those net.tcp settings in my command line, but the results came up saying I had no user information for such settings. The freeze happens every 20 minutes or so when not pressing anything, or when just sitting watching videos on youtube or listening to spotify.
Graphic Cards :: Display Driver Keeps Crashing The Computer
Aug 16, 2015My display driver kept Crashing my Computer, so I updated it with the latest driver for Windows 10.
Now I keep getting a message to say that 'Scene Selection Has Changed' which annoyingly keeps on popping up on the Screen at regular intervals. (How can I stop this before it drives me Crazy!) too late it already has!
Then I get another 'Pop Up' which says 'Display Driver Stopped Responding but has now recovered' and is something else that I don't need to know (or maybe I do?)
If that message pops up a couple of times, it Crashes the Computer which then re-boots itself (sometimes!) or else gives me a 'Black Screen'
My Nvidea Graphics Card is virtually brand new and always worked faultlessly with XP and Windows 7.
Could it be the Updates we keep getting or something else?
BSOD :: Computer Is Constantly Crashing And Restarting - System Thread Exception Not Handled

How do I fix this and get my computer back? I don't even know how to get into safe mode.
