Jan 15, 2016After almost every update, if I run sfc it reports corrupt files. Sometimes it cures them, sometimes I have to run dism, and this time neither work.

I think that it may be somehow related to a few errors happening on my laptop--such as live tiles not working, and the inability to use some apps without crashes.

Nov 15, 2015can some of you do an sfc /scannow and check your results with the November update installed? I always do this when i finish installations, and on 3 computers and 4 installations on them, 2 on one computer just to be sure i am getting corrupt files and struggling with my anger to not go back to windows 7 and get rid of all win 10 problems and MS ignorance. here is my results, many corrupted files in the log.. but is long so i don't post it...

Aug 26, 2015Recently updated to windows 10 I've tried a scannow to resolve another issue and I get a failure message with files being corrupted. I've tried a reset keeping my files but where to look next. Attached is my log file from the SFC and the DISM log really stuck currently.

Updates :: Clean Install After Corrupt Upgrade
Jan 9, 2016I have a laptop that was originally on Windows 8.1. I upgraded it to Windows 10 recently, however there were a variety of deeply embedded issues. I tried every troubleshooting method I could find, tried to revert back to 8.1, and tried to repair and reset Windows 10. Nothing was working, so I had to use installation media from doing a clean install on my PC to install a fresh version of Windows 10 on my laptop.
I was forced to format the hard drive, and delete all the partitions to even get the clean install to work (the upgrade did a real number on my initial system), and because of this I'm now unable to activate Windows 10. The upgrade was the Home edition, and I clean installed the Home N edition (as far as I'm aware there's little to no difference). I made a note of the product key that was listed in the upgraded 10 before the clean install, which I assume was my product key from 8.1 that carried over, as it is 20 characters long and not 25.
Is there any way I can activate my clean installed Windows 10 Home N in this situation?
Updates :: Service Registration Is Missing Or Corrupt
Jan 15, 2016Before I updated to Windows 10, I must have damaged some files whilst trying to turn off Windows 10 notifications in Windows 7. I couldn't do any updates in Windows 7 either.
There is no error code. Windows update troubleshooter says: "Service registration is missing or corrupt."
I ran sfc/ scannow, it said it found corrupt files but was unable to fix it. The CBS log is attached. CBS.rar
Corrupt Files After Scan
Oct 25, 2015Earlier today while playing Dying Light, my PC randomly blue-screened with the error "page fault in nonpaged area cpuz136_x64.sys" - After running a malware scan, nothing was found. After that I cleaned my registry with CCleaner. I haven't played Dying Light since then, but a few minutes ago I decided to run sfc /scannow - and It came up with a few files that were corrupt.

Corrupt Files Found By SFC Cannot Be Repaired
Nov 1, 2015I have run SFC /SCANNOW and a large number of files have been found to be corrupted in Windows 10, and cannot be repaired by SFC. The CBS log is too large to attach, but I have extracted a list of all corrupt files attached.
After looking at similar posts, I downloaded SFCFIX.exe by Sysnative and ran that in an elevated command prompt, but the message I got was that source file could not be found. I have also run SFC in safe mode and also run DISM, but neither solves my problem, and the corrupt files persist.

Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.

Aug 19, 2015I've received 5 files from 5 sources, both Excel and Word. Every time I try to open one I get an error message "File is corrupt and can't be opened." I can work on my own files, but not downloads.
I tried the Windows 10 "workarounds" but these didn't work. I've tried to download using both Firefox and Edge, no difference.
SFC And DISM Error When Trying To Fix Corrupt Windows Files
Aug 3, 2015I ran "SFC /scannow" and got an error saying the System File Checker found errors but couldn't fix them. Afterwards I ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" and DISM threw the error 0x800f081f saying that the source files could not be found.
I then ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:H:Sourcesinstall.wim" to direct DISM to my windows 10 disk, but this also didn't work.
I don't know what to do short of reinstalling Windows, I've attached my CBS and DISM logs in a .zip file below (the CBS log was too big).
Start Menu Opening Along With Corrupt Files
Dec 19, 2015As the title says, the start menu wasn't opening so I ran SFC /scannow that found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I then ran RestoreHealth but I got a message saying, "Source file cannot be found". I restart, Start Menu works again but still have corrupt files after an SFC scan. I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 after some non-related issues. CBS log is attached. I'm having trouble determining the problem from the log file.

Jan 9, 2016I keep getting blue screens randomly with different messages, including KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR, CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED, and more. It doesn't seem to be associated with any particular app or thing that I do. This morning, I woke up to find that is BSODed in the middle of the night for apparently no reason.
I have tried SFC /SCANNOW (corrupt files can't be fixed), DISM restore_health, reinstalling Windows, check disk... You name it.

PC Unable To Start Due To Corrupt Windows Files - Unable To Reformat HDD
Dec 22, 2015Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.

Dec 9, 2015I am on 64 bit Windows 10 Pro 10586.29. Before the last 2 updates, my system, with a 512GB SSD would shut down in 4 to 5 seconds. Since the last 2 updates, it has gone from a very fast 5 seconds to about 15 to 20 seconds.

Just the Windows Update Cleanup part is slow - took about 20-25 minutes to get through it today.
Never used to be like that and I'm pretty sure it's something recent. I've done a few clean installs of Threshold 2 since November and it wasn't slow like that until the past week or so (I've done 2 clean installs over the past week and they've both been slow with Windows Update Cleanup).
As I recall. Windows 8 had the same 'bug' and it now seems to have crept into Windows 10 (at least for me).
Updates :: Windows Update Overwrites New Files With Old Ones
Feb 10, 2016So I installed windows 10 earlier this week, I believe the 7th of February. The system moves all my files into windows.old. I retrieve my vital files (mostly current projects and some game files) and marvel at how much faster my computer seems to run.
Then about 30 minutes ago an automatic windows update triggered when I restarted my computer. When my computer was rebooted, all the files from windows.old had returned and overwritten my progress since the 7th.
Everything, from old favorites I had thought gone, to my old desktop background, had returned. Worse still, the files I had moved from Windows.old onto the new desktop had disappeared, AND now my laptop is running slower, similar to when I was using 8.1. It's almost as if the computer had performed a rollback, except I'm still running windows 10.
Any way to roll back the last update without returning to Windows 8.1?

Oct 11, 2015In Windows in the past you could go to the windows update download site to find the updates. It doesn't seem to work for Windows 10 cumulative updates. Is there a way to find these updates? I have even tried googling the kb numbers and it only gives details but not the file to download. I wanted to test the Wicd tool ability to add in updates to the media.

Nov 30, 2015I updated to Windows 10 earlier today. I thought I had lost some important work files and some pics of my kiddo from the last 3 months. Found them by looking in the network folder. Copied them to the desktop to remind myself to send a copy to my external hard drive when I got home. Laptop restarted and when it came back on the files were gone. I could search for them and find them but they wouldn't open. In desperation I restored back to Windows 8 in the hopes that they would be found but they are nowhere to be seen. Don't even show up in a search. System restore shows no prior restoration points.
I have about 70 hours worth of work done that needs done by the end of the calendar year, work that I will have to make up on my own time and not get paid for if I can't find these files. I also have the last 3 months worth of pictures of my daughter on there, her birthday trip to the zoo, visit with my sister, things I want to put in her scrapbook.

Dec 26, 2015My Inspirio 14 laptop currently has 5.74 GB of useless files sitting around in it, but none of the tools to delete them are working. Both Disk Cleanup and the option in the menu at:Settings>System>Storage>This PC>Temporary Files.Disk Cleanup won't even start, even allowing for some time. (I waited a full hour for it, still nothing.)I need to know where I can access these files to delete them myself. I already deleted things in the %temp% and prefetch folders, which brought it from 6.25GB to 5.74. I have tried running Disk Cleanup from every menu and shortcut it has, but none have worked.
