My desktop icons will not open full size. Each time I open one I have to maximize it to full size.
This has only happened recently, I presume since the last auto update.
How do I reset to open full size automatically.
What do I keep doing to decrease the size of the icons on my desktop? It's not killing me, but it's INCREDIBLY annoying to have to resize the icons every three minutes. This never happened in Windows 8.1 by the way.

In old versions of Windows you could do that thru Control Panel Display Appearance
But i don't see that in Windows 10. How to do it ?
So, I decided to just do a reinstall of Windows 10 after having a couple of issues and downloading software such as iObit that is questionable at best (just found that out, glad I did some research online) and everything has been going really smoothly in terms of updating programs, apps, etc., but I just found this weird glitch or bug if you will. Take a look at the screenshot attached. Doing the simple ctrl+mouse wheel will make the desktop icons larger or smaller, but for some reason the text size is still SUPER small. My resolution settings are normal for Windows 10 (250% recommended) and I've never encountered this issue before.

The only way I can open a folder (such as Downloads) is to right click, then select open.
I have tried creating new shortcuts and they do not work. Regular program shortcuts work fine. If I create a new short cut to a file, (ie a photo), I have to right click and select OPEN to view the file, then when I create a shortcut, it does not work unless I right click and select open.
I restored system to earlier date and all is well. When restarting computer I get force fed update. Selecting NEW from context menu was not there. I fixed that. Why come I get cmd when I try to open a folder?
I recently upgraded from W7 to W10. On W7 alt/tab would expand each open application window such that they were full size when alt/tab'd or mouse'd over to it. But on W10 they do not show full size unless you bring the app into focus by releasing alt/tab. I suspect MS did that because on W7 they had a bug whereby the list of open icons would fall behind current windows. But that was fixed with with a 3rd party app (AltTabFixOnce.exe).
how to get back the W7 form of alt/tab?
I'm loving Win10 so far! Real improvement on Win7 (and most certainly on Win8, which I hated so much I went back!)
One thing I have noticed, that I can't seem to change... is how you set it so that icons in the start bar, go full sized once you open them? I liked that feature in Win7, as it was quicker to view what was open (without having to "read" the icons to work out what was what)

I just installed windows 10 but I dont quite like the small size of the taskbar icons. How do i increase their size without increasing the size of everything else?
View 1 RepliesI liked the recycle bin icons used in Windows 8 better than Windows 10, so I changed them successfully to the Win 8 version. But, the new icons do not change to reflect full / empty even though both have been changed. The standard Win 10 recycle bin icons do work okay when I returned to defaults. Why the new ones don't change as they should?

When the computer comes back after being in sleep mode for a while, all the icons and fonts are in much larger size and with very poor definition. If I shut down the computer and start again, everything comes back normal.This issue only started after the upgrade to Windows 10.

View 4 RepliesI have just plugged in a second monitor to my PC, the resolution of both monitors are as recommended (1) is 1366 x 768 and the other (2) which is the main display is 1920 x 1080 - I would like to increase the size of the font, task bar icons etc on my main display (2) but when I go to the "advanced sizing of text and other items" and then to the "Change only the text size" I cannot select specific items as this part is grayed out and I cant click on it. Could it be because I am trying to change something on the (2) monitor (even though it is ticked as my main display)?
View 1 RepliesI note in the screenshots that there is an option in W10 marked 'Use full screen start when in the desktop'. This seems puzzling to me, as I will want to use the full screen start when on the start screen (of course) but obviously I won't want a full screen start when running the Desktop app. Is it possible to use the start menu when running the Desktop app and still have the full start screen presented when I close it/switch away from it? Much like Win8 (only with the new and improved start menu of course) where I right click on the Windows logo icon to get the start menu and left click it to return to the start screen?

View 6 RepliesMy computer has a mind of its own apparently. I can no longer view my regular desktop. All I get is the full start screen with all the stupid tiles on it. I have tried changing my settings, restarting, shutting down and rebooting, nothing is working. When I click the windows logo all I get is that same full start screen. Am I missing something? All I want is for it to show me my regular, normal desktop. Not these tiles!
View 3 RepliesJust got a brand new dell computer from store with windows 10 factory installed a week ago. Today the computer became non responsive; I had to reboot it. Once rebooted, the <windows>+<D> no longer works, the display has changed similar to windows 8 (?!?!) and I can't get rid of the tiles in the desktop. What has happened? I am very disappointed with windows. I miss my old computer. What a piece of junk windows 10 is.
View 4 RepliesI can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.
I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.
Running Windows 10 on a Dell Venue 8 pro Tablet. Several months ago, and just yesterday I lost my desktop. Turned on the Tablet went to the desktop picture after signing in and ... nothing. No live panels, no desktop icons, the action center would not appear. Just the desktop picture. If I tapped on the picture, the icons would appear for a split second. Anything pinned to the bar along the bottom would work. I was able to get to system restore and restore to a couple of days ago. That worked. What happened. Don't really know how to fix other than system restore.
