I am currently trying to figure out how to change the background colour of a cell when that row happens to be a subtotal
I have included a screen shot of my report design below:
(The link to the image is http://diagnostic.iipuk.co.uk/images/RS_Questions.JPG should the image not be displayed)
When the cell that is circled is on a subtotal row (i.e. is the subtotal of either the first subtotal (which I have called RegionTot) or the second subtotal (which I have called QCTotal) I want the background colour to change to black). This is so the user cannot see the subtotal for that column on the screen.
I have tried using the following expression in the background colour property for that cell (without success!):
The error that comes up states that report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope.
I have searched help and haven€™t managed to find anything!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Is there any way I can set the background colour for an image in a table cell (or even for a non-embedded image for that matter)? I always seem to get a white background.
I am creating a matrix in which row color changes alternately(1st row white second row blue and so on .) now i am calling this matrix as a sub report in other report and i had applied grouping on that row in which this MATRIX is called the problem i am facing is in first sub report 1st row is coming in white color while in second sub report 1st row is coming as blue color background  And so on...
Why so is happening as i want 1st row as white and second row as blue i all sub reports .
I have a Matrix report in SSRS and have added the subtotal in the report. Now I would like to change the color of the subtotal to a different color than the matrix report cells. However when I change the color, only the subtotal cell changes color and not the whole row which includes the summarised total. Is it possible to color the entire row in the matrix report?
My Expression in the data fields inside design mode is:
IIF(Fields!Row_num.Value mod 2 ,"White","LightGrey")
I am using a Dense rank Function at the dataset level in order to group id column wise. So Fields!Row_num.Value comes from that set.
Earlier it was BLANK values: Please see below for reference.
Tried IsNull on SQL Server already and does not work because there are no NULLs in the data I am retrieving. The empty cells happen when the matrix creates the crosstab report - where there is no data for a column. Everything else works well except the BLANK values being not colored as you see in the screen shot, im using ISNOTHING function to achieve those 0's if NULLS inside the report. But though we have a value inside the cell coming from report it does not colour the entire group.
My requirement is coloring the entire column group irrespective of the NULLs' or Blanks.
Have also tries several functions, but of no use. I am missing with a tiny thing I guess which I am unable to figure out.
Other Functions Tried:
=IIF(VAL(ReportItems!ROWCOLOR.Value) MOD 2,"WHITE","LightGrey") =iif(RunningValue(Fields!City.Value,CountDistinct,Nothing) Mod 2, "LIGHTBLUE", "SILVER") =iif(RunningValue(Fields!DQLogDateTime.Value,CountDistinct, Nothing) MOD 2, "LightGrey","White")
My team is using TFS for work item management and I'd like to provide a week schedule matrix that displays: - weekdays on the x-axis - persons on the y-axis - and the assigned workitems in the cell.
This works fine if there's only one WIT (work item) per day but some WIT's are shorter and thus the resource is assigned more than one a day. My dataset may return something like this:
Date Person WIT 28/3 Mark Task1 28/3 Mark Task2 28/3 Hank Task3 29/3 Mark Task2 29/3 Hank Task3
In this case I'd like the matrix to look something like this, i.e. the two tasks Task1 and Task2 in the same cell: Mark Hank 28/3 Task1 Task3 Task2 29/3 Task2 Task3
I've set up the matrix in the report but I only get the first item per day to show. Mark Hank 28/3 Task1 Task3 29/3 Task2 Task3
The default definition in the cell was "=First(Field!TaskName.Value)", so I figured I'd solved the issue by changing it to "=Field!TaskName.Value", but it didn't.
Hi All, I have a table containing 21 columns. I want to alternate the color on the rows, to make it more radable and nocer to the eye. As such I set the BackgroundColor property on the entire TableRow (so it is applied to every textbox) to the following:
In theory it should work. I checked a few of the texboxes to make sure everything was okay and indeed the BackgroundColor property on each one of them was properly set to the above expression.
When I tried to build the report, I was prompted by 21 errors (one per textbox) stating the following:
[rsCompilerErrorInExpression] The BackgroundColor expression for the textbox 'FIELDNAME' contains an error: [BC30455] Argument not specified for parameter 'TruePart' of 'Public Function IIf(Expression As Boolean, TruePart As Object, FalsePart As Object) As Object'.
Obviously the TruePart parameter has been specified ("LightGray" in my expression), so what could be wrong??
Select distinct colour from wwwstocktbl where colour <> ' ' order by colour
The stament works as a statment but when run in asp i get an error as theres no primary key, but if i add the primary key then the select distinct fails
Select distinct ProductCode, Colour from wwwstocktbl where colour <> ' ' order by colour
I have few chart based reports where I am showing different costs in series. I want to fix the colour of each type of cost so that I can maintain the same colour for each cost in different reports.
Any change or bug in SSIS 2012 which doesn't allow you to change the font colour of an annotation. I am able to change the font type, size and style just not the colour. I have migrated packages from 2008R2 with colour and when placed into 2012 they show as black although when I check the setting they still indicate they are set to the particular colour.
I am running SSIS 2012 version 11.0.5058.0 in Visual Studion 2010 shell Version 10.0.40219.1 SP1 with MS .NET Framework Version 4.5.51641 SP1.
I have a chart on a report that shows value in £ on the Y Axis. The values can be both positive and negative. I would like to have the negative labels to show in red and the positive in black. What is the expression syntax to achieve this? i know it will be an IIF statement, but what is the syntax to show the Y Axis label as <0?
eg if i was doing this for a field it would be iif(Field!Fieldname.value <0, "RED","BLACK") but what would i replace the FIELD!Fieldname.vaue with so the expression would change the Y Axis label.
i want to apply a hatch pattern to the fill colour on my bar graph and it doesn't work. i select fill colour, then i select hatch colour, i preview and it doesn't show the hatch pattern.
i would use gradient only i use 2 colours the same (hence why i want to differ them in a way other then colour) and they show up the same in the legend - legends don't display gradients
I have an issue in trying to format rows base on conditions. Below is a replication of the tables and the select statement.
CREATE TABLE #CompareVal (CompareValID INT Not Null , ValName NVARCHAR(75) Null , Vehicle INT Null , Driver INT Null ); GO
[Code] ....
First issue, James and Jane does not have a driver available and that should show "No Driver available"I am to compare values in VehicleAvailable and DriverAvailable to the first row - (Group Value Standard row) so that when a value is less than the value in first row, it should be Gold, if equal to, Blue and if greater than then, Red.
The first row is to be Black. In other for me to be able to compare, I added columns like so:
SELECT #CompanyName , [Description] , ISNULL(CAST(VehicleAvalible AS NVARCHAR(30)),'N/A') AS VehicleAvalible , ISNULL(CAST(DriverAvailable AS NVARCHAR(30)),'No Driver available') AS DriverAvailable , 0 AS TotalVehicles , 0 AS TotalDrivers
[Code] ...
And my expression for "VehicleAvailable" column is :
=Switch(Fields!Description.Value = "Group Value Standard" AND Fields!VehicleAvalible.Value = Fields!TotalVehicles.Value, "Black" , Fields!Description.Value = "Group Value Standard" AND Fields!VehicleAvalible.Value < Fields!TotalVehicles.Value, "Black" , Fields!Description.Value = "Group Value Standard" AND Fields!VehicleAvalible.Value > Fields!TotalVehicles.Value, "Black"
[Code]....
This doesn't work as I am comparing integer against text value. How do I format to get result like the below image?
I am working on a sport site, where i have to create a Calender Like thing where i have to show which sport is avaible in which month, we can have any numbers of sports as the club grow it can add 100s of different sport to itself, so i was not able to understand how to make a database for this kind of thing, can anyone please help

======================================================================================= I have a matrix table above, a "%" value is needed to present in the "%" column. But i can't get those value in red color in every row accordingly.
I'm trying to create a table that is a combination of two tables, and the number of columns is dynamic. So I have 2 tables, Students and Assignments. I'd like to get a result with the students on the left and the assignments across the top. I'm not sure where to start, any help would be great. Thanks
I am wondering if tempdb stores all results tempararily whenever I query a large fact table with over 4 million records which joins another dimension table? Since each time when I run the query, the tempdb grows to nearly 1GB which nearly runs out all the space on my local system drive, as a result the performance totally down. Is there any way to fix this problem? Thanks a lot in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly for your kind advices.
I cannot create a measure that returns results for dates that do not exist in the fact table despite the fact that the components included in the measure contain valid results for these same dates.Creature a measure that counts the number of days where the "stock qty" is below the "avg monthly sales qty for the last 12 months" (rolling measure). Here is the DAX code I have tried for the measure (note that filter explicitly refers to the date table (called Calendar) and not the fact table):
Below you can see the sub measures (circled in red) are giving results for all days in the calendar.Highlighted in yellow are dates for which the StkOutCnt measure is not returning a result. Having investigated these blank dates, I am pretty confident that they are dates for which there are no transactions in the fact table (weekends, public holidays etc...).why I am getting an "inner join" with my fact table dates despite the fact that this is not requested anywhere in the dax code and that the two sub measures are behaving normally?
When I run the report, the result set returns say 100 rows for table and a row for each project in Matrix. The header and detail rows of table and matrix are perfectly aligned with each other, however, on the first page the table displays 47 rows and then breaks while the matrix displays 50 and breaks. On the next page the Matrix is three rows shorter. As a result the bottom of each control does not align on any page.
Any ideas what could be going wrong or how to fix this?
I'm having trouble creating a seemingly simple Comparison report. I want to be able to create a Table or Matrix that displays the number of items for the Current Year, the Previous Year, and the Difference. I was able to write a script that gives me the count for each item, for each year, as illustrated below:
Item WhichYear Count
Apples Current Year 2
Apples Previous Year 2
Mangos Current Year 214
Mangos Previous Year 204
Oranges Current Year 13
Oranges Previous Year 20
Pears Current Year 19
Pears Previous Year 50
Strawberries Current Year 28
Strawberries Previous Year 40
Ideally, the report Layout look like this, with a column for each year, and a separate column for the difference:
Item Current Previous Difference
Apples 2 2 0
Mangos 214 204 10
Oranges 13 20 -7
Pears 19 50 -31
Strawberries 28 40 -12
Sounds simple enough to me. But when I put it in a Table, I can't get the counts for the Current and Previous Years on one line per item. They end up broken down into two lines (as illustrated in the first chart). When I try to add a grouping, it somehow holds onto the Current Year numbers and ignores the Previous Year numbers. When I put it in a Matrix, I can't seem to write a simple calculation, like finding the Difference between the two columns. Can I add a non-pivot row or column to the matrix?
I know this is a very general question... Any idea on whether I should go for a Table or a Matrix or another approach, like a summary table?
Hi,I have following data,India 91USA 01UK 44Like this, I have 100 Records (Rows) with 2 Column DataNow I want to have report like belowIndia 91 USA 01 UK 44Pakistan 92 .....How can I do this?Nilesh
Hi, I create a matrix table with wizard. I want to write rownumber() as a new column near my column. But when =Rownumber(nothing) it returns the value of the record in the dataset. If the data in the 56.row then =Rownumber(nothing) =56 But in the preview of table it is in 1.row.
