BETWEEN For Text Data Type Date Range

Jan 10, 2005

I am creating an ASP page that uses a database with a field labeled 'Date' of data type Text.

I would like the records within a date range.

I tried using the following query:

"SELECT * FROM Project WHERE Date BETWEEN ' " + strBeginDate + " ' AND ' " + strEndDate + " ' "

I was partially successful.

The database contains data from 1/1/03 to 12/31/04.

When the following range is entered: 04/10/03 - 04/21/03, the results returned are 04/10/03 - 04/21/03 AND 04/10/04 - 04/20/04.

Any suggestions on how to approach this problem?

Thanks

Run Text Data Type Against Date

Jul 28, 2005

I need to run a query for a particular time frame. The only problem is that the CurrentDate field in the table has its data type set to Text.

I thought I could do something like this but it didn't work:
WHERE cdate(myTable.CurrentDate) >= #01/01/2004#

Isn't there a way to "convert" this field so that it behaves as a date field when the query runs?

Thanks,

How To Have Text And Not Numbers In Text Data Type

Jan 13, 2006

I was wondering if there is a way of only allowing text in a text field - we need to do this for validation purposes when inporting a text file into a database. I have tried input mask but this only checks when entering new data - I have tried to use validation rule like"???????" however this means that there has to be 7 letters in each field and this is not the case. - the field is for town and a couple of the records in this field have numbers at the end which are incorrect that we want the database to reject :eek:

Access Text Data Type Options

Nov 14, 2004

Hi All,

I was doing a project for school where I had to make a text field that would only accept the options Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)

I thought I did it right by having a line with the field name as "Client Type" and the input as "text" with a field size of "3". and the description I put was "Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)". But it doesnt work. I saved and everything. It will let me enter anything I want as long as it doesnt exceed 3 chars. I want it to ONLY accept RET, SER, or DIN and I want it to format it so its in CAPS.

Thanks,

Tables :: Project Name To Be Text Data Type

Jul 23, 2013

In my database I have the following:

1)Projects table:
- Project ID - Number field (Primary Key)
- Project Name
- Location
- (other fields)

2)Working details: (this table has a form based on it and it's used to enter data by users)
- Project ID (this field has a lookup for the same field in the first table)
- Project Name (this field has a lookup for the same field in the first table)
- (other fields)

My problem is : in the second table, Project Name field has "Number" data type because the relationship between the table is on the Project ID which is number field. I want the Project Name to be "text" data type in the second table.

How can i do that??

Queries :: Specific Date Range Based Off Of Other Data

Jun 14, 2013

I have multiple buildings that I own. Each building earns a monetary amount each day. Some days they earn $0, some days they earn $1,000. This is all kept track in a data base in which someone manually enters the information each day.The three fields are:

Building
Date
Profit

I have narrowed a query down to one building, and I am interested in two things. How do I write a query that shows a 30 day peak (the most profitable 30 days). In other words. I want to see the following
Building: GNB Tower Date: 02/14/13 - 03/15/13 Profit: $25,162

The next thing I am interested in is a 7 day peak from within these 30 days. This shouldn't be too difficult if I can figure out how to query these 30 days, I can query 7 days out of those 30 days. So this bigger mind stumper is the first one.

out of a date range of months and months (Let's say 10/12/13 - 6-14-13).Once I figure this part out, I am sure I can figure out how to compile all buildings into one large report with their 7 day peak and 30 day peak.

Automate Data Type Conversion At Text File Import

Jul 7, 2005

hello once again,
I need to import a text file into an existing table in Access. The text file has been imported once and is working well and everything. However, since I had to change some of the datatypes to be able to query the table correctly, I now cannot import the text file anymore unless I change the datatype of the table itself. Since someone other than I will be doing the imports from here on out, changing the datatypes everytime is out of the question. I was looking at the TransferText event, but I didn't seem to see anything about converting data types. I can think of two options, and neither are probably possible:
1. import using the wizard. Since I didn't see anything related to the types of data, I don't think this will work...
2.import using TransferText. This doesn't seem to give me any opportunity to change the datatypes either. Is there anyway to programmatically change datatypes, or is there possibly an easier way that I'm overlooking??
thanks in advance,
*j

Client ID(Autonumber)
Client Name (Text)
Client Address (Text)

Order Table:

Order ID(Autonumber)
Client ID(Short Text)
Unit Order(Number)

Error With Date/Time Data Type

Jan 4, 2005

Hello all - One of my 3 users' computers keeps coming up with an error when I try to enter the following command in the "Validation Rule" field of the table design view:

>=#1/1/1998# And <=Date()

Some investigative work showed that it's erroring on this clause: "<=Date()". Any idea why it would error on her pc and not the other 2 pc's? Her pc is old, but we're all using Access 2002. The error says: "The function you entered can't be used in this expression." Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks much.

Queries :: Data Type Mismatch For Date

Jul 17, 2014

I'm trying to create a query based on another query. However, my WHERE statement is causing a data type mismatch for a date. My code is:

Code:
SELECT id, status, updated, [previous renewal]
FROM qrynext renewal
WHERE status = "active" and [previous renewal] = date()

If I remove the " and [previous renewal] = date()" it works just fine. But even setting up [previous renewal] to equal #7/17/14# or "07/17/14" or anything else I've tried won't work. The field that it's based on is definitely a date field, but I don't know why it would cause a data type mismatch.

It is strange because I have three other fields with the same format and no truncation at all. May I know what could be the reason and how/what is the recommend data type for storing long text?

Date Parameter Cause 'data Type Mismatch Error'

May 5, 2005

hi

I'm writing a pretty simple application to search an Access db. The query is:

Me.cmdSelectEvents.CommandText = "SELECT eventDetails.id, eventDetails.subject, " & _
"eventDetails.title, eventDetails.trainers, eventDetails.type, eventDetails.summary, " & _
"eventDetails.url, eventDates.date " & _
"FROM eventDates INNER JOIN eventDetails ON eventDates.id = eventDetails.id " & _
"WHERE (((eventDetails.subject)=@subject) AND ((eventDetails.type)=@type) AND ((eventDates.date)<@date));"

The parameters @subject and @type are simply strings selected from dropdown values.

The @date parameter is set by using a dropdown to select a timeframe to search in, specifically "Within 1 month", "Within 3 months", "Within 6 months". These options have the values "1", "3" and "6".

When the form is submitted the value of the selected option is passed into the following routine:

Dim valSelectedDate AsInteger
Dim dateParameter AsDate
valSelectedDate = ddlDate.SelectedValue
dateParameter = DateAdd("m", valSelectedDate, (Date.Now))
cmdSelectEvents.Parameters("@date").Value = dateParameter

When I run the debugger the right date value seems to be being passed to the sql query (i.e. if the user selects "within 6 months" and today's date is 5th May 2005, then #05/11/2005# is passed as the parameter) but I get the error data type mismatch. The column eventDates.date is a Date/Time column.

Can anyone help?

Insert Null Values Into Date And Integer Data Type

Sep 22, 2006

Hello guys,

Does anybode has any idea, of how to do that ? I can do it very easy in VB.NET, or C#, but in Access I give up.

So, I have to take data from the form , and send it to Sub.

With data type of String , I have no any problem, use Nz funciton, end everything, goes well.

But with Date and Integer, I can not find solution.

So :

Date

Dim PensionerFromDate as Date

PensionerFromDate = IIf(IsNull(Me.txtPDPensionerFromDate) = True, ????, Me.txtPDPensionerFromDate)

(instead of ???? i tried everything .. dbNull, vbEmpty, vbNull,sqldatenull, and somtimes it works but int the table stores "12/301899")

Integer

Dim CompanyID as integer
CompanyID = IIf(Me.cboCompany.Column(0) = 0, ????? , Me.cboCompany.Column(0))

I tried here instead of ????, tu insert "", ",," , " " , Cint("") itd. itd. . but nothing works.

Has anybody any idea ?

100 x thanks in advance

Linked Excel Table In MS Access Date Data Type Problem

Aug 29, 2005

I'm using MS access and Excel 2000. I have an Excel spreadsheet that contained 8 columns, the first column has all cell format as Number, the rest of the column is set as custom date format of 'dd/mm/yyyy'. When I create a linked table in MS Access, the data types does not matched my excel spreadsheet columns, the 'Number' data type is a double and I want a Long Integer in Access, and the custom date format become text datatype but I wanted a DateTime datatype. Is there any work around this? Seems like it is a common problem.

Your prompt response is greatly appreciated!

Criteria For Date Field Causing 'data Type Mismatch' Error

Jul 31, 2005

Hi,

I have a query with a field defined in the query as follows:

Next Bill Date:
IIf(IsNull([dtmLastBillDate]),
DateSerial(Year([dtmDateRecd]),Month([dtmDateRecd])+1,15),
DateSerial(Year([dtmLastBillDate]),Month([dtmLastBillDate])+[lngNumMonths],15))

I can't seem to set any criteria for this field without getting an error:
'Data Type Mismatch in Criteria Expression'

Examples of criteria that I've tried:
=#1/1/2005#
>#1/1/2005#
=Date()
Year([Next Bill Date]) = Year(Now())

All of the above generate that same error.
{I've seen many pages/posts regarding 'data type mismatch' but none seem to relate directly to this situation.}

I could use some help, fast!

Thanks in advance,
David
