I use "Photos" app as default viewer when i manually open a picture file from explorer. I don't really like it, except for its touch feature but i give it a try..
One missing feature is that once i opened a file in it from explorer, i can't browse others files in same folders from application. Is there a way to enable this ability ?

View 5 RepliesOne of the most useful feature of the previous Photo viewer ist that it easaly allow to browse all the images in the folder where any image was opened
This feature seems to have diasapear in Windows 10 so on every machine installed with Windows 10 I replace the default application to open image by the old Photo viewer
But I do not really understand why Microsofr is replacing very usefull application by new and removing very useful feature So for now I do not see many improvement for new apps around Windows 10 Paint .NET +Photo Viewer is much better that the new MS Photo Thunderbird is much better that the ridiculous new Microsoft Mail Configuring Chrome is much easier than Edge etc..
tried to burn some files to the DVD deleted them from the popup dialog box that you click on you have files waiting to burn but now the autoplay feature doesn't work can't brows the files on the DVD or when i put a DVD movie in to play it doesn't play
View 6 RepliesEven when using disk cleanup in admin account it will say deleted but after restarting and going back into disk cleanup they are back.Even using Windows app they come back after deletion.On another note system restore doesn't seem to work , i did a system restore and even though i got the message that system restore completed successfully after i rebooted my screen was frozen and i had to do a system refresh to get it up and running again.I have been waiting for it to delete my temp files for 8 minutes already.

View 1 RepliesI'd just upgraded to windows 10 yesterday, and I've been having issues with browsing files. Today, I was trying to change my background from settings, and as soon as the file browser opened up, it closed straight away. Settings also stopped working. It was frozen, and I had to close it using ctrl+alt+delete. Pretty much the same thing happened with 3D builder, however the application crashed after the file browser closed. I've done sfc/scannow and tried restarting windows explorer but nothing has even remotely worked.
View 2 RepliesI don't know if this is related to Win10, or an issue that existed with my Win8.1 before. I just noticed it after upgrading yesterday.
So, my firewall just prompted me about an outbound connection attempt by a file (named C:WindowsSystem32SIHClient.exe) and I didn't recognize it. I found it using explorer, and it's unsigned; so I visited VirusTotal.com and tried to upload it... but from the file upload browse box in Chrome I can't see the file! Even typing *.* and open doesn't remove the "filter" and reveal the file. (I finally ended up copying it to desktop and uploading from there, but still don't know what the file does.)
I thought that Explorer's "File View Options" (show hidden files, do not hide operating system files, etc.) were used throughout Windows once applied. Am I wrong? Should I suspect a virus or is this normal? What gives?

Been searching around and people say to reset IE, but Windows 10 doesn't have IE, I deleted some files from AppData like someone said to be able to reset Edge.
Same thing happens, I'm getting quite annoyed at this.

I currently encountering a problem restoring files from the shadow volume. I do not see any version history when I click the previous version history tab. Using a third party tool like shadowexplorer I am able to see the previous versions. Exporting the files out from the shadow volume also is incomplete with file errors. Any way for me to restore fully some files from the shadow copies ?
View 3 RepliesBefore win10 (until 8.1), I was able to open image files within zipped folder with Windows Photo Viewer and view next/previous pictures. After upgraded to win10, I can still open a pictures file within zipped folder but can no longer continuously view next/previous image. I have to either unzip or double each one to open.

View 1 RepliesI have two HDD drives - C (main drive) and D (storage) Drive C has windows 10 installed (upgrade from 7 today) and seems to be running OK
Prior to the Windows 10 install I had problems accessing the D drive drive so I booted from a Linux Mint disc in order to access my stuff on D, all went well and I created two folders with my stuff in them ready to access once I had upgraded to Windows 10.
Installed Windows 10 on C drive, all working great, I can see both HDD, I can see and access both drives, I can access one folder on the D drive and see all my files inside but i can't access the other folder on the D drive named "documents" Windows 10 says it's a system (.sys file) and asks for an app to open it.
Have I lost all my stuff in that folder ...
Button for new folder exists but does nothing. This is a new problem and system restore to oldest restore point did not work. Have run scf scan without errors. Have confirmed permission to modify parent file folder. I can rename existing folders. Have run Bitdefender & CCleaner registery cleaners.

I have certain folders I must refer to frequently and I'd like to create a shortcut which would pop one open in a new window without having to wade through the whole drive's folder structure. This was normal on my last pc running XP but I can't seem to duplicate in Win10.
I just upgraded my Windows 8 OS to Windows 10 and it has left.Old.windows folder.with many included files on my Harddrive. I have already backed up and transferred all the files I wanted to keep from that old version and wish to delete that file and all that is in it. But it seems not to allow me to do that. I have tried numerous times with Admin privileges and it still will not allow be to delete.

I hate 'quick access', it slows everything down so much and makes all other folders invisible - I just want the normal file list visible and file explorer to open in the same folder as I was using before, in that list. View 9 RepliesIt works fine, but suddenly today the New menu disappeared from my click menu when I click on any blank place in a folder. What's worse, if I click the New Folder button under the File Explorer top menu, there is no response. In the end, I can only create new folders using command lines but not by the usual shortcuts.

"This file does not have a program associated . Please install a program or , if one is already installed , create an association in the Default Programs control panel "
The only way to open the folder is to use right mouse button click and choose open, very annoying to work like this. The only strange thing I see is that when I klick right mousebutton on top it seems windows wants to open my folder with "cmd"...

In File Explorer I right-click a folder and select Properties. In the Customise tab, under Choose a file to show on this folder icon, I select Choose file. I navigate to my Pictures folder and select an image and then click on Apply and OK. And nothing happens, the folder is unchanged and has no picture on it.

View 1 RepliesI waited for Windows 10 to get rid of Windows .old and Windows.~BT folders but it never happened. If the scheduled task for disk cleanup is supposed to do it I discovered the task will only run on my laptop when I am plugged into power and only if the system is idle. That does not happen very often on this laptop.
So I decided to use the disk cleanup app built into Windows to remove previous operating systems and installation files. It got rid of the Windows.~BT folder and emptied the Windows.old file of everything except one folder within Windows.old for something in folder AMD64_prnLx00.inf..... and file Lxktptprc.dll.mui. I can not delete or rename it and I have the correct privileges. This laptop has dual boot with Windows 8.1 on one side and Windows 10 now on the other. Windows 10 upgraded my W7Pro side over a month ago.
I got all my space back but would like to know if there is a way to finally remove the Windows.old folder.
