I would like to be able to rate or tag photos while I am viewing them to tag my favourites. Is there a way of creating a shortcut to enable me to do this on the keyboard rather than rating it and then pressing save (ie too many steps).
View 1 RepliesI'm facing a very weird problem with Windows 10 on my new laptop. Every time I boot up or even wake from hibernate, my keyboard repeat rate gets reset to the slowest setting. I notice this only when I start using word or email.
The weirder thing is, in the keyboard settings window the setting would always be shown as "Fast", but actually it would be slow. To make it fast, I have to drag it to slow and then to fast again.
I'm struggling to work out how to create a shortcut to websites I frequently use on my desktop, previously it was simply a right click on a blank area in the window but that no longer works!

View 8 RepliesI found that one can shorten the steps of shutting down windows by creating a shortcut on the desktop. by using this command "%windir%System32shutdown.exe /s /t 0" The shutdown exe file can be found in the directory above. I thought I may be able to create a similar shortcut but there is no 'reboot.exe' file in this directory so I assume it must have a different name. There are 4 files with the word 'boot' in it perhaps it is one of those.

setting up a mouse shortcut button to bring up the task switcher. I had mine configured when clicking the middle wheel, the task switcher appeared. Then rolling the wheel allowed selection of the desired active application, and a second click of the wheel selected that application.after upgrading to Windows 10, the "Task Switcher" shortcut no longer works. Also on eightforums.com, I discovered a method of creating this shortcut manually (i.e. referencing the appropriate GUID shell action ( Shortcut - Create in Windows 8)
However, this has stopped working in Windows 10.Is there any way to recover this functionality in Windows 10?Also, as an added bonus, is there any way to bring up Task View in the same way? Task view shows all virtual desktops and may be a more efficient way of navigating open programs than the Task Switcher.

This did not occur in Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, to my recollection. Shortcuts have been deleted and reconfigured.
This inability to pin a url to the desktop started 4 days ago. What I have done so far. Ran sfc/scannow 4 times, scanned with Norton Security and Malwarebytes and searched in vain on the web. I called Microsoft and they did a remote connection and Would not research the problem because it works in IE and would not persue the issue further in Firefox and Chrome.

Since I was wiping a PC anyway, I've installed W10pro x64 to decide if it could work.
Obstacle #1: I need to allocate a mouse button to switch between touch mode and desktop (wimp style) mode. What is the keyboard shortcut to bind for this? Or is there a script I could set the mouse button to launch if there is no keyboard shortcut available yet?

Win 10. Using Sleep button on my HP desktop keyboard works fine.
WIN 10 On my Surface (SP3), using Logitech K740 illuminated keyboard with Docking station.
No obvious sleep button on the keyboard.

How can I create a Sleep hot button, or what is best shortcut to create sleep, rather then waiting for automatic sleep to occur (20 minutes)?
I am using the keyboard shortcut (CNTRL+WIN+arrows) to get to different virtual desktops. But I don't like the slide effect since it kinda makes me dizzy (I have issues with vertigo). Is there a way to just have it "snap" to the different desktops without any sort of transition effect?

Furthermore, even though the target path is incorrect and no icon is displayed for the shortcut, the shortcut still works.Shortcuts to items placed in the Program Files folder by an installer do not have this problem. It is only for files that are manually placed in the Programs Files folder by me the user, i.e. copy and pasted there.

View 2 RepliesWindows 10 Pro is not playing audio at 96k sample rate. I have to lower the sample rate at 44k or 48k for Windows to play audio. When I play audio from my DAW software (Sonar X3) it plays at 96k without problems. Any audio played from windows or internet explorer does not work... My sound card is Motu 24io and used to play audio at 96k without problems on windows 8.1 Pro. There must be some issue with Windows 10 playing at 96k. I was thinking it might be the sound card, however the soundcard is working when I play audio at 96k through other software.
View 3 RepliesMy lappie has USB3 ports. Or course I know the clock down to whatever device you attach. I have a 500G Seagate External rated at USB2. Meaning my transfers should be 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps), correct? So why am I getting half that speed if I am lucky. Not plugged into a USB hub or anything, straight into the port. IS there some setting I am missing?
