i upgraded my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 single language home edition .after the installation brightness control key is not working and also on the right bottom of the screen from the battery option the brightness option is disabled (m not able to select it ). how to fix this bug m using HP notebook
View 4 RepliesI have recently encountered weird problems with Windows 10, such as not being able to adjust the brightness (upon booting up, the brightness is either 0% or 100%), and sudden lag spikes that affect FPS by dropping it to 0 for 1-2 seconds, every 3 seconds. I have recently updated AMD Radeon drivers, and Windows 10 has also updated itself (which has always messed up everything) Also, now when the screen goes black (sleep mode), it always requires me to log in back to my Windows account, and it didn't do that before Windows updated itself.
The lag that I'm experiencing, is NOT connection-based lag, so my internet connection and everything works perfectly. It just the FPS that drops suddenly. It just freezes everything for a moment. It also doesn't require me playing a game or anything; just being on the desktop, having nothing open, will still make the lag spikes occur. My processor runs on the desktop around 8-24%, and when the lag spikes occur, it doesn't change at all. So nothing's draining the processor, I guess. Also the memory and all the others stay on the same level.I am using a HP Laptop that's not that efficient, but I have always been able to play games like Minecraft with decent settings on 60FPS.
I upgraded to windows 10 on 05/08/15. after completion of the upgrade the screen brightness increased tremendously. i am not able to reduce it. i tried mobility centre, device manager and all usual methods.

I think I got this problem after the windows update that came a few days ago. My laptop screen is brighter than my future right now and Im forced to use some third party screen filter software to avoid hurting my eyes..
I can't adjust my brightness on my laptop with either the hotkeys (F11 + F12), or with the display menu in settings.
Yesterday it worked before i got to bed, then i shut it down and this morning i started it up and the brightness won't change anymore.
I find the white of the win 10 windows just easy to bright, especially late are night. I don't wanna reduce my monitors brightness cos i have to up it again after to pay my xbox.is there a brightness setting?
View 9 Repliesjust updated to windows ten with my Sony Vaio 14 touchscreen laptop. 2 things ive noticed so far that have been bugging me is 1. I cannot adjust my brightness with the f5 & f6 keys like i could before... nor do i know how to changed the brightness now at all. Also if not able to connect to an external display (i.e. monitor or TV) used to do it automatically with 8 now nothing.

I pass the Gamma section, but when I come to the brightness and contrast part, I cannot adjust them. Under the picture it says that I should use controls on the display, but there are none. I tried using the mouse scroll and the up and down arrows, but nothing seems to work.
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded my lenovo z500 non-touch to windows 10, and i've been experiencing some problems. first, which is the most annoying, my start menu wont come up, i restarted a number of times and i tried the thing you copy in powershell and still didnt work. and also my brightness level is stuck, if i hit the + or - brightness on keyboard the brightness level meter on my screen changes but the actual brightness level of my screen doesnt move.

View 1 RepliesEarlier this morning, I had set my computer away for a while to update. Yesterday I was able to print just fine, but now there is no possible way for me to do so. My brother is also having this problem, and he is also on the newest version of Windows 10.
I have tried:
- Reinstalling Drivers
- Deleting and Adding Printers
- Restarting Spooler
I have a Lexmark x7675 printer that uses the 7600 series drivers.
How do you disable the monitor brightness beening changed on its own when the "Enable adaptive brightness" is set OFF?

View 3 RepliesRecently, my laptop has been unable to disable adaptive brightness. That is, brightness changing based on the color of what is displayed on screen. This happened after a windows update got stuck, then the laptop ran out of battery. The update has since been completed successfully.
To fix this, I have tried:
Changing setting in power options
Changing setting in Intel Graphics options
Various scripts for similar Lenovo laptops.
None of these have worked?
Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.

View 1 RepliesHave had this error for a couple days now. Tried regular checks to verify system components and online image and windows update service diagnostics, cleaned up SoftwareDistribution, turned off non-Microsoft auto starting services, - all to no avail.
Also, ran netfxsetupverifier, which gave me the only error - aspnet.mof missing, which I presume is OK.
I've been trying lately to update my Window 10 Laptop (previously Windows 7) to the latest build through WMCT (Windows Media Creation Tool), but I failed three times,
I downloaded the WMCT from Microsoft website. For the first two times I ran it, it failed through the updating windows phase (copying data, installing drivers and features, and a third one).
I tried deleting the content in Window/SoftwareDistribution/Download, and re-running, but also failed at the beginning of "Installing Drivers & Features". I am able to download everything and "preparing to install" normally, but it is just at that phase where I get a message saying "We are restoring the previous version of Windows".

I can't update to Windows, I got to 97% and then it failed, got a pic showing 96%.

Only one user on my laptop...purchased year ago and went from 8 and recently uploaded 10. Month ago forgot password and went to account.live.com /password/ reset and had no problems resetting and logging on.
View 2 RepliesBoth the Windows 10 laptop and the Windows Vista laptop have discovery on and file and printer sharing on. The printer is connected to the Windows Vista laptop. The Windows Vista laptop can see the files within the Windows 10 laptop. The Windows 10 laptop can see the Windows Vista computer but as soon as it tries to see inside it gives an error about "spelling of the name, etc." If using the diagnosis tool it says "One or more network protocols are missing from this computer". "Resolving problems as administrator" does not solve anything.

View 2 RepliesMy laptop has been running windows 7 very successfully and after being prompted numerous times to install Windows 10, I went ahead last night. Had no problems with the installation, however, on attempting to close down, the laptop would only turn-off after closing the lid which is not a problem, but after about an hour or so, it turned on automatically again without me touching it. It looks as though it only goes into stand-by. I have not found a solution to the problem - the result is flat battery when I tried to use it today. What is the solution?
