How To Assign Dataset Values In Header In RDLC Report
Apr 25, 2008I am using RDLC report with Microsoft visual studio 2005. In the first page of rdlc i have two text boxes and one table in body section. In the second and subsequent pages i want to repeat the data from textbox1 and textbox2 along with table data continuation of page1.
Currently the continuation of table data from page1 to page2 is working properly. But the textbox1 and textbox2 data also needs to be repeated in every pages.
I tried the following steps, but fails to work.
1. added two text boxes in header section and another two text boxes in Body section.
2. Assigns the dataset value to textboxes in body section.
(Ex: =first(Fields!Address.Value)
3. Assigns the textboxes value from Body section to the corresponding text boxes in header section.
(Ex : =first(ReportItems!textbox1.Value))
Result:
The header text box value displayed in the first page only and not repeated in the subsequent pages.
Expected:
Whatever assigned to the header section should be repeated in the subsequent pages. But only page number, date... is reflecting in other pages and not the text box values in header section.
Kindly give me the solution.

i have designed a Report and deployed that report on Report Server, on this report i need to show the user selected values
in page header by using Parameters which i have already created in the Report.
There are 35 to 40 fields in the Front End(Asp.net2.0)
on passing all these values from front end Report is prompting for parameters which is not desired for my case even though i have made ShowParameterPrompts to false.

Jul 2, 2015I've got a feeling that the answer is, "can't be done," but I'll go ahead and ask the august members of this forum, anyway. Is it possible to alter the placement of the Parameter fields when previewing a report?
At the moment, it seems that they form in a column of twos, reading from left to right. I see how the ORDER is affected, by changing the order of the parameters in the Report Data window, but can I change the number of columns?
Parameters Approach To Fill Report Header With Source Data Doesn't Work
Jan 19, 2007It's well known issue, that one can't use any dataset fields in a
report header/footer directly. One of the approach is to create
query-based parameter that basically equals
=First(Fields!@FieldName@.Value, "@DataSetName@") and use that
parameter value instead. But it doesn't work in my case!
My report displays some entity description and is parametrized with
EntityID param. Its header contains entity name that, according to the
approach, is queried from the data source through the EntityName
report parameter. There's important issue: the report is displayed in
ReportViewer control, that is embedded into my application and entity
ID parameter isn't ser by user in ReportViewer parameters area. Its
default value is changed by the application with SetReportParameters()
web method every time a user wants to view the report according to the
entity the user is exploring in the application. But after the report
has been rendered, its header always contains not actual (outdated)
entity name. Nevertheless, the report body contains actual data
(including entity name). If I alter entity ID parameter in ReportViewer
or in web-based Report Manager and refresh report, header displays
correct entity name.
What's wrong in the workflow described?
If All Values Of Dropdown Parameter Are Selected - Show ALL In Report Header

I have dropdown parameter with multi-values allowed.
In my report headed I want to show all the dropdown values that were checked by the user to run the report. But since there could be a couple of hundred values I want to show ALL when all the values are selected instead of listing them one by one.
How can I do that?

How can I pass a parameter used for the DataSet query? I'm using this DataSet file as data source of my .rdlc report for Windows Forms.
I've already done a .rdlc report to Web Forms where I passed the query parameter by ObjectDataSource.SelectParameters, but in Windows Forms this object was not created. I just hava the following created objects:
- despesaTableAdapter (from myDataSetTableAdapter)
- despesaBindingSource (Windows.Forms.BindingSource)
- RelatorioDataSet (from myDataSet)
- relatorioDataSet1 (from myDataSet)
Any help will be very appreciated.

Sep 29, 2015So I have a report that uses an MDX query to fetch the main data for the tablix. Then I have a custom row added which pulls data in via a Lookup function and references a different dataset. The report has 3 parameters. Each dataset uses those 3 parameters in its underlying query. However, the dataset referenced in the lookup function doesnt seem to be updating when change the parameters and re-run the report.

Can I use parameters to hide one column from one person? If its possible, can you explain how to do that please. If its not possible, what are the other option excet creating two different reports.

I'm passing values to few parameters in a report from menu report.
when I click on "View Report" button values are changed to default for parameters eventhough I've not changed specifically any values for parameters. thus report is missing few parameters and not able to execute properly..
this error occurs only in web environment.. after publishing reports.. they are working fine in developer suite(Visual Studio)
please suggest any ways to overcome this issue..

Mar 13, 2008I need some help. I am writing a report in SSRS 2005 that I then need to export to Excel. When I put a report header I would expect the header to not display in the Excel spreadsheet until the Print Preview or the Print. The report footer works just fine I put some text in the footer, and it shows up in the footer. The header though, shows up as a row in the Excel spreadsheet that then causes columns to merge. How do I get the report header to act like a page header?

Changing the report parameters or data sources to the values you specified is not allowed. The report is configured to run unattended. Using the specified values would prevent the unattended processing of this report
Now I understand the error, it is because on the report server's web management interface I entered credentials for the report to run that point to a custom datasource and supplied the appropriate credentials to run the report.
However, I don't want to have to reconfigure that just to deploy a slightly modified version of the report.
How can I get around this? Or what is the proper work around? I just want to change the background color from dark gray to light gray on a header column....

There is a one header in the report, when I publish and hit the report in IE(internet explor) the header appears fine on first page when I go to next page this header does not appear.
But in mozilla the header is visible on every page of the report. so it is working fine in mozilla.

Show/Hide Report Parameters Based On Selected Values In Different Parameter

I have requirement where first I need to show only one report
parameter. Based on user selection I need to prompt or show the user
another report parameter.
Say suppose I have 3 parameters. User selects first value in first
parameter I should not show the other 2 parameters. If user selects
second value in first parameter I should show second parameter and
hide third parameter. There is no relationship between these 2
parameters except user selection. Similarly if user third value in
first parameter then I should show third parameter and hide second
parameter.
Is this possible? I can not see any Visible property for report
parameters.
If yes, how to achieve this functionality?

I try to do an ADO.NET 2.0-VB 2005 programming in my VB 2005 Express to get @percentage printed out in the VB Form1. I read some articles in the websites and MSDN about this task and I am very confused about "How to Work with Output Parameters & Report their Values in VB Forms": (1) Do I need the Form.vb [Design] and specify its properties of the object and classes I want to printout? Repeating A Header With Fields From The Dataset

I'm designing a report and have the requirement that the report title needs to be repeated on each page. However, the report title is dynamic, retrieved from the database, so i cannot place it in the page header (what an annoyance). The solution i first thought of was placing the title in a table, repeating the table header on each page, however the problem i'm encountering is that when i have a subreport in that table, that subreport is in one row
--> if the subreport spans across multiple pages, the header will only be shown on the first page the row where the subreport is actually in...
any thoughts anyone on a possible solution?

The first method is not good for my report because I have another application that renders the report to a PDF.
And the second method I cannot refer more than one report item and I need to refer two items.

I have two datasets in my report, D1 and D2.
D1 is a list of classes with classid and title
D2 is a list of data. each row in D2 has a classid. D2 may or may not have all the classids in D1. all classids in D2 must be in D1.
I want to show fields in D2 and group the data with classids in D1 and show every group as a seperate table. If no data in D2 is available for a classid, It shows a empty table.
Is there any way to do this in RS2005?

I am trying to put my parameters in my page header.It do works fine.I am using a textbox to hold the value of my parameters.I use
= Join(Parameters!resourceParams.Label, ", ")
in my textbox expression.But my problem is,when there are too many values specified(because i am using a dropdown with multi select) the page header,overlaps the body of my report. The page header's text overlap the contents of my report body.What could be the reason or work around for this?? Thanks guys

Parameters Value From One Dataset

I have one dataset with a few parameters.
Each parameter get its available values from the some dataset.
So if I have the main DS whice is:
"select name,age,sex from table1 where age = @age and sex = @sex"
The available values for the parameters "age" and "sex" are those datasets:
"select distinct age from table1" and
"select distinct sex from table1".
The problem is thet the query on table1 takes a lot of time and in this case I need to run her three times.
Is there a way to initialize the parameters values in one query excution and save some time?

Report Header Alignment In Dynamic Report

I have a report that grows horizontally as it contains a matrix. In the header section of the report, I have items such as Title and time stamp in text boxes. How can I make these items align in the center if the report grows horizontally, it looks kinda odd with report title not being in the center? Any input will be appreciated.

Body Values In Header And Header Values In Body

I want to display a value from db in the header section. I have read a couple of information that I should place the value in a in-visible text field an reference it in the header with the ReportItems. This works great with the first page but on the second page the header information are empty (I think because the Textfield is on Page 1 not Page 2)... So is there a way to accomplish that for all pages? Not only the first page....
My second one, hope you don't mind that I post it in the same thread, is:
My Report needs to display the total size of pages in the body. I did not realy found anything useful where I can retrieve from the total size of pages of my reports....
