Open A Fresh Form With Few Details Entered

Feb 20, 2006

Hi there,

I am fairly new to access. I have searched high and low for help on this particular topic. Its something pretty simple, I just don't know exactly how to do it.

Basically, the user will have a client selected from the main form, when they hit the button to go to another form which has details on services done on that client at a specific date, i want the new form to have the clien'ts ID present and a fresh record present in which I can enter the date of visit, what was done, recommendation, etc.

Right now its popping the new form open with the client, but it displays the last record that was typed in that new form. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on this?

Thanks

Visual Sign To Show User Details Have Or Havent Been Entered

Nov 23, 2006

hi.. i have one table with fields 1-8

2 forms are used to fill in the details for each record using the primary key on each form.

eg

FORM1
jobid
date
day
time
price

FORM2
jobid
pickup
dropoff
vehicle

is there a way that on FORM1, i can indicate to my user whether or not any details have been entered into FORM2

maybe a colour system.. eg

if table.pickup and table.dropoff and table.vehicle are empty
form indicator on FORM1 is red (to show that none of the details on FORM2 have been entered)

else if table.pickup or table.dropoff or table.vehicle are not empty
form indicator on FORM1 is green (to show that atleast one of the fields on FORM2 has been entered)

it doesnt have to be a colour scheme, it can be wording.. eg

Form2 Empty, or Form2 Completed...

just some kind of sign to my user..

anyone ever tried or used something like this before?

Hide The Details Section In Form When Using Split Form View?

May 1, 2012

how to hide the the 'Details' section in my form when viewing it in Split Form. I tried to use

Code:

Private Sub Form_Load()
Me.Detail.Visible = False
End Sub

but that just makes the Details section look blank, as oppose to not having it there at all.

have only the Form Header and Datasheet visible in the Form View of my form. Similar to the 'Contact List' form in the Contacts Template that comes with Access.

Viewing A New Form With More Details Of A Record

Nov 27, 2006

I have got a form with summarised data (of records) on view for people to look at. (this is a continuous form). For each record I would like to have a button that displayed another form with more details on it. So by pressing the button opposite a particular record it would take the Id value of the record and open another form (with more details) at that particular record.

I would be very interested in seeing this done with a macro if possible but beggers can't be choosers!

Form Details Colour Control

Jan 2, 2007

Hi,

I have a couple of identical databases in Access 97, they have lots of forms. My users use the two different versions of this database, but linked to different sets of data depending on what they are doing.

I distinguish between the two versions by making the background colour of the log on and Switchboard forms different. It would be nice if I could cause the background colour of the other forms to match the Switchboard without having to go through and change each form individually.

Can someone please give me a clue as to how this can be done?

I know using Me.Detail.BackColor = RGB(100, 100, 255) would work, but I can't see how to a) get the RGB values from the Switchboard.

Auto Fill Location Details On Form?

Sep 14, 2006

I have stumbled through making a few new forms and tables for my new job, and have done alright so far (even if it takes me forever to do so), but there is one thing that keeps tripping me up. I just cannot figure out how to do it, even by looking at the designs and properties of other tables/forms.

Part of my form requires me to input location details. A table is setup with every City, State and Zipcode for usage on the form. Our old form was designed to auto-fill (is that even the right term?) the City and State fields upon entry of a Zipcode. These are all coming off the same table, and it works on our old form, but I cannot seem to replicate it on the new one.

I have 2 other issues with the form, and they are also both related to this auto-fill/auto-lookup hangup. Another table is set up with employee IDs, and their corresponding Last name, First name and Middle Initial. I'd like to be able to type in the ID and have the next field automatically enter the corresponding name. Similarly, I need to enter certain other data, and I would like the next field to fill in a short description of said data.

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction? Like I said, I've pretty much made everything else work by learning from the designs of other tables/queries/forms we have, and by trial and error. But this final hitch seems insurmountable.

Print Mailing Label From Details Displayed On Form

Feb 23, 2005

Hi there,
I have created a form containing contact details for a 100 or so different people/companies. I want to have a button that will allow me to print an address label for the current displayed record (e.g. when I find the company I wish to contact in my form I wish to click [Print Label] and then get this company's address printed on my label).
Have some programming experience but not sure how to go about this in access?

Also as an aside question, is it possible for me to display a list in my form instead of individual records. What I mean is that I would have Name, Address, etc as titles accross the top and then would have a list of all records below these. Then I could click on a record to get more detail and also click on one of the titles to re-order the data by this field?......I know these are pretty big questions but a pointer to somewhere with this info or a sample app doing something similiar would be great. :)

Thanks for your time, regards,
Lavaghman

Input Fields To Change Record Details On A Form?

Aug 17, 2005

I have a query with the fields employee_name, shiftname, shiftdate and have set it up so that 2 input messages boxes popup allowing the user to input a shiftname (a,b,c) then a shiftdate. from this query i have created a form, but instead of having 2 message boxes popup on screen before the form is loaded is it possible to have 2 input fields on the form (one for shift date & one for shiftname) that allows the user to enter into these fileds whenever they wish provided the form is open and all the records bellow change matching the employee name with the corresponding shiftname & date?, any advice would be great.

Forms :: Change Form Details Based On Two Combo Boxes

Jun 12, 2014

1.How do I change which command buttons are available depending on whether the user has selected a customer or a prospect? Do I use two different subforms or is there a better way?

2.How do I hide the other combo box once the user has selected either a customer or a prospect?

Print Form Details, Not Form?

Feb 4, 2006

Hi,

I put a print command button on a form and found that it actually prints the form, pretty much as seen.

What I actually wanted was to print a report which takes all the details of the current record shown in the form, including subforms and tabbed pages.

That way, a user could navigate to the record by any one of several different fields (contract number, project title, project number, and various other ways projects are identified in the organisation I work for) and get a snapshot of the entire project for reference without having to print a report for all 250+ projects and then looking for the project of interest.

Thanks in advance.

Keith.

Hi there

I have a small problem that I was wondering if someone could help with.

When a user creates a new record I would like it so that some html is written automatically in to a defined column.

Is this possible? I tried to use the default value property of a column but access does not like it.

Any ideas

Thanks :D

Entered Value In Form Must Not Overwrite Tables

Nov 8, 2004

HELP!!! I am getting quite desperate. I am a novice. I have made a database for customers, products, etc. They all have good relations. I have made a query where I can see who bought what and when and how much it costs. Now here's the problem. When my prices in my product list (this is the table of which the prices show up in my form) have to be altered (because of prices going up), it automaticaly changes the query and the form!! According to messages stated in this forum, I have opened the properties in the text boxes and changed the price fields, "enabled" to no, "locked" to yes, and the forms DataEntry to yes. Strangely in the North Wind example, the prices shown in the form (entry form), are extracted from the subformdetails table. But how can you extract something from a table if there is nothing in the table?? Totaly I have four tables (Orders, Orderdetails, Products and Customers) Alle these tables are joined on a one to many basis.
Please can somebody help me.....
Thank you
Anouk (Netherlands)

Can I Set My Form Default To Last Entered Record

Oct 1, 2005

Hello, I have a program/database that I'm building in Access 2003, It has new client/bid entry form that has many text boxes for instance: Client, address, Phone numbers, Date etc. These text boxes are actually populating the same text fields in the PrimaryBid_Master form.

My question is every time I fill out the client entry new bid form and then exit to the PrimaryBid _Master form it defaults to the very first record entered, and I would like it to default to the last record entered, The record I just got done entering into the new client bid form, this would save me from having to filter/find it every time I enter a new bid/client, Is this possible and if so Can you describe to me how I can have my program do this?

Thanks--Chuck I really appreciate any help/suggestions.

Verify If Data Was Entered On Form

Oct 18, 2004

Hi all..

This is my first question posted on this site. I have created a survey with questions to be answered. The database is already populated with records of the people's names who were getting the survey. What I need is when the data entry clerk brings up the customer's name on the form, is that they are forced to enter the surveys answers for certain questions before they click the "Save" button. The answers are set up as radio buttons on the form (ie Less than 6 Months, 6 Months, 8 months and 1 Year).

Not sure if a Before or AfterUpdate macro is needed?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please email me directly if you have code.

Thank you

Form Does Not Display New Records Entered

Jan 10, 2005

Hi,

I am new here and have been using the build features (and not the code as I do not understand this) to build my registration database.

I have several tables of imported data nicely displayed in one form with tabbed sections. When I tried adding new records by entereing them in the form, they are saved in the underlying tables but the new records are not displayed in the form when I go back into the form.

All the tables seem to be linked to the form when I go into the form selector and Edits are allowed in the property box.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Danielle.

Query Not Using Fields On Form Instead Asking For Parameters To Be Entered

Mar 15, 2007

I have created a query that will pull the price of a property into the cost field combo box on a booking order subform depending on the values of the start date and property number enter onto the same form.

The query gets the price from the property price table matching on the property no i've selected on the booking order subform and also the start date i've entered on the booking order subform which needs to be between the start and end date fields in the property price table.

Fields in the property price are property price no, property no, start date, end date and price.

Also the booking order subform is a subform on a booking form

This is the query i have created:
SELECT [Property Price].Price
FROM [Property Price]
WHERE (((forms![booking order subform]![start date]) Between [property price].[start date] And [property price].[end date]) And (([Property Price].[Property No])=forms![booking order subform]![property no]));

The problem is when i run the query from the cost combo box the query isn't picking up the fields on the booking order subform instead its bring up a seperate meesage box from parameters start date and property number to be enter.
Can someone give me advise how to make the query use the values in the fields on the booking order subform i enter before running the query. cheers

To Find Out Maximum From The Records Entered By The Form

Jul 27, 2005

Hi People,
I am working on a database related application in which the user enters the data from the form and it is stored in 3 related tables in DB.

This is what I want to do,

If IsNull(Me.Q1_2005) = True Or Me.Q1_2005 = "" Then
rs!January2005 = Me.Jan_05
rs!February2005 = Me.Feb_05
rs!March2005 = Me.Mar_05
If parametername = "time" then
rs!Q12005 = DMax([Me.Jan_05], [Me.Feb_05], [Me.Mar-05])
else
rs!Q12005 = DMin([Me.Jan_05], [Me.Feb_05], [Me.Mar-05])
End If

If user enters monthly data of Jan'05, Feb'05 and Mar'05, but he is not entering quarterly data of 2005 Q1. So I need to update Q1 data in that record, that has a condition. If the parameter name is time then I want maximum of the three month data assigned to Q1 record in DB table else I want minimum of those three text box values assigned to Q1 record in DB table.

Please help me with this kind of conditional statement.

Data Entered In Form To Record Source

Aug 26, 2005

I have a form where users enter data in various ways - combo boxes with drop down selections and text boxes where users manually enter some data. I also have several text boxes that return "answers" based on calculations from user entries mentioned above. The form is bound to a table where all the entered data is stored. I'm having trouble saving the calculated information to the bound table. It's easy in all the non-calced boxes, I just put the column name of the bound table in the control source, but in the calculated fields, I already have the formula in the control source. How can I identify the proper column to save the data in this case.

Thanks!

Preventing Opening A Form Unless Data Is Entered? And Some Other Q's.

Oct 29, 2006

Hello again,

I have three questions this time 'round:

1. I'm in need of some way of preventing a user from opening form B unless he has entered information in form A.

Right now it is possible to open form B without entering data in form A (form A being the date/time info and form B being the case technical info) due to which a record is created for clientnr 0 (which should be a non existing client). Querying for clientnr 0 from time to time and deleting those records is easy enough, but who knows what kind of relevant data could be stored accidentally in a record that doesn't belong there.

This happens by the way, even though referential integrity is enforced throughout the dbase. Maybe I should say, because of that. I want to keep it that way of course to prevent orphans roaming around. But having orphans for clientnr. 0 is also not a good idea.

2. What is the wiser thing to do: keep all information concerning one case for one client (date/time info per case, techinfo per case, maybe even products sold info per case, payment info per case) in one table and have the data needed for each thing entered in seperate forms, or have all data split up into seperate tables like I have now. One for clients, one for dates and times, one for the technical info for that case etc.... ?

It is starting to seem a bit ehrm... useless to have all that data for one case floating around seperate tables. I don't know... it seems so much more complex (having to create multiple relations, multiple PK's per table etc.).

Where do I draw the line? For example the image attached (relationship2.jpg): now I have one PK in the table holding the clients (clientnr), two PK's in the table holding the case date/time info (clientnr and casenumberdatetimeinfo), three PK's in the table holding the techinfo (clientnr, casenumberdatetimeinfo and casetechinfonr). And what's next? Four PK's in the table holding the sold productsinfo? Five PK's in the table holding the invoice info? And what about the relations between those tables? Right now I can still comprehend.... but when I start thinking ahead, I'm starting to get dizzy. So some advice on this would really be highly appreciated.

3. Which build up of the relations between the tables in the dbase is better? The one in relationship.jpg or the one in relationship2.jpg?

Forms :: Data Not Saved After Entered In Form

Feb 5, 2015

I am not sure where this thread should be in forms or queries. I have database which has 3 linked tables by ID in each table. I have built a query on the 3 tables, then created the form.

Now when I enter data on the form and save it, when I open up the said form again , the data is not there. Yet the data is in both the table and query

If I only use 1 table, then there is no problem. The record source for the form is the query, and the query uses the 3 tables.
