I have an application I write a textbox: 'SQL SQL' MICROSOFT 'SQL SQL'When I click a button, I wanted to receive as stored procedure parameter:@ String = 'SQL SQL "OR MICROSOFT OR MICROSOFT OR' SQL SQL '.
Where the XL500 KOJI is the item Code and the rest of the text is the name, unfortunately my report engine doesn't support Can grow and hence the text is long in this case around 104, it can be around 250- it got truncated in the print out, I can split the text to 50 characters each but the result would be
XL500 KOJI This item is the best item in the mar ket you cant find anything else like it 500HP ama zing
As you can see the word market and amazing was sliced. How do I split the text to 50's but if that splits a word it will be copied to the next filed like this
XL500 KOJI This item is the best item in the market you cant find anything else like it 500HP amazing
Good Day All, I have an interesting situation that I cannot believe is unique. I have a flat file (ragged right) that contains 5 different record types. Each row in the file identifies the record type in the first character. The layout is something like this:
File Header Group Header (Contains group id number) Data Item (Contains group id number) . . . Group Footer (DOES NOT CONTAIN GROUP ID NUMBER) Group Header (Contains group id number) Data Item (Contains group id number) . . . Group Footer (DOES NOT CONTAIN GROUP ID NUMBER) File Footer
Now I only want to extract data for ONE of the aforementioned groups, however I need the group footer as well because it contains some control totals for the group. The real problem is that the footers do not contain the group id number it goes with. It is a completely positional thing. Silly, yes I know but this particular file layout is an industry standard.
I thought the conditional split would be the way to go. Unfortuately, it seems the conditional split wants to split the entire data set before passing the results down stream rather than processing a single row at a time and passing that row down stream before processing the next one. (Blocking versus streaming I think its called) I could do it in a single god-awful script but I would rather try not to have to code the entire thing.
Hi JayH (or anyone). Another week...a new set of problems. I obviously need to learn .net syntax, but because of project deadlines in converting from DTS to SSIS it is hard for me to stop and do that. So, if someone could help me some easy syntax, I would really appreciate it.
In DTS, there was a VBScript that copied a set of flat files from one directory to an archive directory after modifying the file name. In SSIS, the directory and archive directory will be specified in the config file. So, I need a .net script that retrieves a file, renames it and copies it to a different directory.
I have three tables, Accounts, AccountCustomer and Customers, and the data-relationshiop between are defined according to the image below:
I created also a query (the sql-query below), displaying the customers for every account that is on the table "Accounts", and I got the results, as we can see in the image below:
SELECT A.AccountID, c.CustomerNo, c.Surname, c.Name, c.TaxNum FROM Accounts A left join AccountCustomer ac on ac.AccountID = A.AccountID left join Customers c on c.CustomerNo = ac.CustomerNo order by A.AccountID;
As we understand, an "AccountID" have multiple customers, so I want to transform tha multiple results to one row, grouping by AccountID (one account belongs to one or many Customers), like the image below:
I tried to use row_number()-expression to get this, but I didn't make it. So my question is, how can I alter my sql-query to get the final result like image above?
I found string from net how to split column data to row
SELECT A.JbIDFull, A.ProdID, A.OrderQty, A.OtherDetails, A.OrderDate, c.Item FROM (SELECT JbIDFull, DeptID, ProdID, OrderQty, OtherDetails, OrderDate, LamORSteachType, JBID, RMIDs, RMQty FROM tblJobCardforProduction WHERE JBID = '2' AND DeptID = '3') A CROSS APPLY dbo.SplitStringNEW(a.RMIDs,';') b CROSS APPLY dbo.SplitStringNEW(a.RMQty,'/') c
When I apply one cross apply it's working fine but when i apply for one more column is replacing three time one row, this data i want to split RMIDs and RMQty with same JbIDFull
I've a table that has salescode(124!080) and salesamount(125.65!19.25) and I need to split the columns. Salesman(124) has commission(125.65). Here is the DDL:
USE tempdb; GO DECLARE @TEST_DATA TABLE ( DT_ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED , InvNoVARCHAR(10) NOT NULL , SalesCode NCHAR(80) NOT NULL
I have a parameter called Id in my SP which will be of nvarchar data type and i'm going to get the multiple ids at a time seperated by commas in that parameter from the application. Now my requirement is to update a table with these comma seperated ids in seperate rows.
For example, if i have 2 parameters called Id1 and Id2. Id1 will contain only one value and will be of int data type and Id2 will be of nvarchar data type as i can get multiple ids delimited by a comma from the application.
Suppose Id1 = 1 and Id2 = '1,2,3,4'. Then I have to update id2 in the tables seperately like wherever Id1 is '1' i need to update Id2 column for 4 rows with the value 1, 2, 3, 4 respectively in different rows.
how can i do this in T-SQL? How can i split the data of parameter Id2 in 4 different rows?
I'm using sql 2008 and triying to build a dynamic sql script to split the records 50/50.I know using newid() with order by clause selects randomly but how should I build the select statement to split the data 50/50 so i don't need to run the script manually everytime ?
I have a table that has some comma separated values and then have another table with the lookup values. I"m not sure why it was created this way and have not had to do this. This is a vendor database so I can't go around and changing things.
Table A IDStageIDs 188 288,86,87 388,87
Table B (Lookup table) IDName 86test1 87test2 88test3
I need to split a field based off it's length. Initial thought was to take Left(field, characters), and Right(field, characters), but now I see I am duplicating the data as I am capturing too much of the data in. However, what I actually need to achieve is in field1 capture the left 1000 characters, and in field 2 take from character 1001 to the end. How can I update my syntax so that field2 will ONLY capture from character 1001 to end?
field1 = COALESCE(CASE WHEN DATALENGTH(exitinterviewnotes) > 998 THEN LEFT(CAST(exitinterviewnotes AS VARCHAR(MAX)), 1000) ELSE exitinterviewnotes END,''), field2 = COALESCE(CASE WHEN DATALENGTH(exitinterviewnotes) > 998 THEN RIGHT(CAST(exitinterviewnotes AS VARCHAR(MAX)), 1000) END,'')
I have a field in a table that contains addresses e.g
15 Green Street 5F Brown Steet 127 Blue Street 1512 Red Road
I want to output the numbers into one column and the address to another column as i need to produce a report that only shows streets and roads but no numbers.
So basically no matter how many characters before the first space which can be numbers or letters i want these output into two columns.
Hello, Is there any way to run a parameterized statement against SQL when you have an unknown ammount of inputs. Instead of doing the following: FOR i as integer = 0 to topValuestrWhere &= " OR myColName='"& myArr(i) &"'" NEXT wash up the string and submit this to SQL, I want to do it with parameters. I'm calling a sproc in SQL and I would prefer just to send in a string like "1,4,42',45" in a parameter split that in SQL and run my query. The query would be something like "...WHERE myColname=1 OR myColname=2 OR myColName=3" I only want to declare one parameter and not use string concatenation as described above. It doesn't matter if there's a split function in SQL or not, as long as it solves my problem in an efficient manner. Cheers!/Eskil
Let's say if the date is 01/01/2015 till 01/01/2016
I want split these dates monthly format wise and then use them in variable in cursors to loop
For an example Monthly date should be 01/01/2015 and 01/31/2015 and use these two values in 2 variables and make a loop until it never ends whole date range which is 01/01/2016
Hello i need to know hoy to use the LIKE operator to find results that contains 2 or more words. ================TABLE EXAMPLE====================== I HAVE A TABLE CALLED ITEMS
ITEMNAME Good Bike Good Mountain Bike Klein Bike Mountain ===================================================

What to code i need to write if i want to get that results for QUERY: "Good Bike" returns Good Bike Good Mountain Bike
Hi I'm using the full-text indexing on a table and I'm trying to implement a search where users can search for words and use wildcards themselves. However I'm working on a method so that can enter a wildcard in the middle of a word to get records where they are unsure of the spelling etc. For instance, a search of 'Ste*en' should return results like 'Steven' and 'Stephen' etc. So if they are searching for word 'establishment' they can search for 'estab*ment' and it should return all the records using this query: SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE CONTAINS(myField,'"estab*ment"') If I do a wildcard at the end e.g: SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE CONTAINS(myField,'"estab*"') I get the results I am looking for. But the middle wildcard does not seem to work as expected even though it is the syntax used on MSDN and other SQL info sites. Is there something I am not doing properly?
hi i am working on sql server200.I m using "LIKE" to search the records. There is freetexttable and containstable table also.just like to know the difference between them.Could anyone provide me a good link regarding this??Thanks
Hi There, I've created a couple of search pages which look at sql server. whenever words or values like "?@~:&£^" etc, or words like for, the and so forth, the page the nasrty error page: Execution of a full-text operation failed. A clause of the query contained only ignored words Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Execution of a full-text operation failed. A clause of the query contained only ignored words. In short: is there a way I can stop it doing this. It looks rather horrible. I've looked at form validation but cant find anything that seems to fit. I would imagine there is a simple solution, but I haven't been able to find it so far. Many thanks Stuart
