I wish to concatenate all the binary column into a single binary column and then write that to another table within the database. This application splits a binary file (Word or PDF document) into multiple segments (this is Column2 as below)

I have a scenario which I am not able to figure out how to do it better for quite some time.
Assume I have a few rows of data :
RunningID Date WOid
1234 1/23/2007 23
1236 1/24/2007 23
1239 1/2/2007 24
1222 1/4/2007 23
1321 2/4/2007 22
My objective is to merge all RunningID into a single cell when WOid is the same (this will most probably use a "group by" to get the different WOid out). Maybe some aggregate function that can do it as:
select ReturnConca(RunningID, "#") as RunningID_str, max(Date) as MaxDate, max(WOid) as WO from tableXXX
group by WOid
Results:
RunningID_str MaxDate WO
1234#1236#1222 1/24/2007 23
1239 1/2/2007 24
1321 2/4/2007 22

Concatenate Query From Single Column
Feb 22, 2007I have a query that I'm stumped on. The data has about 6000 records, of which about 460 of those have distinct dealer names and ids.
I am trying to condense this data so that there is only one record for each dealer, but my 3rd column has different values which is why some dealers have only 2 records, and others may have 10.
I know how to select distinct values, but what I want is to return a list of comma separated values for my 3rd column which consists of all the unique values from that 3rd column for that dealer.
For instance, say I have a dealer with 8 records. They have a unique ID and Dealer Name, but the 8 records appear because the dealer has 8 entries for its activity. The activities may or may not be unique.
So for example I have dealer ABC who has an id of 54, their name is ABC, but for their activites they have 8 entries (apple, orange, banana, pear, apple, banana, mango, peach).
I wnt to be able to select the distinct id, name, and distinct activities so that when my query is returned and displayed the record appears as such:
"54","ABC","apple, orange, banana, pear, mango, peach"
Does that make sense?

Mar 26, 2008Hi, I have a difficult case that I need to solve. I will try to be the very clear explaining my problem:
I have a sql query which brings me many records.
This records have a column in common which have the same value (COL1)
There is a second column (COL2) which has different values bewteen these records.
I need to concatenate values from the second column in records with same value in COL1. And I need only one record of the ones that have the same values. If two records have the same COL1 value, only one row should be in my result.
Let me give you an example:
COL1 COL2
RECORD1 1-A HHH
RECORD2 1-A GGG
RECORD3 1-B LLL
RECORD4 1-B MMM
RECORD4 1-B OOO
RECORD5 1-C NNN
Me result should be:
COL1 COL2
RECORD 1-A HHHGGG
RECORD 1-B LLLMMMOOO
RECORD 1-C NNN
It is clear what I need? I dont know if I can solve it through sql or any function inside SSIS.

Jun 18, 2014I have a stored procedure that returns a single row based on a parameter of employee ID. This particular procedure uses a CTE to traverse our org structure. One of the columns is returning a delimited string of Windows login values and due to the business rules, it can contain duplicate values. I need to have that column contain only unique values - no dupes.
For example, this one column could contain something like this:
domainuser1;domainuser2;domainuser2;domainuser 3;
The need is to convert to this:
domainuser1;domainuser2;domainuser3;
I know that's a tall order.

Jun 13, 2008I'm working on a sales commission report that will show commissions for up to 5 sales reps for each invoice. The invoice detail table contains separate columns for the commission rates payable to each rep, but for some reason the sale srep IDs are combined into one column. The salesrep column may contain null, a single sales rep id, or up to five slaes rep IDs separated by the '~' character.
So I'd like to parse the rep IDs from a single column (salesreplist) in my invoice detail table (below) to multiple columns (RepID1, RepID2, RepID3, RepID4,RepID5) in a temp table so I can more easily calculate the commission amounts for each invoice and sales rep.
Here is my table:

Here is some sample data:

As you can see, some records have trailing delimiters but some don't. This may be a result of the application's behavior when multiple reps are entered then removed from an invoice. One thing for sure is that when there are multiple reps, the IDs are always separated by '~'
Can anyone suggest a solution?

May 21, 2015I was to split each record into multiple columns. The problem is some records need to be split into only 1 column, others may need to be split into more. Also need to remove the "/"'s. This is all dependent on where a "/" is found. Been beating my head for a while and getting nowhere.
So:

Sep 10, 2014I’m trying to figure out a way to sum columns for similar IDs, based on the contents of a single field. For example, if I’m calculating attendance percentages for students, and codes P and T count as Present, and codes A and E count as Absent, I would want to total Present and Absent codes separately, in their own columns. I would then like to use those totals to calculate percentage, but I can do that. It’s the SUM based on column value (by ID) that is giving issue.
If I have the following view:

I’ve been playing around with nested queries, but nothing’s working. This is a glimpse of the mess that I’ve created trying to sort this out. Many errors.
I just noticed that I used a simpler example than the SQL I included, so I modified it a bit. There are additional fields that I'll need to include, but I want to get the logic working correctly. From there, I can handle the rest. So here's a more appropriate code example showing the direction I'm trying to go with this.

I have an MDX query - that works fine in SQL Enterprise Manager, and has my dimension members on columns, and my measures on the rows. When I try the same query in Reporting Services, I get the error:
"The query cannot be prepared: The query must have at least one axis. The first axis of the query should not have multiple hierarchies, nor should it reference any dimension other than the Measures dimension..
Parameter name: mdx (MDXQueryGenerator)"
Although it works when you pivot the view, I really need my data presented with the members on the columns and the measures on the rows. Another forum post mentioned using the SQL 9.0 driver, but I can't see this listed anywhere (the only one I see is the .NET framework Data Provider for Microsoft Analysis Services).
Here's what my query looks like -
SELECT
{ [Time].[Month].&[2006-09-01T00:00:00] ,
[Time].[Month].&[2006-10-01T00:00:00],

1) I have an index, which is consisted of 4 columns.
I've read elsewhere that this index functions (as well) as an index (single column
index) on the first column of this multi-column index.
Does this mean that if i'd like to have (in addition) Indices on all of the 4 columns
seperately i need to define only 3???
2) I have a unique key consisted of multiple columns.
I'd like to save an index to this combination of columns as well (to speed up
things in DB...).
Does the definition of a multiple-columns key free me from defining the multiple-
columns index???
can anyone explain the main diference between Keys and Indices???
Subreport With 3 Columns Renders In Main Report As A Single Vertical Column.
Aug 28, 2007I have embedded a subreport in the detail section of my report. When I view the subreport in page preview mode it renders with three columns, but when it is rendered w/in the main report in page preview mode the 3 column layout is rendered as a single verticle column.
I've defined the columns in the Body/Columns. I have also set the report inteactivesize and pagesize heights in an attempt to remedy the issue. Margins are set to 0.
Any help is appreciated.

I want some of the Filters to be just Single Value Select Filters like dropdowns instead of Multi-Select ,as multiple selected values can show garbage data. Also it is very inconvenient for the end user to keep unchecking/clearing the previously selected value and then select the appropriate value. Is there a workaround or is it a limitation that has yet to be addressed???
