After I upgraded to Windows 10, my system won't go to sleep automatically. The display will turn off after the idle time I've set but the computer remains on. I've tested with setting it to sleep after being idle for 1 minute, and only the display turns off. If I manually go to Power -> Sleep in the Start Menu, it will go to sleep.

View 4 RepliesIt is fitting that I should start this discussion on the new Win10 site. With the latest update to 9926, I finally got the sleep menu to show up (updating the graphics driver) but the computer will not automatically go to sleep at the appropriate time. The other versions worked. I doubt this will last as I expect more updates to fix this but so far, the usual suspects have been tried and it is non functioning.
The sleep button and the power button set to sleep work fine. So far, nothing has woken it up but I have a sneaky suspicion that Homegroup now wakes up the computer when another machine asks for its shared folders.
I set my computer to sleep after 25 minutes, and it worked until the day before yesterday. Since then it just doesn't go sleep automatically but I can put it into sleep mode manually. I guess I might installed something that doesn't let it sleep. But I only installed Origin in the last days, and it's not even running.

When put in sleep mode, my computer automatically wakes up at a set time.
I have disabled wake timers in the power menu, I have clicked of "allow [this device] to wake up the computer" on every applicable device (mouse, keyboard, HID-compliant device, NIC...)

My computer won't go into sleep mode automatically. Even when I manually set it to sleep, it will be awake again within 10 minutes or so. I've gone into the advanced power options to make sure that nothing is interrupting it while sleeping and set it so nothing could wake it up. I've checked in the device manager to make sure none of my devices are waking it up.
After it wakes up I'll go into the command prompt and use the "powercfg -lastwake" to see what could be causing it and nothing shows up. There are even times when the computer will turn itself on from being completely turned off.

View 9 RepliesI hear the computer turn back on and the light is on, but the screen is still black. My mouse and keyboard are unresponsive (can't turn backlight on). I have to do a hard shut down. When it's back on, it's like it woke up from sleep mode, not a fresh restart.
This just started happening today I think so I did a system restore, but the problem persists. The only thing I remember doing today was updating my ATI drivers.
My computer will go to sleep after 30 minutes, as scheduled, but only if I have not signed in to my user account. Once I sign in, it will not automatically sleep, and the monitor will not dim.
What processes are likely to be interfering with sleep? I can put it into sleep manually, and it will stay asleep. but it won't do so automatically, if I am signed in.
My laptop, running Windows Ten from a clean install, has issues with the sleep function. About once a day, when I either put the computer to sleep or when it does it on its own, the screen will go black but the computer will not stop running. All the lights are on, the fan and disks keep running. Nothing works to turn the screen back on and my only option becomes to force a shut down.
I've tried tweaking all the power options in various ways, I've tried disabling/enabling hibernation/fast start and I've searched for an answer but I do not have one.
After upgrading to Windows 10, my PC will not go to sleep automatically nor will the displays turn off after the specified time (10 minutes). If I put it to sleep manually from the Start menu, it will go to sleep and usually stays that way until manually woken up. I had no issues with my PC going to sleep in Windows 7.

i am having a strange issue with my windows 10 pro version, It was working fine until the 3rd cumulative update. Now my lap never goes to sleep. When i sleep the laptop it goes to sleep and then automatically wake after 30 to 40 sec, and sometimes even 4 to 5 minutes. I have troubleshooted the power option, removed all the scheduled events but nothing works. On searching the command prompt with powercfg lastwake command it shows The POWER BUTTON.
View 2 RepliesSo, just like the title says, my PC keeps waking after I put it to sleep mode. It probably takes around 10-15 minutes of being in sleep before it wakes up. The reason I'm posting this question is because I have looked up solutions for this and they don't appear to be working.
I've checked my device manager; only my keyboard and mouse are enabled to wake my PC. I ran, powercfg -devicequery wake_armed, in my command prompt to make sure that only my keyboard and mouse are the only devices.
I disabled wake timers in the power options and ran, powercfg -waketimers, to see if there's waketimers. There aren't any.
I also ran, powercfg -lastwake, after my computer woke up automatically. I didn't take a picture of it but it said ther was a wake history count of 1 but it didn't state what was the source of it waking. I thought that was strange so I put it to sleep then woke it up with my mouse. Checked again with that command prompt and this time it specified the source which was my mouse obviously.
OS: Windows 10
This happening right after i instal 10 on my laptop. Its about 5-10 mins after my laptop sleep then its shut down automatically.. And i believe there is nothing problem with power & sleep settings.
View 1 RepliesI had upgraded to win 10 about two months ago. for the last two days my c drive is getting filled up automatically. It is in excess of 90 gb and yet yesterday It was full. I tried to check on dosv files etc but to no avail. I then decompressed all files using the option under properties on right clicking the c drive and got 25 gb free this morning. I am watching uselessly as it has already reduced to 19 gb and is reducing fast with no activity and no internet down load etc from my side.

View 4 RepliesWindows 10 kept wanting to restart after it has been shutdown. The computer would have its power indicator turned off for maybe 2 seconds, then you hear the fan whirling and the BIOS screen appears followed by the usual boot process.
I don't know how this would work, but my problem was solved by turning off in my BIOS setup 'Legacy USB Support'. Now if I shutdown Windows 10, it would really shut itself down. No problem so far after maybe 10 or so instances.
I just bought a MSI GE62 Apache Pro. I have to install windows on FreeDos. When I look into BIOS menu, boot mode is shown as Legacy. In legacy mode, i can open the 'select boot device' menu but installation could not be done.
So as the user manual suggest, I selected the mode 'UEFI'. However, when i select it and restart my computer, 'select boot device' menu would not appear even if i press the hotkey, instead computer goes into bios menu automatically. I have a MSI CD which is called User Manual Utilities Driver and it has Windows in it.

Since I installed windows 10 sometimes my computer just automatically reboots, no warning, no notifications, after it reboots it goes back to working fine but I have checked everything I can think of and can not find out why it is doing this, and it is very aggravating if I am online playing games
View 3 RepliesSo, recently I left my computer on overnight to download something, I did this multiple times before with windows 7, and everything went smooth. This time I woke up and my computer was turned off, but I live alone, so nobody could have turned it off. I turned it on again to finish the download and went on doing something else. After that, my computer turned off again. I already went into the settings and sleep is not on, and the screen also doesn't turn off. I also went into advanced settings, and I still can't find anything to be causing it.

Windows 10 is also set to normally schedule reboots for when you are away from the computer. Is there a tool available to stop Windows Update from automatically rebooting your computer?
View 2 RepliesYesterday (12/7/15) I got on steam to play some games with a friend and about 5 seconds into starting CS:GO my computer screen turns black, and it restarts, with no error/crash message.
Earlier today I got fed up with this so I decided to wipe my computer and do a clean install of Win.10 but the problem still persists. I mean the computer runs really quickly now, but the second I play any game, or compress anything it crashes, and restarts.
How can I stop/fix this issue?
So I've and tried some more and I cannot seem to get my PC to Sleep. I was upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Ultimate. It's a custom built rig for gaming and streaming movies. Not sure why, but I put it on sleep, I see the PC go down as if it's in sleep mode and then I leave the room. I go by the room again and the PC is back on.

View 2 RepliesI've tried everything I've read but nothing will make my PC sleep. It worked fine with Windows 8.1 but since 10 it doesn't matter what I change, the only way to make the PC sleep is to do it manually.
Here are some of the steps I've followed with no success:
- powercfg /requests shows nothing
- powercfg /energy doesn't show anything interesting
- no media sharing is enabled
- homegroup is disabled
- disabling NIC has no effect
- removing everything from the PC other than power and HDMI for video has no effect
- everything but my mouse is set not to wake pc (I have also tried with the mouse also set to no avail)
- updated drivers where possible
The weird thing is if I don't log onto the PC from a reboot, it will sleep just fine - the minute I log on it refuses to auto sleep. Also, if I boot into Safe Mode, the sleep works just fine again.
It's combined with the auto setting for windows update (despite having disable wake timers selected) the PC will sometimes wake in the middle of the night and stay on until I sleep it again.
