Windows 10 is going to be an OS for all (Phone,PC,Tablet and Xbox ). So, point of discussion is that Is Windows 10 support a new Application file different from exe and iso? Or it support old Apps too?
And windows 10 will come with its own features and again all win 8.1 Apps get outdated same what we saw in case of upgradation from win 7x to 8 and from 8 to 8.1 ;and that app situation again appear.
As per title the three applications are the stock Windows Calculator, Movies & TV, and Photos. All three always start up together. I've never seen it happen when I'm actually using the computer but if you leave it unattended for an hour or so when you come back they'll probably be there.
This never happened with Windows 7 prior to updating. I've considered maybe it might be some multi-media keyboard combination mixed with a stuck key but an nkro test doesn't show any key registering when it's not being pressed and no amount of deliberate keyboard mashing has made any of the applications start up.
No other problems with Windows 10, just this one bizarre issue.
How Do I remove "Name group" from the top of my tiles section on the top of my start menu.
I have all the tiles removed. But can't get this to remove.
I dunno whats happened all of a sudden. but after doing the recent windows 10 update (Major update) most of the games i play and applications i use are now becoming unusable!
Certain games and or applications are going to 100% disk usage which cripples performance until i close the game or application down. then everything returns to normal...
After doing a bit of digging ive came to see that its always the same issue
Image > File Name
Archeage.exe > Pagefile.sys
Photoshop.exe > Pagefile.sys
etc etc..
Currently Windows 10 isn't showing apps that I already installed, for example, If I type Audacity or Sony Vegas, nothing appears. I have to manually go to the files directory and run the application or make a desktop shortcut (which i dislike) any way to fix?

Is there a way to get that application to open on the monitor I started it from. (Using the Start Button of that monitor) ?
I don't actually get the point of having an extra start menu taskbar on that second monitor if it actually open the application on the primary one instead of the current one. It defeat the purpose of having a Start button on those secondary monitor. (I means if you gonna open an application on the primary one, I might as well just use the Start button of the primary one!!)
Also i'm having a second issue related to the first one i guess:
Example: I open ChromeFile Explorer or whatever on my secondary monitor and close it. When I try to open a new one on any monitor it would open it at the LAST KNOW LOCATION of where I closed it.
This is very annoying when you use "Virtual Desktop" "Multiple Monitor" If I open an application I expect it to open where I launch it from(Monitor,Virtual Desktop etc).
I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
However once i install programs like Office 2013 i can't find the application exe files by searching in the start menu.
If i search for outlook or word in the start menu nothing shows up, this was not an issue in Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Is this a general issue in Windows 10 or do i need to change a setting somewhere?
I switched my microsoft account to a local account and now my laptop cannot start applications I have installed, such as Chrome and WoW. I tried switching back to a microsoft account and this did not resolve the problem.
I can see the installed programs in Programs & Features, but they cannot be uninstalled.
The shortcuts that were created for these programs say they cannot find the file location.
While I could just go ahead and reinstalled, this will be a problem for ones like Wow, and its a brand new laptop which I intended to keep as organized as I could :P not a great start.
I upgraded from windows 8 to 10 now my window applications will not start. It only has a blank screen. I can only use the task master but can not uninstall especially the security features. I am very unhappy with this product and I do not want it.
View 2 RepliesI have Windows 10. I recently had a problem with my Nvidia drivers, but could install them after all. But now I can see at startup that my graphics card is working, but after startup it stops working and windows switches to the graphics card integrated into the motherboard. After startup when I login, I can't see my profile picture, after logging in, my background where used to be a nice wallpaper is black. When I click on the start button nothing happens. When I try to search for something, it says 'These results may be incomplete'. If I try to open the windows settings app nothing happens. I also can't open Google Chrome.
I've found out that when I start up the pc, first the fan on my graphics card doesn't work, then does for 15 seconds and then stops working again.

View 1 RepliesI got the free Windows 10 upgrade yesterday and everything seemed to work really well until I tried using the Search Bar.The problem is that although search results are returned (The indexing seems to be correct) the images displayed under the Photos section are mostly missing their thumbnails which makes the feature pretty useless.Some images have thumbnails but most don't and it isn't any specific file type that does or not display it just seems random.

View 2 RepliesI recently reinstalled Fallout 3 but noticed every time I saved, they weren't detected in the Load screen. I checked the folder (C:UsersAlien2DocumentsMy GamesFallout3) and my saves were there! So the game is saving, but I'm unable to load any of them cuz they aren't getting detected.
I have Windows 10 which warns me the game is not optimized, but it runs fine. Also, I want to note I did not have to install Games for Windows Live when I installed fallout 3 through Steam, but when I click the warning Windows 10 gives me about the game not running properly, it sends me straight to an install link for GfWL which I decided to reinstall.
I had hoped to use the migrate method where you'd move the save files from My Games/Fallout 3 into whatever profile folder there is made from GfWL but after reinstalling and logging into my old account it didn't work.why I can't load my games?
I have had this issue for a while, any way to restore these. The Cortana Live Tile and Cortana entry in the All Apps section are both missing so I cannot re-add the Live Tile back.
View 3 RepliesI've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.
When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.
So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an animation program soon and to get a laptop of the same caliber costs $1000+.
Is there anyway I can solve this freezing issue/loss of wifi on my own? I'm thinking of taking it back to the computer shop (they've had a hard time trying to find out what's wrong with it) but I'm sure they'll charge me again and I'm not willing to end up paying a lot to get this fixed. Might as well buy a new one if it costs more than $500 to fix...
P.S. I'm also having issues with my sound card where I'd plug in my headphones and it would work but when I take it out, my laptop would say it's still plugged in. Addtionally, my CD Rom Drive makes a loud sound when I try to skip through CDs and DVDs. Sometimes it won't even skip and just continue making the sound. I don't know how my laptop has gotten to this state as I've taken very good care of it (minus allowing a younger sibling to use it but you live and learn). These issues don't bother me much as I can use a DVD player for my DVD's and the sound issue isn't an issue for me. I don't really care for it since I use headphones 90% of the time or have the sound off.
In Win 8.1 I had two programs that started automatically when starting my computer. After installing Win 10 only one does and I can't find how to make Windows starting the second
I searched in Settings, I searched for the name of the working program to find out in which file it is hidden to joint the second there but I don't find anything.

View 4 RepliesI have a problem where if I shut down properly, (not sleep, re-start or any other such incomplete close down) then during the night my computer will apparently attempt to start itself but it sticks with just the window icon on the screen. It is frozen at this point and I have to crash the computer before I can start it properly. I have to resort to crashing the system instead of shutting down to prevent this happening each night.

View 4 RepliesI recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. At first everything was working fairly smoothly; however, just recently, my startup programs are not starting up when I turn on my computer. Certain programs that are Enabled in my Startup menu are OneDrive, Google Drive, Growl, etc.
I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410.
My problem is exactly as it says in the title, Cortana isn't starting up with windows 10, I can't use the speech or search functionality. The bar is still there, but I can't type anything into it, I click on the microphone icon and nothing happens, ''hey Cortana'' isn't working at all.
