I know if I want to directly install Win10, I have to get a new license ; but if I just reinstall my Win8.1, will I be able to perform the upgrade again ?

Jan 14, 2016Today I updated my laptop to latest build of windows. After that I found "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" message. I reinstalled audio drivers from Dell (Audio_Driver_PKGMR_WN32_6.0.1.7564_A01) Still no sound. I checked device manager it shows, Other Devices-High Definition Auduio-PCI Device, both have exclamation mark in yellow triangle. (See attachment) I am puzzled what should I do next.

Jan 6, 2016Have a Lenovo H420 desktop that was upgraded about 2 months ago. We backed up everything and want to reinstall Windows 7.
But I can find no way to get into the Setup screen. I've gone to Settings, Update & Security, Advanced Startup and Restart Now. But I have no option to Use a Device. If I choose Troubleshoot then Advanced Options, the subsequent screen has no option for UEFI Firmware Settings.
I've disabled Fast Boot through Power Options in the Control Panel, then tried F2 and the Delete key when starting. Nothing...
The fact that I can't do something that was so easy in Windows 7 is enough reason in itself to remove 10. Throw in the fact that the scanner part of my printer no longer works is just icing on the cake. I have the Windows 7 disk. I just can't figure out how to use it.

Feb 10, 2016I have had to reinstall my wireless printers everyday for the last couple of weeks. I upgraded to Windows 10 in December of 2015. I'll get the message that no driver is installed and that they are not connected to the network. One is an HP Officejet 8600 all-in-one & the other is an HP Envy 100 D410. I have had these printer a fairly long time with no problems. Now I have to go to the HP site & reinstall the drivers every day & then run the installation process again. I use their IP addresses when installing them.

Feb 10, 2016I've done a reinstall of Windows 10 today. I unplugged my internal storage HDD's to isolate the SSD for the install, wiped the SSD, and reinstalled 10.
Now it's installed, I've plugged my 2 internal HDD's back in, started up Windows, and neither drives are showing. Neither in device manager or in Explorer. What could be the issue here, and how do I resolve it?

Oct 11, 2015I was forced to uninstall the Lenovo power management driver from my laptop because it was giving me blue screens (I believe it used to happen when the display was meant to go to sleep). This means that I now have no power management and the fan goes full blast all the time. Therefore I want to reinstall the driver to see if I can find a workaround to the crashing while keeping the fan a bit quieter. How do I do this? Windows Update can't see that it is missing and Lenovo don't have a download for it, presumably because Windows is supposed to handle installing the driver automatically.

Oct 1, 2015I recently upgraded directly from Windows 8.1 64-bit to Windows 10 and I am having some problem with my Ethernet Adapter. My Ethernet Adapter is a Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is built in to my motherboard (MSI Z87M GAMING). When I first installed Windows 10, I found both a software suite and just the drivers themselves on the Killer website. I first tried the whole suite, but it didn't really work very well, felt unnecessary, and basically didn't seem to actually install any drivers. I then used the actual .inf file for my Ethernet Adapter to install manually. I uninstalled the driver and software, and then installed the driver manually through Device Manager by saying "have disk" and navigating to the folder and selecting the .inf file I downloaded. This works, but I have to repeat the process of uninstalling and reinstalling the driver every time I restart Windows.
There are additional variables that could also contribute to the problem. I am using one of those adapters that plug into the electrical outlet to extend the Ethernet line to reach my basement. I don't know if this really should have any effect on my problems, but I figured I should mention it. The product is made by TP-LINK. I also have VPN software on my computer, and part of running the VPN software is having it install a "TAP-Win32 Adapter V9" driver under Network adapters in Device Manager. This could be contributing to my problems, but I do need to have access to my VPN. I did not experience this problem at all under Windows 8.1 using the driver install disc that came with my motherboard.

Aug 29, 2015WEBCAM NOT WORKING. I have a Toshiba DX730 All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 10. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 my integrated webcam has not worked. I have unsuccessfully tried the following:-
1. Checked the BIOS to ensure the webcam is enabled - it is.
2. Uninstalled/installed the appropriate drivers from Toshiba Support numerous times, including after a clean boot.
3. Uninstalled the hardware from Device Manager numerous times. An interesting point here is that the webcam does not appear in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, but is shown under Other Devices as USB 2.0 Camera, next to which is the dreaded yellow exclamation mark. Right clicking this and selecting Properties always shows that no driver is installed. I've run Driver Update and pointed it to the appropriate folder, but Windows always fails to find the driver.
4. Uninstalled Skype, just in case it was causing a conflict.
5. Run the software in compatibility mode.
None of this has worked!! When I open the Camera app the following error message appears "Something went wrong. Make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another app". Skype cannot detect a webcam.

My sound was working fine until I installed Windows 10..I upgraded to Win10 and I played a youtube video and I hear choppy glitchy like sounds few once in a while.. How do I stop it from chopping out? My brother has the same computer as me and he upgraded, his doesn't make the choppy sound. I tried with his headphones in my computer, it still occurred. How do I stop it from chopping out?

Aug 3, 2015This was working fine on Win 8.1, but since my upgrade my PC now won't wake up from any keyboard, mouse or PC power button press once in S3 sleep or hibernation.
The only way to wake the PC is to reach back to the PSU and turn the power off, wait 5 seconds, then turn the power back on. I can then press the power button on the front of the PC and Windows then resumes from sleep.

Aug 16, 2015I have a strange issue where after a full shut down in Windows 10, the motherboard is still delivering power to my connected devices such as my headset, keyboard, mouse and monitors i.e. all the lights on these devices are still on, whereas previously in Win7 they would all turn off.
I did an in-place upgrade from Win7-Win10 and adjusted no motherboard BIOS settings.
I've looked through the Win10 power options and can;t see anything relating to keeping devices on after a shut down. I assume this is so USB devices like phones and tablets can charge from USB when the PC is off? However I don;t need this feature if that's the intention.
Is windows 10 (vs win7) sending a different command back to the MB on a shutdown?

Feb 1, 2016My dvd player drive isn't listed and when you try and play a dvd the player spins but doesn't play anything since upgrading to windows 10. I have checked in device manager and it says device is working properly. I have also done the upgrade driver and it says I have the latest driver.

Dec 16, 2015Was not working straight after upgrade, but I noticed it worked after doing a Vaio system check. Now it's gone again. Don't fancy doing a system test everytime I want it to work and automatic update driver does nothing.
Searches on microsoft site generally brings up issue with same error that are external plugged in devices. This is the internal cam in my Sony Vaio.

Now, i am replacing/upgrading RAM. i want to know if RAM has to do anything with Windows 10 auto activation after fresh install, in case if i need a fresh install again in future. or i should stick with my current RAM?
Drivers :: Intel Wireless - AP Mode Gone After Upgrade
Oct 3, 2015I have a laptop with an intel AC 7265 wireless adapter built in. With the normal Windows 10 driver, AP mode works - which I need to run Connectify.
I upgraded to the latest Intel driver as I was having other issues (Wireless would just disconnect and give me a 1609 address) but the new driver apparently doesn't support AP mode (hosted network support = no).
How I can get AP mode supported again?

Mar 5, 2016I have two desktops using a single keyboard, monitor and mouse via a KVM device. One desktop is running Windows 7 but I've just upgraded the other from Windows 8 to Windows 10.
All was 100% well on both machines before the upgrade. The Windows 7 machine is still fine (as you'd expect!) but on the Windows 10 machine hitting the key on the keyboard has no effect whatsoever. On Windows 10 set up I chose "UK keyboard" as usual; I think I've always done whenever I've loaded any version of Windows.
(The sharper ones amongst you will have realised that I'm typing this on the Windows 7 machine!!!)

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Ultimate, but the drive is not recognized by the OS. However, the drive does show up in BIOS. I have searched and cannot find a driver for this drive.
