Feb 10, 2016This is pretty straightforward: I cannot access the settings for the start menu. When I do a right click on the task bar and then click on "properties", I should have a "Start menu" tab in the window. The problem is : I don't have that tab.
Also, I don't have the possibility to pin apps to the start menu, this is a bit annoying.

Sep 22, 2015I recently upgraded to Win 10 on my laptop but it's completely broken. I boot up and sign in ok but then I just get a black screen with a cursor. The only way I can access anything is through the task manager > run new task. I've tried everything but nothing works so I want to rollback to Win 7.
But the problem is that in order to do so I need to access settings which I'm unable to. I can click the link under user controls in control panel but nothing happens. I tried a fix (Settings doesnt launch, or launches the Store instead - Microsoft Community) but it didn't work. There doesn't seem to be any way of accessing it and hence no way of rolling back.

Jan 22, 2016After a recent update I'm locked in to the Task Bar menu and cannot access the windows 10 live icon menu. Can't access the apps and Cortana doesn't work. He presses it via the start>settings but it just flashes up then goes off.

Feb 23, 2016So Im trying to install a new graphics card, and I have to tweak some settings in the bios. Unfortunately, when I try to open it(pressing escape at startup, scrolling down, and selecting uefi settings and pressing enter) nothing happens. I looked this up, and it said to go to advanced startup and go through some steps to get to a menu that supposedly contains "uefi firmware settings". Now, I confirmed that this is the right menu, but the option is just not there. I thought about updating my BIOS, but there are no updates for it available.

I tried the command-line suggested and right after I hit enter, I get a flash of a window popping up on my screen and then it's gone. It's so quick I can't see what it's trying to open.

You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" however, I have administrator access on my computer. This was working before I upgraded to windows 10 (I was on windows 7)

Can't Access BIOS Menu In First Try
Aug 21, 2015I've this issue since I did clean install of Windows 10. It simply don't let me in BIOS menu on tapping the DEL key now and simply continue booting Windows 10. And I could only access BIOS menu when I restart it. And if I again turn it off and then start it then again it simply boot and start Windows 10.
And another weird thing is- if I start my PC when it is off than it boot up too fast, without any issue but if I restart it than it takes more time and the monitor turn off and then on again, you may read more about it here.
PS- Maybe you don't need to know this but I did clean install via pendrive which I made using Refus using the bootable ISO.
Start Menu Folder Access
Apr 10, 2015Any way to allow folder access through the start menu in Windows 10? By folder access, I mean like in Windows 7 you could open the start menu, then start typing C: and it would display the contents of the folder, or just type the folder path and hit enter to open it. I can't seem to do that now, and I'm not sure if I'm doing it incorrectly, it needs to be configured, or just isn't there.

I would like to remove some of the folders and programs from the "All Apps" list but I can't seem to find a way to do it. It is filling up with uninstall files inside of folders for programs that have been uninstalled along with some programs I would prefer not be shown. (Nothing bad, just nothing I would ever need to click on nor need to see). I also need to modify which programs start with windows. This was so much easier in windows 7, and I skipped windows 8 so I am not sure what to do.

Jul 29, 2015I too have taken the plunge and upgraded two of my systems (my personal laptop and my work desktop) to Windows 10 and working on a third (HP Stream 8 tablet). I am having an issue on my laptop where the Settings menu does not load. I wanted to go in and change some of the personalization settings and tinker with a few others but when I did, the window flashed for a brief second and then gave me and error that reads as follows:
"ms-settings:notifications - This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Again this is just to open the Settings menu. I did not receive the same message on my work computer. Mind you, the laptop is from 2010 and came with Windows 7 and I've been able to successfully upgrade each time, including today (albeit very slowly).

Networking :: Start Menu Try To Access Internet Via Proxy?
Mar 5, 2016Almost every time I open the start menu, I get the proxy authentication popup, despite ticking the box save the details. There are also a whole bunch of potential proxy servers which can be connected to (I'm at university), and it randomly selects which one to connect to (as this would be the default for "automatically detect settings" in Internet Options.
Cortana isn't available in my country, and I've changed the search menu to not use bing to find results. I have no internet-accessing apps pinned to start. Why is it constantly trying to access the internet? Why won't it save my details after the first login despite it trying to access the same proxy? Maybe too many proxy requests lined up after each other?

Sep 12, 2015I'm unable to access the start menu, cortana, or even my calendar. Can't even do it in safe mode.The thing is though, this is only on my main account (which happens to be a microsoft connected account), I have no issue accessing them with the other two (local) accounts on my computer. I've uninstalled any software or updates that I had installed prior to this issue appearing and ran a virus scan but the problem still persists. I'm not quite sure what to do at this point because this is such a weird issue.
