Oct 8, 2015I have itunes, but I had to upgrade it to the newer version, but it did not let me because of problems. I did MS troubleshoot and it told me this:

Jan 15, 2016Before I updated to Windows 10, I must have damaged some files whilst trying to turn off Windows 10 notifications in Windows 7. I couldn't do any updates in Windows 7 either.
There is no error code. Windows update troubleshooter says: "Service registration is missing or corrupt."
I ran sfc/ scannow, it said it found corrupt files but was unable to fix it. The CBS log is attached. CBS.rar

Mar 24, 2016My Win 10 Update function is not working at all. There are over 100 updates saying "Waiting for Download." The progress bar stays at 0%, even when there is nothing else running at all.
I ran WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, and it said "service registration is missing or corrupt." It won't say which service it's talking about.
I ran SPF /scannow and it said no integrity violations.
I ran DISM /scanhealth, /checkhealth, and /restorehealth, and they said "no component store corruption detected" and "restore operation completed successfully."
I did all the steps in "Reset Windows Update Components" and they all completed successfully, but nothing changed except that the list of updates disappeared (they all reappeared as soon as I clicked on 'Updates are available).
A search on "service registration is missing or corrupt" shows that this is a common problem. The only advice that I haven't tried is to re-install Windows 10. I don't want to have to re-install MS Office, Kaspersky, etc.

Sep 11, 2015I checked for updates in update and security. shows updates waiting to install but can't get them to install automatically or manually. I ran ( I think it was) MS Fixit which said "Service registration is missing or corrupt" and can't offer a solution. I don't know how to repair or reload win10 as I don't have a system disk. I did make a backup usb stick before downloading win10. Would using this reinstall win 8.1?

Aug 11, 2015So far, things have been ok with my Windows 10 update. Today I tried to look for updates, as I think this is the regular Patch Tuesday. However, it takes a long time, then gives me the error in the title. Using the update fixer doesn't work, I just get the "Service Registry is Missing or Corrupt". What would be causing that?
I'm also getting a problem with task host not wanting to allow shutdown, what's the deal there?

Nov 12, 2015I upgraded my Toshiba laptop automatically from 8.1 to 10 when the software came out (months ago) - have had no issues with it. Then I was using my laptop it flashed blue and turned off. It now comes up with with recovery - your pc/device needs to be repaired (see image) - I'm able to access the recovery settings - have tried refresh, system restore, automatic repair, nothing works and seems to get worse. I have a lot of personal files/photos that haven't been backed up for about a month and want to save them! I've downloaded the Windows 10 iso to a usb - but have only get semi regular access to a Mac so unsure if it's bootable.

It also says "Audio Service is not running" but I checked under "services" and it clearly is (and I can hear audio!). I even restarted it to be sure.

Remote Access Connection Manager Service Missing?
Oct 18, 2015after recently downgrading and then upgrading back up to Windows 10 I experienced yet another problem. Now I have no remote access connection manager service. This was discovered by a technician via live support trying to create a VPN connection.

Aug 17, 2015I'm having the issue where installs don't work, but just get stuck on Updating component registration. On Windows 7 to fix this you had to remove update KB2918614, but now I can't find a way to do it as that update is not longer around. Is there a new update that causes this issue?

Aug 6, 2015I'm currently running a PC on Windows 8.1. Of the course of it's use, I've had numerous problems with installing drivers and other software and have tried multiple times to clean install the OS from the disk. I've gotten to the point where I can't install most software I download for some reason and I can't get Windows update. Any type of sfc, dism /RestoreHealth, or other commands of the like always return unfixable errors. Would my problems be fixed by choosing the "clean install" option on the upgrade or would lingering system files cause me trouble down the road? If the latter is true, is there a way to use my upgrade on a new SSD I plan to buy?

Oct 25, 2015Earlier today while playing Dying Light, my PC randomly blue-screened with the error "page fault in nonpaged area cpuz136_x64.sys" - After running a malware scan, nothing was found. After that I cleaned my registry with CCleaner. I haven't played Dying Light since then, but a few minutes ago I decided to run sfc /scannow - and It came up with a few files that were corrupt.

Nov 1, 2015I have run SFC /SCANNOW and a large number of files have been found to be corrupted in Windows 10, and cannot be repaired by SFC. The CBS log is too large to attach, but I have extracted a list of all corrupt files attached.
After looking at similar posts, I downloaded SFCFIX.exe by Sysnative and ran that in an elevated command prompt, but the message I got was that source file could not be found. I have also run SFC in safe mode and also run DISM, but neither solves my problem, and the corrupt files persist.

Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.

Aug 19, 2015I've received 5 files from 5 sources, both Excel and Word. Every time I try to open one I get an error message "File is corrupt and can't be opened." I can work on my own files, but not downloads.
I tried the Windows 10 "workarounds" but these didn't work. I've tried to download using both Firefox and Edge, no difference.
SFC And DISM Error When Trying To Fix Corrupt Windows Files
Aug 3, 2015I ran "SFC /scannow" and got an error saying the System File Checker found errors but couldn't fix them. Afterwards I ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" and DISM threw the error 0x800f081f saying that the source files could not be found.
I then ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:H:Sourcesinstall.wim" to direct DISM to my windows 10 disk, but this also didn't work.
I don't know what to do short of reinstalling Windows, I've attached my CBS and DISM logs in a .zip file below (the CBS log was too big).
Updates :: Clean Install After Corrupt Upgrade
Jan 9, 2016I have a laptop that was originally on Windows 8.1. I upgraded it to Windows 10 recently, however there were a variety of deeply embedded issues. I tried every troubleshooting method I could find, tried to revert back to 8.1, and tried to repair and reset Windows 10. Nothing was working, so I had to use installation media from doing a clean install on my PC to install a fresh version of Windows 10 on my laptop.
I was forced to format the hard drive, and delete all the partitions to even get the clean install to work (the upgrade did a real number on my initial system), and because of this I'm now unable to activate Windows 10. The upgrade was the Home edition, and I clean installed the Home N edition (as far as I'm aware there's little to no difference). I made a note of the product key that was listed in the upgraded 10 before the clean install, which I assume was my product key from 8.1 that carried over, as it is 20 characters long and not 25.
Is there any way I can activate my clean installed Windows 10 Home N in this situation?
Start Menu Opening Along With Corrupt Files
Dec 19, 2015As the title says, the start menu wasn't opening so I ran SFC /scannow that found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I then ran RestoreHealth but I got a message saying, "Source file cannot be found". I restart, Start Menu works again but still have corrupt files after an SFC scan. I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 after some non-related issues. CBS log is attached. I'm having trouble determining the problem from the log file.

I think that it may be somehow related to a few errors happening on my laptop--such as live tiles not working, and the inability to use some apps without crashes.
Performance :: Corrupt Files On 3 Computers After Upgrading To TH2
Nov 15, 2015can some of you do an sfc /scannow and check your results with the November update installed? I always do this when i finish installations, and on 3 computers and 4 installations on them, 2 on one computer just to be sure i am getting corrupt files and struggling with my anger to not go back to windows 7 and get rid of all win 10 problems and MS ignorance. here is my results, many corrupted files in the log.. but is long so i don't post it...

Apps :: Office 365 / Excel - Corrupt File
Aug 19, 2015Running W10 pro...with office 365 Outlook/Excel etc...
Opening an excel file within an email gives me 'corrupt' file. If I save the file I will be able to open it up *sometimes*. I have tricked the OS into opening the file by printing from the email attachment and then clicking 'save'. Sometimes that will actually open the excel file but not always.
I even installed excel previewer for mobile and confirmed that excel (desktop) was the app to open excel files but that did not work.
This is happening with Word as well.

Feb 10, 2016This morning I had a computer crash . Somehow it got stuck on an upgrade . I Booted into system restore and tried to restore to earlier date. Error message came up indicating I had drive issues so I continued with the offer to scan and repair the drive. After drive was "fixed" by windows , I could not proceed with the restore by clicking on next. Its like I am getting an loop of disc errors. I went back to the restore dialog and then chose a restore point .Computer started Restoration but then had an error that indicated it could not restore due to some problem with candy crush ! I then shut down the computer . Restarted it and went thru the HP Diagnostics and everything looked OK so HP diagnostics let me restore the computer ...but this time I had to enter my password to my msoft account and the restoration went smoothly.
